All the rums!
Lisa R.

My friend Sarah S. lives in the area. For our weekend visit, she insisted we explore the quaint downtown area and end at Swamp Fox. There are many types of rum, and we sat at the bar and studied the list with descriptions of each rum. I decided to enjoy my free rum tasting with the Toasted Coconut rum. I was sold. I ordered the Lime in the Coconut cocktail, which had that rum plus vanilla rum. Eric R. ordered the hurricane, which was the special cocktail of the day. We had a great time trying drinks and chitchatting with everyone around us, including the fantastic staff. The atmosphere is really fun and the rum is great! I am not typically a hard liquor drinker, but I really wished I could buy some bottles of rum to bring back with us to Kansas. Unfortunately, with our filled suitcases and two flights home, I did not think they would make it back with us without shattering. That just means we have to return!

Awesome place! Highly recommend! Nice atmosphere. Super sweet, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Drinks are amazing! My husband and I bought a bottle of rum to take home. Check it out!

Painkiller cocktail (our favorite)

Fantastic new distillery in Pendleton! My family thoroughly enjoyed our time at Swamp Fox. The cocktails and rum were spectacular (they're award-winning for a reason!) and the staff are knowledgeable and attentive. I highly recommend the painkiller cocktail, as well as the rum punch. We have found a new favorite spot, and can't wait to go back.

However, all the rums were special, and had very distinct flavor profiles, including the "Naked" (white) rum.

I have to say that this place just added to the great experience in Edgefield. The lady that did the tasting was an absolute joy. Everything we tasted was great and I found some new favorites. This is worth the drive to Edgefield if you are anywhere in the area. Tasting are free and you can purchase bottles of anything you like to go or shop where ever you want. The store is an old downtown storefront, which created a great environment to try all these great whiskies. Do yourself a favor and make a stop here.

All those flavored options just left me shruggin' my shoulders. If you need some high test stuff for a recipe or just a boring weekend, well they have the cure at 119 proof! Hell, it's known to make rabbits rabid. Their Tequila would have made the trip back to Florida too but they are still maneuvering the red tape tangles of gov-ment on some labeling issue. Sorry guys, next time! As a bonus, for you historian types, the two gals outside the shop selling honey and such can give you the low down on their local politics back to the 1800's. They got's some juicy stuff to share too. In particular how this distillery managed to legally locate only 1 block away from the courthouse. Truly a quaint little town Edgefield is, we really thought there should be a "Sac-O-Suds" grocery just outside of downtown. No such chance. Would have been a great photo-op.

Six and Twenty Distillery - We offer a wide variety of spirits. We offer bottle sales in addition to tastings and cocktails.

Stopped in at their new digs (well, they've been here for 4 years, but I've not visited here since…read morethey moved. There was this whole pandemic/lockdown, see, and I kinda didn't travel...) and now they have a tasting room with real food and flights of their extended offerings. Carolina Crème is why I came, but they have an Avena Oat whiskey and an Heirloom Rye vodka that are both very nice!! Also had a BBQ BLT, which was amazing!! The bacon is rubbed with BBQ spices, and rather than fresh tomato, they use julienne sticks of marinated sun dried tomatoes. It hit just right! I did request another leaf of lettuce, since the other ingredients were a bit salty. That did the trick for the half that traveled toward home with me. Only a small part made it all the way home to Durham, however. I kept nibbling at it while driving. So good! I'll need to make this pilgrimage again soon.

You can book online and pay onsite if you're there on time. Pricing is on their website, and they currently have an active Groupon for their tours.   It's located in West Greenville and very close to downtown. There's plenty of parking. On one side of the interior, there's the bar/lounge area. There's couch-like seating, tables, and the bar. There's also an area for merch. I highly recommend purchasing from them versus your local liquor store, as the prices were cheaper there than anywhere else I've found them being sold.   The other side is the distillery, which is the side you step into for the tour. You start the tour with a cocktail of choices within the options they give you. I started with an old-fashioned, and it was good. Definitely carried a bang with it; a drink for the grown and experienced. It was pretty cool to learn about the distilling process, but it was even cooler to learn about the local and regional ties that made this South Carolina alcohol brand unique. It's informative, and the tour guide is engaging.   Towards the end of the tour, samples are provided of their vodka, which is strong but light tasting and very smooth; their whiskey, which was a bit strong for me but did carry a warm flavor; their bourbon, which was my favorite because it's very smooth and it carries a lot of good notes; their gin, which does have some floral and earthy type notes, and it's really cool how they make it; and another absolute favorite of mine is their Carolina cream. Their Carolina cream is so good. It is seriously delicious! I highly recommend it.   Again, next time I'm in the area and I'm looking for something to do, this will be my go-to place. It was fun, I learned some new things, I enjoyed their alcohol, and it's really neat to learn about something amazingly local, South Carolina.

The Distillery has a great rustic feel, but with a slight grunge feel to it. The bar is front and center upon entering, with shiny bottles lined up everywhere. We were greeted right away and chose to go with their sampler, any 8 tastes for $7. Now don't get too excited, they are thimble sized, but it's a great way to find the shine you'll love. On this day there wasn't a bad on on the batch. They offer cocktails made with all of their moonshine and spirits. I ended up picking up two bottles, The first was their "Barrel Aged Shine" a limited edition, 109 proof, 2 year corn whiskey shine. It was, and I say was, because it only lasted Thanksgiving weekend, a fantastic moonshine whiskey. Perfect for a stiff old fashioned. I am tempted to make the three hour round trip to pick up another one. The second was their Sorghum Rum. I'm not sure if there's a lot of competition in the sorghum rum space, but this is definitely a winner. A very sweet sipping rum, absolutely delicious on its own or in a cocktail. I am definitely pacing this bottle to make sure it lasts until I can make it back to Blairsville. They have a stage and different events, so it would be fun to come back and hang out longer. Grandaddy Mimm's Distilling shines!
