We were the last ones to come in on Saturday night, due to a private party. The staff was amazing and accommodating, and we did not feel rushed. The moonshine was amazing. Four of us did a tasting ...., The margarita one and the butter pecan were are my favorites definitely going back the next time in town.

The first legal moonshine in SC. They've been doing this for 11 years. They have a pretty large distillery and a huge selection! Super cute country decor. They even do Darrius Rucker's moonshine for him. Moonshine is unaged whiskey. And 100% cornmash. These are 5th generation recipe. They run a 1000 gallon all copper still. The competing families for this area have come together. They sell to 7 other countries.

Although they don't serve food at the location I went to, the ambiance is super chill and the service was great. They had a ton of selections and a sampling menu that really made it a great experience. The service when I was there was great and I can't wait to see what they come up with next! Cheers!!

There are no goats on the roof at the distillery, but there is a lovely shop, plenty of flavors to taste and buy, and an in house dog to keep you company while you do. At about $26 a bottle, I think the shine is reasonably priced and terribly delicious. For the holidays, try the Apple Pie Shine!

Gift set of simple White Lightening moonshine. Very good

I loved their candkes scentz are fresh and clear. Next time you see the sign stop on through You wont be disappointed.

Whoa! Friendly, assertively informative. But not the overbearing kind. Feels like talking to a friend over a drink just talking about yummy drinks. Also, yummy moonshine. They also have a whiskey aging barrel you can pick up. Really neat to check out!

Taking a little tasting tour in Anderson, SC.

Great place to stop and get a little history of distilling in South Carolina as well as tasting some great whiskey and moonshine.

Stopped in at their new digs (well, they've been here for 4 years, but I've not visited here since…read morethey moved. There was this whole pandemic/lockdown, see, and I kinda didn't travel...) and now they have a tasting room with real food and flights of their extended offerings. Carolina Crème is why I came, but they have an Avena Oat whiskey and an Heirloom Rye vodka that are both very nice!! Also had a BBQ BLT, which was amazing!! The bacon is rubbed with BBQ spices, and rather than fresh tomato, they use julienne sticks of marinated sun dried tomatoes. It hit just right! I did request another leaf of lettuce, since the other ingredients were a bit salty. That did the trick for the half that traveled toward home with me. Only a small part made it all the way home to Durham, however. I kept nibbling at it while driving. So good! I'll need to make this pilgrimage again soon.

You can book online and pay onsite if you're there on time. Pricing is on their website, and they currently have an active Groupon for their tours.   It's located in West Greenville and very close to downtown. There's plenty of parking. On one side of the interior, there's the bar/lounge area. There's couch-like seating, tables, and the bar. There's also an area for merch. I highly recommend purchasing from them versus your local liquor store, as the prices were cheaper there than anywhere else I've found them being sold.   The other side is the distillery, which is the side you step into for the tour. You start the tour with a cocktail of choices within the options they give you. I started with an old-fashioned, and it was good. Definitely carried a bang with it; a drink for the grown and experienced. It was pretty cool to learn about the distilling process, but it was even cooler to learn about the local and regional ties that made this South Carolina alcohol brand unique. It's informative, and the tour guide is engaging.   Towards the end of the tour, samples are provided of their vodka, which is strong but light tasting and very smooth; their whiskey, which was a bit strong for me but did carry a warm flavor; their bourbon, which was my favorite because it's very smooth and it carries a lot of good notes; their gin, which does have some floral and earthy type notes, and it's really cool how they make it; and another absolute favorite of mine is their Carolina cream. Their Carolina cream is so good. It is seriously delicious! I highly recommend it.   Again, next time I'm in the area and I'm looking for something to do, this will be my go-to place. It was fun, I learned some new things, I enjoyed their alcohol, and it's really neat to learn about something amazingly local, South Carolina.

The building was an 1893 cotton warehouse still with the original roof so it may throw you off a bit. However, when you enter "The Hive", it's gorgeous and welcoming! We were there on a Friday night and were joined by the friendliest locals we've ever met! The bar was packed and we all had the opportunity to share stories and laughter until closing! The owners Mark & Jennifer are so open and inviting you can't help but settle in and feel comfortable! Cheyanne was our bartender and boy can she mix some fun and creative cocktails! From the New Fashioned to the Screaming Cicada, she has definitely mastered her craft! The whiskey and bourbon Mark is crafting is unique and delicious. With his wife's passion for everything bee's, the added honey influence is very pleasing to the palate! The owners, Mark and Jennifer have made it their mission from the beginning to only buy from local and regional farmers. All other materials, such as bottles, etc. are 100% American-made. To date, they have named and dedicated two whiskies to the men and women who have served this country by sea and by land, Sea Duty and Sword and Saber. The third, for those who have served by air, will be released early next year. It has also been their goal to provide a space for folks to gather, meet their neighbors, and enjoy life. The Hive Pub, which is part of the distillery offers seasonal cocktails, mocktails, and an assortment of other beverages. The pub hosts a number of events from a monthly supper club that highlights the talents of local chefs, to music festivals and parties. Finally, their other passion lies in helping to provide habitat and food to those that help feed us, pollinators. Several of the whiskies use honey in the fermentation process which adds a floral essence to their whiskies. The pub is dog and family-friendly, and everyone is welcome.
