Returning to this restaurant from about two Years ago, this place reminded me of the warmth and delicacy I tasted last time. Given that I was in town for a conference, I decided, To revisit them. First look, I was able to notice that the decor had received an update, the wall of turbans, the chairs etc all looked new and upgraded. We met our friendly host Koshy from Kerala, who had amazing Spanish, Hindi and Malayalam skills, which was nice and made us feel at home. On looking at the menu, found that The food items had also received a super update. We tried out the papdi chaat, was was wholesome and tasty. In the main course we picked the Paneer Tikka Masala [ even though it wasn't on the menu they made it for us ] and Veg Kofta. Both were made spicy on our request. The Peshawari Naan was refreshing and super tasty that went well with the spicy dishes, and we had sliced chili laden on the garlic naan as well. Overall all the dishes were super tasty, and very Well presented. Again with a cozy smile from Koshy !! The sparkler turned out to be the dessert which was Kulfi in a gaseous smoke and really mind blowing presentation. On eating it was super creamy and satisfying, just the way its Meant to be, nutty, creamy and heavenly. Overall, coming back to Swagath was a "Welcome [which is the literal meaning of the word Swagath]" and "Cozy host Koshy" made all the difference ! We are traveling with RED Tours and today we went to this restaurant for dinner. Based on our past experiences, we had made specific requests about seating arrangement, serving of food, etc. When we arrived for dinner, we were pleased to see that our instructions were followed. The service was quick and executed to perfection. The food was tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience. The tadka daal was very delicious as was the paneer dish. Madrid is famous for its art, its history and its beauty; but no one has ever said Madrid is famous for its Indian food - after eating at Swagat, maybe it should be. This is some of the best Indian food I have had anywhere. This colorful restaurant located in the swanky Salamanca district of Madrid invites you in with its cute decor . Check out the wall of colorful turbans in the back, or banquet seat backs made out of sari material or the large Ganesha that greets you as you enter. Ambience is as important as the food you eat, but it is wasted if the food is lackluster. Thankfully Swagat did not disappoint. The aloo papdi chat in the jars was amazing and a neat take on this traditional chaat. The chutneys were on point of being savory, sweet and spicy - as is required in any good condiment game. The naans, the heart of any Punjabi Indian restaurant, the base, the chip, if you will, to shovel in those yummy curries, are crispy; yet, soft, a combination that I have never seen anywhere before and now am craving it from all my naans. My favorite curry was the kofta. The sauce was creamy and had perfectly spiced little kofta balls - that I will dream about for days to come. For dessert, don't miss the kulfi - the presentation is as cool as the kulfi itself. Do yourself a favor and when your "tapas'ed" out, come to this place to enjoy a memorable meal with great staff. This is some of the best Indian food I've had outside of India. It's ridiculously tasty and flavorful, and they're happy to make it as spicy as you like it. I came here more than once and ate like a queen each time. Aloo tiki, vegetable cutlets, samosas, chana masala, yellow daal, lemon rice....everything was to die for, and the chutneys were perfect, too! The interior is so feminine and fun! Bright pinks and blues, lots of gold, and gorgeous details. I loved it. I don't know many Indian restaurants that are bright pink, but they should really look into it because it's amazing. They could easily accommodate my vegan diet and did so with pleasure. Everyone I spoke to seemed to know English and Hindi, so we were able to communicate perfectly. I'm a huge fan of Swagat and if I'm ever in Madrid again, I'll be sure to come back. read more

Food: Great! They even amp up the spice if you ask them too considering not many people in Spain like spicy food. Decent portions and wonderful flavor. I went today for an early dinner. The staff was courteous and the food was delicious. Slightly different flavors from the Indian food we are used to in the United States, but still, it was great. As a vegetarian I would say this is a really great place to eat. They have a wide menu with meat and also without meat. My favorite dish is the veggie meatballs. Always delicious. I have been in Madrid for a little less than a week and this has by far been the best food I have had here! Not only that but this has also been the cleanest most detail oriented Indian restaurant I have ever been to ANYWHERE in the world. You can tell the owner has taken the time to think things through and pay attention to details. Amazing!
