    Indian ambience!

Great place! Dal Chawal for kids, and bhel puri for us! Everything tasted authentic.

I was there a Friday night with 2 friends and we had a very nice dinner. The place is beautiful; not noisy and all waiters were super nice. We had Raita for sharing and then a cheese naan each with different dishes (chicken tika massala, vegetables tika massala & butter curry chicken). Águila beer was good as well

A lot of places claim to have good indian street food but we found this place good to it's menu. While I do not have slightest of complaints about indian food I've tried in Spain during my trip, this place offered special items that I did not find anywhere else. Had the place opened earlier during the day, I would have definitely packed another vada pav for the road for breakfast.

Surya is an amazing restaurant. The food is delicious and the ambiance is authentic yet chic. We have been to Indian restaurants all over the world and this one is truly one of a kind! We came back 3 times during a 7 day visit! Our favorite part of this treasure of a restaurant was Deborah. She always had a smile on her face and is a genuine people person who exhibits phenomenal customer service skills, not to mention, she makes awesome chai latte's!

Didn't expect to find authentic taste but we did. Amazing Service and the drinks were just good. Make sure to call in advance we waited 30 min but the wait was well worth!we like spicy and did make it per our request.

This is a brand new place strategically located in the hip district of Malasana. We decided to give it a try and the ambience took me back home to India and memories growing up . Their menu was extremely unique , almost like a local Indian newspaper . Superb ! Being Indian , I love the attention to details and secretly hoped the passion in the decor reflected in the food as well and obviously i was NOT disappointed ! Amazing lip smacking flavors :) we tried the rolls- Tandoor Chicken and egg roll. The portion was just right with different sauces on the side ( chutneys as they call it in India ) I think it was coriander , mint and tomato , tamarind base freshly made that made a special combination and is an essential part of any Indian street food . In addition a side of house fries sprinkled with chaat masala that hits the tangy spot . We also ordered Indian chai tea and mango strawberry smoothie which was also very well made . The items that need improvement are the chaat and bhel puri, both were extremely poorly made and the quality of the ingredients seemed poor. I would like to mention though that the servers were not very well versed in English and I couldn't get them to recommend dishes to us . I feel it's important customers are educated about Indian dishes and flavors and that's the only way this place can draw in crowds and beat the already existing hefty Indian restaurant competition . The pro is that there is no place like this in Madrid for sure ! We also tried this restaurant in Barcelona and the quality of items was pretty much similar again poor chaat items but good rolls . The servers in Barcelona though were well versed in English and were efficient as well in recommending items on the menu and the place seemed more popular here .

I recently came from India, first the food does not have the richness of the spices of India, no heat at all. The food is mediocre.

They sat us on a four top first, but then told us we couldn't sit there because it was reserved. They took our drink order, gave us some peanuts and then nothing. We sat for 25 min, I had to waive our server over. They weren't even busy, literally just standing there at the entrance. And then when he asked us do you want to pay and we said no we want to order. He told us to hold up and went inside to bring out a pen and paper. Ummm shouldn't you be prepared already? Then when we were ordering, we ordered the lasagna. And he asked us what kind. Problem is there is only one lasagna dish on the entire menu so why would he ask us what kind. So I pointed it out on the menu. Then we asked for two entrees and he asked if we were sure we wanted two. Which again, weird question. Then a man approached and told us that we wouldn't have room on our table for the two entrees and tapas and moved us to the original table that was supposedly reserved. The lasagna was not good at all, it tasted like one of those cheap tv dinners. When she brought out meals, she knocked over the peanuts and didn't even bother to sweep them off the table. The other patrons that were seated after us were attended to right away and even when they sat down they asked them if they wanted bread which they never offered us. Didn't make us feel great at all. Avoid avoid avoid!! Edit: Not once after eating did they check up on us. We've been waiting about 45 min for the check
