But if there was a change in the contract by the business owner, your refund should be returned. The owner of Posh Place change the location of the venue due to not wanting to renew her lease due to complaints with her business neighbors. She moved the venue further out. My contract was based on her Carson location. The reason I choose this venue is because of the location. It was local for my guest. Not only did the owner make the decision to change the location due to her reason but she did not notify me until I contacted her regarding the party planning. The owner is also a party planner and decor which I was also using her services for. I was planning a sneakerball for my daughter in which my guest would have needed time to get their outfits together. I asked the owner for Save the date invites by the middle of February on January 22nd just to give my guest a heads up. I also confirmed with her that the Save the Date and the actual invitations would be done and she replied yes. I never received them. The party was supposed to be May 10th. On March 22, 2025, I sent the owner a text regarding what was included in the decor just to see if there was anything else I needed to get. She replied "yes, you on my to do list for today". When I finally talked to her on March 22, she informed me that she moved my event to another location. On Tuesday March 25th, I texted her letting her know that I would have to cancel the event due to the relocation. She quickly canceled my invoice which is fine but also sent me the distance to the new venue and the old venue from my house stating that they are with in the same distance (Carson and Cerritos). That was unnecessary because I was not going to be the only person at the party. I emailed her twice and text her regarding a refund ($300) of my deposit. As of today, I so have not received my refund.

At no point was I told I would need additional staff hours, more chairs, or any extra fees. Despite this, three days before my event, I was suddenly given a new balance. Then one day before the event, I was told I needed to provide liability insurance -- information that should have been disclosed at least 30 days in advance, not the day before. This resulted in unnecessary stress and constant back-and-forth between the owner and billing. Other issues included: * A substituted chef * Food that did not match the tasting * Dessert table that ignored the approved pink and gold theme * Incorrect lighting, missing slideshow, and missing napkins * Guests being asked to assist with tasks that should have been completed beforehand * Venue conditions that were not as represented After the event, I was also asked to leave a positive review in exchange for compensation, which I found highly unprofessional. I have text messages and documentation that confirm my experience and the timeline of these issues. While the venue itself is beautiful, the communication, execution, and business practices were chaotic and unacceptable. All made with love as everything was tasty. From the bar I chose to get a ginger ale. The facility is capable of holding small to large events depending on which room of the lodge.
