We loved the walking tour. The food was very good! They didn't rush us and the people in our group were real nice too! Fun day!

We did the half day excursion that included the airboat ride and the reptile show. Our guide Pete was amazing! He was incredibly knowledgeable and you could tell he really cared about the animals. He made us all feel comfortable around the snakes and gators and I learned a lot about the local vegitation and wildlife. We went in March so the weather was pleasent. I highly reccomend!

I was amazed at all the different species of birds we saw on the way to the airboat as well as on the airboat itself. I was not really interested in birds until I took this tour, there were so many different kinds it was really very interesting. The airboat ride was awesome! I was not sure what to expect especially since it was cooler out and overcast for much of the morning and was even told early on that we may have difficulty seeing a lot of gators but was saw at least 5-6, young and old. Just being on the boat was a thrill. After the ride learned about and held a couple of different snakes and a baby alligator. Even those that were a bit afraid of holding the snakes were the first ones in line to hold the gator! This was a wonderful way to spend the morning.

Captain Will delivered as promised and we had the most enjoyable afternoon at the absolute best value of any excursion in ALL OF FLORIDA! Our family of four went out with the good Captain and his sister boat with Captain Chris and headed over to Coya Costa - Do NOT MISS THE MYSTERY BEACH - There is nothing like being the only souls on miles of beach in the pristine aqua-green waters of the Gulf. We also cruised a secluded bay filled with Manatee and saw nesting Osprey for the first part of the trip. All the time filled with little tid-bits of history and stories about the islands and wildlife. The short walk to the beach reminded you or an episode of Gilligan's Island or Survivor but to dip in the gulf water in early Spring weather with the feeling of secluded luxury was worth every single penny. We then journeyed to Cabbage Key and had a stop at the famous restaurant for some "ON-Point" and fresh Stone Crab followed by an excellent Cheeseburger that may or may not have inspired you-know-who to pen a famous song about such carnivorous habits..... That was topped off by the tangiest frozen Key-Lime pit and a few scoops of ice cream from the local creamery. The trip back to Pine Island and Captain Will's tailgate office found us enjoying the nostalgic views and gorgeous homes of Useppa Island followed by Dolphin views and then twenty minutes of the dolphin pod ridding the wake of our vessel. We could not have imagined how exciting, fun, and memorable this excursion was. Without a doubt, at the prices he charged, no other ferry, tour, or excursion gives you half as much for the money on the Florida coast. This little operation is highly recommended and I'm not easy to please. Another couple of two adults shared he boat with us and they were blown away too with words of praise and plans to repeat the trip again. As a tip, arrive early and check out the fish market. If you're lucky, Uno or Lefty as Captain Will calls him will be begging for fish at the back of the dock by the fish market. The wild dolphin was sheer joy to watch as were were literally inches away from him as he waited on a fish or two from the fleet dropping their catch at the market. We could have watched the huge bottle-nose dolphin for hours. That alone was a high-light worthy of calling it a day but our entire journey defied expectations. I can not recommend Captain Will & Company from Matlacha Boating Adventures. Support a Veteran Owned Business and enjoy an unforgettable trip around Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico. This excursion made our trip a memory to cherish! Thanks Captain Will for an unprecedented time on the water!!! If you book elsewhere, you won't have as much fun and you'll pay too much!

The Punta Gorda Historical Society offers free tours. Inside, period furnishings, not owned by Price but donated and collected by the Historical Society, add to the atmosphere. Price was ahead of his time and recognized that the religious fervor that swept the country was a business opportunity. All the new converts needed a church. So he designed mail order churches that were sold and shipped by the thousands all over the country. Once a shipment arrived, the local parishioners could put up the structure. The Methodists still attend services in a Price design in Punta Gorda. Price's style is recognizable by its faux carillon and pointed arch facade. On the domestic front, Price didn't seem so successful. The docent pointed out the doors that lead to the outside from every room. It was first believed that this was for fire safety, but old timers soon corrected this assumption with the long-lived public knowledge that it was Price's wife who had to have quick and immediater access outside. They said she was an insanely jealous woman who chased down the sound of any woman's voice that might be in the garden with her husband. The Price lovenest was a bit of a takeoff on the cuckoo too. Price didn't build from the ground up, but chose to buy two cottages, then attached them with a center structure. It became a modern split plan with the bedrooms on one side and the kitchen and dining on the other. He also added a porch to the bedroom side of the shingled house.
