Turtle Beach Campground - Did I mention sunsets?

Last year, when we were vacationing in Siesta Key, we rode our bikes all the way to the south end…read moreof the island and discovered Turtle Beach. It had a children's playground, parking, restroom, outdoor showers, some benches and of course the beach. We then were pleasantly surprised to find adjacent to Turtle Beach Park some outdoor picnic tables with the permanent large straw umbrellas in a designated area for the Turtle Beach Campground. As we walked through the "campground" we discovered that it really is more like a RV parking campground though there were a few tents. You must make reservation early to book a spot. This is an ideal location for those people who like to camp near the ocean. There isn't much space for the site you rent, however just go the beach OR the picnic table area. There are some restrictions for size and I believe the max quantity of people per site is six. This is truly more like a family campground and not a party place. At least one adult must be an overnight guest on each site and quiet time (aka no running RV/campers) from 11 pm - 7 am. One needs to be very careful when making your reservation as the "lot" is very small so the size you say you will have MUST be what it is as they can cancel it, even to when you pull up. Basically, go check the guidelines. What's really cool is that there is hot shower and laundry facilities, hookup for water, swer, electric ampage, and wifi as part of your rate. Depending on when you come, in our case, late Dec/Winter is ~$60/night with add-ons for weekends and holidays. BUT, if you stay for more than a week, or for over 28 night, different discounts. And you cannot beat the location! There is a trolley that comes down the the Park that you can take to the other side of the island. Keep your fingers crossed that the weather is nice, and the mosquitos/noseeum stay away, because it will be a lovely time!

Love it here. One of our favorites for sure!! This essentially sits right on the beach. Well…read morecared for. Picnic area and grills available. Nice camp host met us when we arrived. Good email communication from Sarasota County. Gated. This is a very tiny campground so it's difficult to get a reservation unfortunately. There's a size limit on the campers as it is fairly tight getting into your site. You must pack your patience when coming in and going out due to there being only one single road with the sites situated on each side of the road. Your vehicle is a tight fit as well. Tents welcome. Safe for kids. Bathhouse used to be available and it was quite nice but they had to remove it after hurricane damage. Now there are bath/shower trailers. There's a very lovely park next door with a new playground, kayak rentals and a boat ramp.

Many campgrounds have the name "RV Resort" In it and are anything but a resort. Creekside is a resort plus more. There are many activities throughout the week with a clubhouse that is meticulously groomed, new, contemporary in appearance, extremely clean and air conditioned. The fitness center is the nicest I have seen in any "rv resort", the bathrooms (including the satellite bathhouses) are as clean as my own in my home, the pool, jacuzzi, and pickleball courts are very well kept up. Those of you that enjoy playing pickleball, there is a wonderful group that plays regularly. The management, Elise and Rick and office staff are extremely nice and always helpful and available. They run this resort as if It was their own property. If I were to change anything it would be to add more machines to the laundry facility and to lower the rates a bit as it is on the pricey side, though I guess you get what you pay for. The grounds are the nicest we have every stayed at. All sites are rather large (especially for Florida standards) with grass between each built with paver pads for the rv, picnic table and vehicle. The first section has a large man-made lake with a beautiful view. The town of Punta Gorda is also very nice and with good restaurants. We are looking forward to returning next year.

The lots are spacious, beautifully landscaped, the utilities accommodate whatever your driving or pulling providing both 30 amp and 50 amp service. The full hookups include plenty of fresh water with great water pressure and clean well maintained sewer connections with no foul odors that ensures your outdoor experience is worry free. The site I chose was paved with a expansive paver patio, level and extremely clean. My experience started with the online reservation, the website works and was extremely simple and provides accurate information, you won't be wondering if what you just booked is truly what you think it is. I love the 11:00 AM checkin, this mean there's plenty of time left after setting up your site to start enjoying the area or to just kick back with your favorite cocktail and plenty of time for firing up the grill. It was great arriving here on a weekday, after parking the big rig along side the office to check in I finally met Edie who had been my contact from the start - she's a gem and a very big part of why this place is the only place I'd stay when visiting the area - there were zero issues! There's a swimming pool, horse shoe pit probably more, but honestly I had my own agenda and this short five day four night stay was more about relaxing at the RV and exploring the area in around Cortez and of course Anna Maria Island. Big rig parking is the furthest point from the road on the back row so we had absolutely no road noise and our neighbors were friendly and quite - I couldn't of asked for anything more and hope to return here in the future for an extended stay...

Tried for weeks to make a reservation and no one answered the phone and they will not call back!…read moreTerrible way to run a business

But there are great stores and restaurants nearby for convenience. We stayed here 5 days September. We were in the pull-thrus right across from the lake. The lake is pretty with many water birds. They allow catch and release fishing and kayaking. There is a sign that there may be alligators but we didn't see any. The site was long enough for our 32 ft travel trailer and pickup to be in. We had full hookups that were in good condition. There was a picnic table and grass on the door side and a beautiful palm tree on the driver's side. It was a nice area to put chairs and enjoy the lake or there were benches to sit and relax. There was a pool and other amenities that we did not try but looked nice. It will be fun going back when I can use these things! Office staff was friendly and helpful. They take Passport America at least in summer. I definitely recommend Pleasant Lake RV Resort!!
