We recently had the pleasure of taking the "Ghosts & Gruesomes" tour, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. Our tour guide, Troy, made this journey through Sarasota's history and ghost stories an unforgettable adventure. Troy is not just a guide, but a passionate historian with an exceptional talent for storytelling. Troy's knowledge and enthusiasm for Sarasota's history, coupled with frightening ghost tales, had all of us on the edge of our seats throughout the tour. Some of the stories even gave us goosebumps! We were impressed by Troy's use of pictures to help bring the characters in the stories to life. We couldn't have asked for a better guide. Troy's friendly demeanor made us feel right at home, and the fact that Troy took the time to answer our questions and engage us in discussions about the area's history, added a personal touch to the experience. We absolutely loved Troy!!! We took this tour around Halloween, and my boyfriend and I added a little extra fun by dressing up as the twins from "The Shining." Troy embraced our enthusiasm and made the experience even more special. We even learned how to search for ghosts using our phone cameras, adding an interactive and thrilling aspect to the tour. The pace of the walk was comfortable for all, but I would recommend wearing comfortable shoes, as you'll be doing some exploring. Troy even thoughtfully took us to a lovely hotel for bathroom breaks and to purchase refreshments at the bar if we desired. Our experience with Sarasota Suncoast Tours went far beyond the tour itself. Sheila, who helped us book the tour, was fantastic. She was friendly, helpful, and kind. Due to some scheduling conflicts and dietary restrictions in our family, we couldn't book a tour before our Sarasota Suncoast Tours gift certificate expired. Sheila went above and beyond to extend our gift certificate by six months, ensuring we could enjoy this wonderful experience. Her communication and assistance were top-notch. Even my parents, who live in Sarasota, were stunned by the history in their own backyard. We all learned so much and were deeply moved by the experience. We cannot recommend Sarasota Suncoast Tours enough. Thank you, Troy, Sheila, and the entire team, for an unforgettable and truly enlightening adventure! Warm regards, Nicole, Chris, Elyse, and Joe

Using the blanket to sift through shells and sand to find shark's teeth

We did the Venice shark's teeth tour with Grace. She brought all the equipment we needed and laid out a nice blanket so we could sift through the sand and shells to find shark's teeth and other interesting finds. She even dug through the sand and brought everything to us. Beautiful day and beautiful beach!

Strolling by the theaters in downtown Sarasota, hearing spooky and lesser-known historical tales.

My family had the best time with Troy during the Ghosts & Gruesomes tour last week. We love learning about the lesser-known and "darker" facts and legends of the places we visit during our travels. Our tour with Troy was one of the best we've experienced! This is a fun and easy walking tour in downtown Sarasota, strolling by the theaters and restaurants, and hearing some spooky and interesting tales. Highly recommended!

Even though two of our group had food allergies or a strong aversion to a small number of ingredients, our collective impression was that none of the food establishments had any knowledge of this at any time until we asked. 2.) Tom was inadequately prepared; he stumbled through notes about what we were seeing and offered only a limited amount of knowledge about Sarasota. 3.) Tom attempted to show old pictures of some historic buildings and people on his tablet. The images were very hard to see because of glare on the dimly lit screen. 4.) Tom spent too much time talking about his skateboarding, his tennis, his cooking and catering, his linens, his tour experience in other cities, his ya-da, ya-da....you get the idea. We passed Tom's wife (Kelley) and her tour. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves much more than our group. We went to 4 restaurants and were generally pleased with the food offered. But if you are claiming to be offering in-house preparation, you should know if your food contains problematic ingredients for your guests, and the tour guide should be more interested in this subject than he was.

They have a large outdoor area with a playground for kids and lots of tables. There is a small bar inside, and they are renovating more interior space for additional seating for the hot summer months. The wines are overall pretty tasty. They only grow muscadine grapes on the property and import other grapes from California and elsewhere. They have a selection of drier wines all the way to the sweet fruit wines. They also offer wine sorbets. My husband and I each got a wine flight of 4 wines for $18. I forgot how big the pours were but they were a decent size. They also offer wine tasting experience of 6 wines, smaller pours, that lasts 45 minutes. They have a small section of food. We got the pimento cheese and crackers, the cheese was delicious. They also had popsicles and ice cream, which my kids enjoyed. We got three bottles of wine to take home with us! We love supporting our Florida wineries! Also, our bartender Shelley was fantastic! Very personable and knowledgeable.

It was a very educational tour and did an excellent job of explaining the history of many buildings, many local residents ranging from the founders of Bradenton thru some present day politicians. I have participated in a few ghost tours in various areas, but this was the first one to include "ghost meters" for the participants. That was a big hit with our visitors. It was definitely worth the price of the tickets. I would have given it a five star review if our guide had worn a mask. We were outside and a reasonable distance apart; however, in order to hear required we be closer than six feet. Our group was masked and it seemed as if our tour guide should have been or at least prepared to be and offering us the option. Being concerned about maintaining distance and staying clear of a cough/sneeze was distracting and took away from the overall tour experience.

We had an absolutely incredible experience with C Ponies, and I can't recommend them enough--especially if you're looking for something unique, meaningful, and truly unforgettable. What makes this experience so special goes far beyond just "riding horses on the beach." These are rescue horses--many of them coming from difficult or neglectful situations--and C Ponies has created something really beautiful by giving them a second chance at life. You can feel how deeply loved and well cared for these horses are. They are healthy, happy, and genuinely seem to enjoy their work. One of the most fascinating parts was learning that the water is actually healing for them. Being in the ocean supports their joints and overall wellness, so this experience isn't just fun for us--it's beneficial for them, too. That alignment made the entire experience feel even more special and ethical. Our guide, Raina, was fantastic. She had the perfect mix of humor (yes, some delightfully corny jokes), warmth, and knowledge. More importantly, you could tell she truly loves these horses and what she does. She made everyone feel comfortable, safe, and engaged the entire time. Walking the horses into the water--and even getting to experience them swimming--was surreal. Each horse had its own personality, which made it even more fun. You could tell they were relaxed, confident, and happy to be there. It didn't feel forced or transactional--it felt like a partnership between humans and animals. Living in Sarasota, it also meant a lot to support a business that is doing such meaningful work in our own SW Florida community. C Ponies is not only creating unforgettable experiences, but they are actively rescuing, rehabilitating, and giving these horses a life filled with purpose and care. If you're on the fence--book it. It's one of those rare experiences that stays with you long after it's over.

Our group (8 of us and four other fun people) met our guide, Maggie, in front of the Gator Club at 3:00 pm and spent three hours walking and dining. Each tour is different based on the group and any dietary restrictions, so I am not giving away any surprises. Our tour stopped at Nancy's Barbeque, Coolinary, Salute! and Gelato-Go, all on or very near Main Street. All were fabulous, with great food, service, and interaction with the group. For someone that has lived and enjoyed Sarasota for 13 years, the tour was packed with info of the city that I didn't know, and exposed us to two restaurants that my wife and I had never visited before. We also felt it was a GREAT value! This company does many tours in the Sarasota area and is readying a ghost tour for the fall. I highly recommend them!

We came on this tour as two couples. We had read only very positive reviews. The website states…read morethat on any particular walking tour only 4 of a possible 8 restaurants are visited. After going on this tour, I learned that there seems to be only 4 restaurants that this tour ever goes to. That being "Nancy's Bar-B-Q, Owens Fish Camp, Caraguilas Italian and Pastry Art". All the food was very good and by the end of the tour you won't be hungry. The reason I'm giving only 4 stars and not 5 stars is for a couple of reasons. The first one is "Sarasota Culinary Tours" does not allow any substitute of any food items. I'm allergic to shell fish and at "Owens Fish Camp" they served "Bloody Mary Oyster Shooter". Out of a party of 13 people, only 8 people elected to try the raw oyster shooter. Another dish that was served was "Shrimp & Grits with Smoked Sausage". I understand this was very good but I couldn't eat any due to allergies. So the only thing I could really eat was a "Deviled Egg and Fried Dill Pickel" and fish spread with crackers. The last place that we visited was "Pastry Art". This was the place for dessert and coffee. Our only complaint here was there was only 4 Cannoli's for 13 people. So only 4 people got to taste the Cannoli's. There were other small pastry's to eat but in the other 3 restaurants, everyone had the chance to sample everything that was on the table. The 4 people in our group didn't get to sample a Cannoli even when we mentioned it. It fell on deaf ears. I know this may sound like I'm being nick picky but this isn't a cheap tour at $60.00/person to get little sampling's at each of 4 restaurants. That said, all the food served at all 4 restaurants was served at the right temperature for that item and tasted great. Each restaurant had it own unique flavor and personality. Our tour guide (Gary) was excellent. He was a very good explaining the history of Sarasota, helping to get water for tables and asking if anyone needed anything. At each stop he passed out a card and menu for the restaurant. The owner at 2 of the restaurants (Fish Camp and Caraguilas Italian) came over, introduced themselves, told the history of the restaurant and answered any of our questions. When the owner at the Fish Camp spoke, it was hard to hear her talk due to the loud music. These are only helpful suggestions. It would be nice to know where to park. Street parking in downtown Sarasota is only good for 2 hours. This is a 3 hour tour. There are parking garages and unless you frequent the area one doesn't know where they are. Also I was informed that the first couple of floors of the parking garage is also only good for 2 hours The upper floors are for longer parking. Even though the website states that no food substitutions will be made, I feel that if there are individuals who have allergies to shell fish, I truly believe that some other kind of seafood should be available. This is no fault of our tour guide because he was a very patient man. We had 3 individuals in on our tour who couldn't keep-up with walking. As a group we waited at least 10 minutes at each stop for these individuals before we could go inside each restaurant. This is only a 3 hour tour and our time seemed to be cut short at each restaurant due to having to wait for these individuals. All the individuals on this tour appeared to be in their sixties. All that said, if you can't walk a total of 2 to 3 miles at a decent pace, perhaps this isn't the tour for you. So everyone in our 4 party group said this was a great way to learn about other restaurants in Sarasota. We each felt that we would sign-up again in the future. Overall we had a wonderful experience.
