I had a lesson last week that sparked an unstoppable need for archery. I came back to Targeteers because when you buy a bow, they not only help you pick the best bow for your needs, they completely set you up. They helped me pick the best release for my fit, arrows to suit my hunting goals and a sweet bag to hold everything! They customized the bow to fit me perfectly and let me shoot my new arrows to see how everything felt. They gave encouragement and guidance, while tweaking my bow as they saw it in action. The hunters and Archers here so far seem very different these days since there seems to be a history and pattern of disregard and common respect for the Bergan County applied rules such as no smoking leading to experiences such as public shaming due to delusional types of behaviors by those who think these rules don't apply to us all or are threatened by new people who don't agree. However, during a recent swimming class, another parent made a comment to my husband saying that our son was "so rough." My husband does not speak or understand much English, so at the moment he didn't fully understand what she was saying or how rude the comment came across. Once he explained it to me, I was honestly very disappointed. My son is still a young child who is learning, playing, and getting comfortable in the water. If there was a genuine concern, there are much kinder and more respectful ways to communicate it. As parents, I think we should all have a little more patience and understanding with other people's children. Kids are still learning, and comments like that are unnecessary--especially when directed toward a parent who may have difficulty understanding the language.

We've been to a few different swim schools in Bergen County, this is one of the more centrally located ones, being right off Rt17 and the GSP. Being fairly new, the facilities are very clean and bright, well equipped with spacious storage and changing rooms, with very friendly staff. Hours are very good so you should be able to find a time that works for you. There's even a small kids play area for those with antsy little ones. Price seems to be a bit higher than a few other places, but not surprising considering how new and clean it is here. But good overall.

All the coaches here are very good with kids of all ages and they are extremely experienced with a great reputation in the fencing community. My children initially tried all 3 weapons and picked sabre since it's fast paced and more dynamic/fun (each bout/tournament also takes a lot less time than Epee or Foil which is a big advantage for parents!). During high school junior year my child is already recruited to fence as NCAA athlete at a great college and the MFC club/coaches have been providing the best training and extremely encouraging and supportive throughout the process. I also like the fact that Manhattan has multiple locations including Manhattan (b/w 5th and 6th Ave and 37th street with easy access via public transportation) since there are so many nationally/internationally rated/ranked fencers to fence with which is a true advantage and not many clubs provide this opportunity. This Waldwick location is very well maintained and programs are well organized and you can choose lessons from well known, experienced coaches who are very good with kids, I strongly recommend parents especially with young children have their kids try since Sabre fencing is a fantastic way to be physically fit and an excellent extracurricular (EC) activity down the road. There are many age groups and class offerings between Waldwick and Englewood in Bergen County with an option to fence in Manhattan as well on Fridays and Saturdays. This Waldwick location is also well maintained with a great area where parents can watch their kids training and there is a space where kids can do homework etc while waiting for their classes. This is such a caring, supportive community with a good team/club spirit. Kids love to fence and hang out with their club friends! I highly recommend!

I also heard from other mothers that the girls were doing this while the coach wasn't even paying attention to them. This can cause serious injuries to a young child. Very unprofessional and rude when called with a concern over this safety issue. They have the young girls doing very unsafe things and could get seriously hurt. Took my daughter out of the class over a safety issue and wasted $185. Very disappointed!!!

On top of that, management was not flexible or understanding about the situation, even though the delay was on their end. (Quite reasonable) Not for its court quality. (Low ceiling, but ok) I am giving "zero" for the owner's unacceptable attitude in addressing an incident. The manner he talks to customers, abruptly, absolutely rudely, no explanation what so ever. And if you reply and ask for "why", his response is "You cannot use the facility anymore. I can kick you out." Authority .....? "I can kick you out and ban all of you." Yes, he is one of the partners and yes, he may have the authority. But, if there is no sign of what to caution, and no warning, no explanation, then he cannot enforce such. His attitude of disrespecting the customers condescendingly was so unacceptable that we ended our membership there. We will not be going back.
