They have sent quite a few of their students to the national team (only the Top 4 qualify!!) and even non-USAT students regularly bring home medals for each division at local, regional, state and national tournaments--ours included. However, bear in mind that because of the immense popularity and demand for the coach (and regular tournaments), parents have to understand the system and put into it as much as they take out. Confirm appointments as the coaches are sometimes attending tournaments. It took some time to navigate but i learned that archery is not an easy or cheap sport if you're looking to go all in and demands mutual parental guidance and support. We started this as a fun hobby but now our family is obsessed with the sport. If you are looking for this level of professional training, I would recommend patience, in-person appointments, and communications when Coach Shin is not in the middle of private lessons and training students for nationals and constant presence to help your child. If you are just doing it for fun or a beginner, SW has now hired Coach Chris who is super friendly, available and accommodating; he is there on specific days, usually Monday, Thursdays, Fridays, and some weekends if we're not at a tournament. Parents are also available to help with some of the basics so feel free to reach out to regulars. Highly recommend!!

Our instructor, Martin, was funny, informative, and insightful. I learned more about archery in those first 15 minutes than I had in my entire life. He was very directive about what was important to employ in terms of technique, things to look out for (like when retrieving your arrow or if you happen to drop one, and your quill could accidentally become a hazard), and where to keep focus. I think my target speaks volumes for how well they make sure you understand what you're doing. I only wish that I could have taken more pictures and video, but it wasn't clear whether or not we could, and I didn't want to introduce a potential hazard (to them or myself). Great experience. Would love to go back!

They were really patient and helped everyone learn the basics and even improve throughout the course of the 2 hours. They have a small seating area where you can wait and watch other shoot in the meantime. There's a jacket rack in the hallway and a bathroom available. The staff there was very sweet and welcoming, and our instructor, whose name I didn't catch (tall, long hair), was a great teacher in going through safety and the basics & giving pointers and answering questions! Our lesson just had around 4 people total to begin with, and then 2 joined later, which seemed decent (since you have to wait until the last person clears shooting before we all grab our arrows again). After you're finished, you have the option to take your target sheet with you if you'd like a small momento! It was such a fun experience for me personally and a great date night place. Would definitely do it again and recommend it, especially for anyone who wants to try out archery!

They helped me pick the best release for my fit, arrows to suit my hunting goals and a sweet bag to hold everything! They customized the bow to fit me perfectly and let me shoot my new arrows to see how everything felt. They gave encouragement and guidance, while tweaking my bow as they saw it in action. I came here on a Saturday afternoon for a 90 minute class, actual shooting time is probably about only 10-15 min total as there are about 12-14 of us so need to share and rotate the targets. Plus there was a regular class right before us that they start only 30 min before us so that means more waiting in between the shooting. The instructors are very skilled however and knew what they were talking about and they take safety very seriously so I felt safe the whole time and didn't have any urges to mess around :-) Location is inside a church in the gymnasium area, if you get lost just ask the people around and they will guide you nicely to the archery area. I had a great time here and is seriously considering coming back again should there be anymore groupon deals~

If it's your first time, you get to do a super-fun introductory class (that's accessible to everyone of all ages and levels of athleticism - including "basically none") that teaches you the basics while also keeping it really entertaining with mini-competitions and such. Definitely a great group activity to try out with friends / family. After doing the intro lesson, you're free to sign up any time afterwards for your own private lane to practice in for 1-2 hours or so (bumping you up from a 5-yard distance from your target to a 10-yard one) - and the staff will keep checking in on you and giving you pointers and suggestions to improve your game. Speaking of which, they're all super friendly and knowledgeable - Nas, Ace, Simon and the rest, all great guys with lots of patience and sunny dispositions. It's roughly $35 for 1 hour of use of the space and to rent out a bow and some arrows (and the extra coaching is free) - a very reasonable deal in NYC. My wife and I have been coming back at least twice a month since the Winter and we've had a blast every visit. Super fun to watch yourself progress and get more and more accurate too.
