Had the best time at their Intro class-So worth it!! Instructors are super attentive and helpful. Class gives you alot of time to practise too. Would defo go back for hourly slots which are very reasonably priced. They have updated and ample equipment. The class makes it super easy to pick up for beginners too. Went their with friends and it was a super fun hangout. They also do parties. Easily accessible by train. Alot of food options around for dinner or lunch. Great for date nights too.

Had a wonderful experience here with Ace as our instructor. I've taken a handful of beginner archery lessons in the past and a semester in college years ago, but it doesn't hold a candle to how these folks teach beginners. Their gear is well maintained and Ace took the time to adjust the sights on the recurve I was using for the class. They give you shooting tips and demonstrate and correct common beginner mistakes. Plenty of time dedicated to shooting too! I usually can't maintain a good grouping, but with his guidance, I hit the best grouping I've had pretty consistently. Would definitely recommend them for picking up archery!

Everything about this place is fun. Staff were super friendly and fun. Give you a lesson on how to be the best green arrow you could be lol awesome experience. Practice rounds and staff come around to help you with setup. Intro classes and then can rent a space if you want to come back and do it again.

Took an archery class here with some coworkers for team bonding - it was super fun and was definitely a fantastic group activity! Our instructor was very engaging, entertaining, and made the class enjoyable the whole time. I learned a lot about the basics of archery and enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. I would come back to rent a lane and shoot on my own time now that I've grasped the basics. After basic instruction, there's a couple games toward the end too which are fun for those wanting a bit of competition. Would recommend for small and large groups alike!

I had a great time at Gotham Archery! My partner and I signed up for their introductory class. Neither of us had done much archery (if any) before. The instructor gave us a brief introduction to the types of bows and the uses for them. They also gave really good one on one feedback for a class. The instructor checked everyone's form individually and then would make edits throughout the practice. She even looked to see that my wrist was slightly moving while I shot which was causing my arrows to angle. The class also had some games which was fun! I had a great experience and felt like I learned a lot. Highly would recommend.

As a first time archer, our instructor reviewed the basics and safety measures with us before allowing us to shoot on our own. Our targets were only 5 meters away but even then it was hard for me to get my arrows to hit the target (I'm no Katniss). Since the class was relatively small, the instructor was able to help me correct my form often and by the end of the class, I almost got the hang of it. I like that the class wasn't just shooting arrows at our targets for the entire time. We were given different challenges such as targeting certain circles in order to fight the "zombies" and aiming for the corners of the target paper. To finish off the class, there was a little friendly competition where we had to shoot colored balloons in a certain order. May the odds forever be in your favor. The winner even got a prize! There's definitely nothing like the thrill (and feeling of accomplishment?) of your arrows hitting the target. Since we've completed the introductory course, we were told that lane rentals are $16/hour and equipment rental is $15 for the whole day. If I was closer, this would definitely be a fun hobby to pick up.

I live in the neighborhood and have passed by dozens of times. Told myself to check it out every single time but never did. A year later and thanks to the day off from work, decided to finally check it out with my wife. As a first timer, you need to sign up for the introductory class. For $40, you get the class for an hour plus rental equipment. Our instructor, Etienne, was hilarious and informative. He taught us in a way that it was fun and useful. I would definitely recommend taking a class with him. If fact, I enjoyed it so much that I booked a 2 hour lane the next day. In hindsight, don't book 2 hours on your second go at archery. It's a bit aggressive and I'm pretty exhausted. The rest of the staff is super friendly as well. I received some great pointers from Tyler that really improved my form. I love that we have something like this in downtown Manhattan. I'm even considering making a trip to the pro shop in Brooklyn after a few more practice rounds.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Hi Griselda, Yes we recommend booking your class and/or lane rental online. So you don't get turned away because the spots are all full or if it's closed for a private event. Thanks! Gotham

Hidden Gems Archery...you have not failed this Yelper…read more I know 3 stars looks bad, but it's not. I just wanted to set the record straight because I have had business owners in the past message me all upset and whatnot. If you've never taken archery lessons before, swing through...this place was A-OK. I thought I was going to have to add the listing to Yelp, but someone did 9 hours prior...small world. And they also used a Groupon. I was originally going to go to the Staten Island based Groupon archery offering since it was 1/2 as much, but since I would have had to pay the toll to get to S.I, I figured it evened out. For 30 minutes, me and the one other guy taking the intro course learned about the methods and safety of archery. And then we put arrows into things for a little under an hour. We got about 4 rounds in I believe and were alternating on the 4 target course (narrow room on the second floor of some building) with a family of 4 who were obviously members and obviously practiced...they were on some Katniss and Legolas type ish. I feel confident picking up a bow and arrow now. Learned a lot from Q and Tyler. Q provided the archery lecture and it felt like a James Bond movie...you know when Q explains the gadgets to Bond. Except our Q was a woman. With a 99.9% safety rating. Ask her where that .1% went. I went to the 12 PM lesson on a weekday and I think the preceding lessons were packed or so I overheard. So I'm glad I chose the first lesson. It's why I chose the first lesson. Next up, fencing! And then ninjitsu.

Sadly I missed the Yelp event, but I did come here for my friend's birthday party recently. We were…read morea large group (at least 20), and the instructors did a nice job staggering our group with safety instructions and prep while a set of tots were taking aim at the targets. Overall, it was a cool experience. We were buddied up and I paired with my friend, who immediately pigeonholed himself as troublemaker/class clown. He got some special attention from the staff and I received a couple of demerits for not following instructions (I'm oblivious, not insubordinate). Yes, friends, I had two of my arrows removed from my quiver at one point, but I couldn't really blame them as I had ample warning. Once I earned my way back into good standing, the arrows were returned. Shooting was fun and pretty straightforward after a few tries. My only criticism is that they should spend a little less time on the prep and let us loose sooner with the bows (time flies pretty quickly when you're shooting arrows). But I get why they over-prepare with the safety lessons.
