I have never had an issue with Cote Electric who serviced our generator for years. I missed the…read moreannouncement that they had become part of Heritage Home Services. I called Cote wondering why hadn't gotten by annual service contract renewal. They explained the change and told me about the Heritage Advantage Membership plan which provides discounts on repairs and purchases and discounts on maintenance. We signed up and had our first annual maintenance check since the change. Our service tech, Pharaoh, gave us a heads up that he was en-route, explained what he was going to do, how much it would cost and how long he expected it to take. He was very pleasant, completed the work promptly and cleanly. No complaints with the change to Heritage and will continue to use them for service.

Had a service agreement with COTE. Went fine the first year. Then, they were purchased by Heritage…read more Next year, no one calls. No reminder. No one comes out. I call to make an appointment and am told the price increased by over 50% (from $249 in March 2025 to $375 for March 2026). Is there a point to a service agreement if you still have to make an appointment and the price can increase by over 50% in one year? The answer is...nope. No point at all. So, I'm off to find a new service company. Here's some text from their contract (emphasis is mine): "Why should I sign up when I can just call each year for maintenance? If you call each year we will be glad to accommodate you and come and perform the PM for your generator. However, by not signing a contract you risk the possibility of a rate increase every year whereas A PM CUSTOMER IS GUARANTEED THE RATE FOR THE DURATION OF THE PM AGREEMENT (except for continuous maintenance which may be subject to rate increase). Also, PM customers are in our database and WILL NOT NEED TO CALL for PM service. A PM customer will also receive priority service, specifically when winter rolls around and we receive an increase in service calls. A PM customer will be charged a service rate of $105.00 per hr for any repairs needed, a non PM customer is charged $140.00 per hr" Note that they never called. And they immediately raised the rate. Can they do that? Yes, technically, because elsewhere they say this: "Labor will be at a rate of 80% of base rate, which is currently $140/hour and is subject to change without notice." So, yeah...they basically lie about the benefit of a service agreement and their agreement is entirely contradictory. I'd recommend you stay away from these guys. EDIT: They called me and told me that they had called to make an appointment and told me the date they called. I checked my phone (which is the number they told me they called) and my phone has no record of any call from them on that day. My text has no record of any text on that day. They also said that they had to raise their prices but offered me a comp service. I told them no thank you, as I found someone willing to do the service for very close to their old price. Therefore, I stand by my rating and review.

We found ourselves in a challenging situation when our incumbent company let us down, but Hampshire…read moreFire came to our rescue. We approached them with the possibility of taking over or installing a new system for our outdated 40-year-old wet/dry system in Wells Maine. Eric, from Hampshire Fire, went above and beyond by thoroughly explaining the ins and outs of the existing competitor's system and highlighting the numerous benefits a new system would offer us. The Hampshire Fire Protection team demonstrated their customer focus during follow-up discussions, leaving us impressed and now even considering them for fire extinguisher servicing along with a new system. What truly impressed us was Hampshire Fire's honesty and integrity. Despite having the option to simply take over and repair our existing system, they recognized the flaws in the outdated design and limitations of the system. Instead of providing a quick fix, they made the responsible decision to recommend a replacement, putting our SAFETY and needs first. This level of professionalism and dedication is what sets them apart from others in the industry. We are grateful for their expertise and commitment to ensuring our fire protection needs are met efficiently and effectively. I'm a retired "vendor" who had to service several multi-national companies for 42 years. Now I get to play the role of a customer (instead of a vendor) and Hampshire Fire Protection has already impressed me more than I can put into words. I can't wait to further our relationship. They have offices in Maine and NH and over 40 years of expertise with the owner still completely engaged. I'll review again as things progress.

I tried to get the driver to stop and exchange papers, he realized what happened and accelerated to extremely high speeds on the highway. I got pictures of the truck and the license plate and reported it to the owner of the company. The owner at first seemed somewhat apologetic and forwarded the information to his insurance company, but his insurance company declined the claim due to lack of evidence. I reached out to the owner to see if we could remedy this issue without the insurance and he has refused to contact me and says it's an insurance problem now, not his. I would use my insurance company, but I have a deductible which I don't believe I need to pay out-of-pocket for this companies hit-and-run.
