I am fairly detail oriented and Pilar was so easy to work with through my multiple design changes. She showed me multiple renderings and made changes as requested on the renderings, with Mike amending the plans as needed. All the while guiding me along the way. I was minutes away from getting a variance from the DWP to allow my ADU to come within the set back from the power poles when the Palisades' fire started. The EZ Plan's team fully cooperated when the DWP said no, and redrew my plans from scratch. They helped me qualify the contractors and walked me through the differences in the bids. Whenever I had a question during the construction process, they were there to help and guide me along the way. We hired Ron to do the architectural plans for the remodel of a fourplex. He came in with a fancy camera scanner to measure everything, a very efficient process. He was very much on time with the delivery of the initial draft. We discussed minor changes and submitted to the city, and they had just had a few minor corrections before approval, which is better than other architectural teams I have worked with. After we began work on the project, we discovered a beam in the ceiling was not pointing in the right direction, leading to the need for a revision to the plans. The engineer Margarito went on site and approved changes, which allowed us to quickly adapt. Overall this was a very streamlined process, I would be happy to use his services in the future and can very much recommend him.

I was told by the city the design was terrible and had to be redone. Each week I was promised corrections "within a week or two". This went on for 7 months. I threatened a lawsuit which only made the problem worse. I had to eventually drive out to see them in person where we agreed to a less than lousy refund. I still lost $6,000. Do not hire this firm. I honestly have no idea how they're still in business. I submitted them to the Board of Engineers to review their license.

I scheduled a consultation with Eugene from STEN Engineering to discuss two very different…read morestructural issues at my house, and I was extremely impressed. The first was figuring out how to realign a very complicated roofline so that rainwater would channel properly. The house has been built and added onto in stages over roughly 100 years, so every addition and alteration made the roofline more complicated and less cohesive. I had literally spent hours sitting on the roof trying to figure out a workable solution. Eugene looked at the situation, thought it through for about 10 minutes, and sketched out an option that simply would never have occurred to me. It was practical, elegant, and made immediate sense. The consultation was some of the best $400 I've spent. The second issue was understanding how well the house is braced for earthquakes and how the existing foundation works structurally. Again, Eugene combined a strong engineering mind with real-world practical experience and explained everything in a way that I could actually understand. I almost never take the time to write reviews, but I was impressed enough that here I am writing one. Eugene is smart, thoughtful, practical, and very good at explaining complicated structural issues in plain English. I would absolutely call him again.

The engineer could not understand simple concepts. He would ask me a question. I would answer it then here we are 6 weeks later going over the same questions. 4. The engineer made a request. I honored the request. I reference the request in an email and he tells me he never made the request. I attach his emails with the request! He then sticks to he didn't make the request. I have at least 15 total complaints but I will stop here. This was by far the worst engineer I have ever done business with. Its hard to believe businesses like this are still operational.
