I scheduled a consultation with Eugene from STEN Engineering to discuss two very different…read morestructural issues at my house, and I was extremely impressed. The first was figuring out how to realign a very complicated roofline so that rainwater would channel properly. The house has been built and added onto in stages over roughly 100 years, so every addition and alteration made the roofline more complicated and less cohesive. I had literally spent hours sitting on the roof trying to figure out a workable solution. Eugene looked at the situation, thought it through for about 10 minutes, and sketched out an option that simply would never have occurred to me. It was practical, elegant, and made immediate sense. The consultation was some of the best $400 I've spent. The second issue was understanding how well the house is braced for earthquakes and how the existing foundation works structurally. Again, Eugene combined a strong engineering mind with real-world practical experience and explained everything in a way that I could actually understand. I almost never take the time to write reviews, but I was impressed enough that here I am writing one. Eugene is smart, thoughtful, practical, and very good at explaining complicated structural issues in plain English. I would absolutely call him again.

Deservedly so. Ray and Leslie are a gem. Their team, including Michael Song and Pilar Mutec, were a pleasure to work with. I am fairly detail oriented and Pilar was so easy to work with through my multiple design changes. She showed me multiple renderings and made changes as requested on the renderings, with Mike amending the plans as needed. All the while guiding me along the way. I was minutes away from getting a variance from the DWP to allow my ADU to come within the set back from the power poles when the Palisades' fire started. The EZ Plan's team fully cooperated when the DWP said no, and redrew my plans from scratch. They helped me qualify the contractors and walked me through the differences in the bids. Whenever I had a question during the construction process, they were there to help and guide me along the way. A BIG thank you to the EZ Plans team for making their part of the construction process as easy as it could have possibly been.

We hired Ron to do the architectural plans for the remodel of a fourplex. He came in with a fancy camera scanner to measure everything, a very efficient process. He was very much on time with the delivery of the initial draft. We discussed minor changes and submitted to the city, and they had just had a few minor corrections before approval, which is better than other architectural teams I have worked with. After we began work on the project, we discovered a beam in the ceiling was not pointing in the right direction, leading to the need for a revision to the plans. The engineer Margarito went on site and approved changes, which allowed us to quickly adapt. Overall this was a very streamlined process, I would be happy to use his services in the future and can very much recommend him.

The timeline was totally reasonable (honestly, my slow email responses probably added more time than anything on their end), and the plans were approved by the city on the first try, which was a huge relief. It was also hard to find someone willing to take on a smaller project at a fair price, and they were very thorough. Even months later, they've still been responsive with follow-up questions from our contractor. Would definitely recommend, especially for smaller renovations or additions.

I moved to southern California from the east coast 12 years ago. I'm retired, so I had the freedom and luxury of comparison shopping for a 55+ apartment. A friend recommended La Graciela and gushed a bit as she described the look and feel of 101 Park Avenue in San Fernando. I quickly made an appointment to see the apartment unit, the grounds, and amenities of La Graciela. That was ten years ago. This review is way overdue! I saw and learned enough about La Graciela during my tour to know it was a place I could call home for years. I was right! But let me tell you what you cannot know unless you've lived here for the past ten years. Aszkenazy Development, in the persons of Severyn, Martha, and their amazingly responsive team, has set the bar high in championing the needs of residents. I assume this is also true of other apartment dwellings under the Aszkenazy umbrella. When COVID hit and vaccines were recommended, medical professionals were brought to our Club Room to offer residents a choice between Pfizer and Moderna. They were brought back for the recommended second round of vaccines. Maintenance personnel power-wash the interior and exterior of our building. The laundry room is cleaned regularly to promote the health and wellbeing of residents. Trash bins were replaced to accommodate the ability of senior residents to lift the dumpster lids and deposit trash without stress or strain. A digital marquee was installed in our lobby to announce important information. Security-rich front doors were installed to promote our safety. The pièce de résistance is the recent installation of LiftMaster, a video console, to allow us to see visitors before allowing them into the building. Most of these amenities were provided to LA Graciela residents during the apartment rent increase freeze. Take a moment to consider that! Who would do that?
