The first was figuring out how to realign a very complicated roofline so that rainwater would channel properly. The house has been built and added onto in stages over roughly 100 years, so every addition and alteration made the roofline more complicated and less cohesive. I had literally spent hours sitting on the roof trying to figure out a workable solution. Eugene looked at the situation, thought it through for about 10 minutes, and sketched out an option that simply would never have occurred to me. It was practical, elegant, and made immediate sense. The consultation was some of the best $400 I've spent. The second issue was understanding how well the house is braced for earthquakes and how the existing foundation works structurally. Again, Eugene combined a strong engineering mind with real-world practical experience and explained everything in a way that I could actually understand. I almost never take the time to write reviews, but I was impressed enough that here I am writing one. We hired Ron to do the architectural plans for the remodel of a fourplex. He came in with a fancy camera scanner to measure everything, a very efficient process. He was very much on time with the delivery of the initial draft. We discussed minor changes and submitted to the city, and they had just had a few minor corrections before approval, which is better than other architectural teams I have worked with. After we began work on the project, we discovered a beam in the ceiling was not pointing in the right direction, leading to the need for a revision to the plans. The engineer Margarito went on site and approved changes, which allowed us to quickly adapt. Overall this was a very streamlined process, I would be happy to use his services in the future and can very much recommend him.

Even months later, they've still been responsive with follow-up questions from our contractor. Would definitely recommend, especially for smaller renovations or additions.
