I showed up on time this afternoon for a dental cleaning and exam appointment made over the course of two phone calls. It was then that I learned I would not receive the services that I had scheduled ... because I had not confirmed my appointment. Further discussion revealed that a text and a phone call to seek confirmation of my appointment went to a wrong number. I understand some professionals want to reduce no-shows with reminders, etc. But the bottom line is that my time commitment to them was not honored. I had not canceled my appointment and I had not ignored them. I cannot put my dental care into the hands of a dentist who has such low regard for his patients -- and I suggest that others consider this disrespectful approach when making their decisions.

I really STRUGGLED to find an honest and detail-oriented dental office in Seattle until finding this practice. My mother worked in dental offices for a decade and I've had my fair share of time in the dental chair growing up due to complications from delayed tooth eruption and good 'ol genetics. Not to brag, but I think I have some of the procedure codes and most tooth numbers memorized LOL. I take good care of my teeth to prevent further complications down the line. He immediately spotted tons of tiny "cavities" he wanted to drill. I was skeptical since I haven't had any cavities in 15 years. I went back to Dr. Curalli for a second opinion and he noted the spots, but said they're still just demineralized and that essentially, he knows I take care of my teeth after this many years and thought they'd remineralize. He made notes on the chart to recheck. At the next check in 6 months, he rechecked and said they were ok now. He knows his patients well and is not overly aggressive in his treatment recs. I needed to have a filling replaced recently and was terrified. I don't have red hair but I do have the gene that causes resistance and have a lot of painful filling and mole removal stories to back that up. He listened, got a different anesthesia that works better on resistant patients, and told me to immediately stop him if anything was even slightly uncomfortable. I didn't feel the shot at all (I've flossed more painfully) and felt literally nothing for the drilling. Most comfortable "cavity" appointment of my life! Definitely worth the haul across town for this little dental phobe.

As soon as I sat down, I told the hygienist about my anxiety and she offered to bring me headphones, a blanket, and walked me through everything she needed to do. She also altered some of her techniques to make me feel comfortable. Dr. Daniel came in for my cleaning and was similarly supportive. We talked about my dental history and he gave me so much validation and assurance about my health. He was quick, gentle, and so kind. I have to return next month to get fillings and am not as nervous as I was before because I know this practice truly embodies gentle dental care. It was an infection under a crown that already had a root canal. Pain was awful, especially when biting down. The bill was ---- worth it let's say. I don't have dental insurance but my kind sister Tam footed the bill for me. They bumped me in right away after I declared a "dental emergency." Which it was. I didn't want to lose #19, but the doctor said it's the only thing to do. Sam and all the dental assistants were very helpful, polite and friendly--the best. Had to go the Z=pack route because of the infection, but the doctor prescribed exactly the meds I needed. This is my go-to dentist after this experience. Top recommendation, and one of the few that I found that offers Nitrous Oxide for comfort.

Turns out, it was an issue - with a $200 copay since they were out of network - only I was informed a week before the appointment. While I am glad they proactively communicated I was out of network before going in, I would have appreciated that confirmation when setting up the appointment 3 months earlier. So, when booking a first appointment, ensure you get a clear confirmation the practice will take your insurance.

They also did not inform me of potential lower-cost alternatives or downgrades in coverage for common procedures like fillings, which they are required to do. On a positive note, my hygienist was friendly, thorough, and honest, and I appreciated the availability of early 7am appointments.
