Once my wife and I purchased a new home in NW Austin we knew we were going to need help. We wanted our new home to reflect our style. The problem is that sometimes you have good taste but struggle to put it all together. I called Jill and she sent us Kelli Presses, a member of the Nine Design team. She is fantastic! Kelli arrived at our new home, took a tour, and immediately started listening to our thoughts regarding our aesthetic. The first thing Kelli did was help us rearrange our furniture in our living room. We spend most of our time in this room and she nailed it. Over the course of a few weeks Kelli helped us transform our entire house. From room layout to paint color to window treatments to accessorizing. My favorite thing about Kelli, besides her gift of design, was that she understood our budget and never pushed us to spend money unnecessarily. As a matter of fact, there were a few times she offered "do it yourself" ways of saving money for the same result/impact. We're now in the final stages and our house looks amazing. We love to entertain and our friends and neighbors are blown away by the transformation. We give Kelli and Nine Design all the credit. Call Nine Design if you have any design needs. We needed help with our entire house. You may only need help with one room. Or maybe you need a color consultation for painting. They do it all.

She managed everything from design to construction to decor and SO much more! It was important to me to have a stress-free experience and to be able to keep my normal day-to-day work routine while these projects were being executed. The result was fantastic! The home looks better than I could have ever imagined and was completed on time and within budget. I highly recommend Jessica and her team! Choosing a designer was my first step. And I honestly didn't know what a designer was yet but I knew I was going to need help. I interviewed a few others first but felt I was being buttered up to a sale rather than given real answers and advise. Jessica arrived at my home on time. She was straight forward with me from the get-go and was very pleasant to communicate with. She was extremely professional and explained which of my ideas would and wouldn't be cohesive to my goals, style and budget. She gave suggestions that I could have never come up with on my own. And she was honest about what unforeseen problems and expenses could arise while working with certain materials, electrical capacity and construction. Having this information up front from her built a trust that is priceless. Jessica is an engineer and an artist! In my opinion, her ability to balance the practical with the aesthetic sets her above all other designers. It takes a very unique mind to handle both concepts well. Not to mention management, delegation and holding each contractor and retailer responsible. All done with easy and grace making your project seem like a piece of cake! And to top it all off, I would have spent so much more on this remodel if I hadn't had Jessica to oversee the ordering, installation and maintenance. Hiring Jessica not only saved me money and time, it was also a very exciting and fun experience for me. I literally can't wait to hire her again!

We are not finished yet (I will update this review when done with pics) but wanted to write about my experience thus far. So far I have had excellent service and expertise. Jessica has worn many hats for me, acting as an architect, a designer and manager. I came to her with an end vision and no idea how to get there. I just knew how I wanted the space to "feel." She's executed everything from the floor plans, to electrical, to the chairs and pillows better than I could of ever done on my own. She's also been a huge help in helping me understand city codes (uugghhhh) and is helping me stay ahead of them. Her attention to detail far surpasses my expectations. Their response time is fast, this matters when dealing with commercial build out I am learning, and their attentiveness has made me feel like I am their only client. She has made me a priority on more than one occasion to help our builder move forward faster All while being very conscious of keeping me in budget. Design is expensive and Laura was very concerned about staying within my very limited budget. I contributed a lot to the design of my space because of my budget. By doing that we were able to create a synergy together that made the end result even better than if either one of us had done it alone. We constantly built on each others ideas. My place looks spectacular. It is very nontraditional and everybody that comes loves it for it's uniqueness. We both contributed to that. I could have never done it without her. I know how flexible Laura can be in her design work in that my place is so completely "out of the box". For that reason, I recommend her to all my friends. It doesn't matter what they have in mind, she will have an idea about how to achieve it. Maybe some people completely turn over their design to a designer but I think it is important to constantly contribute so that in the end there is no issues that would cause it to be less than fabulous.

Things…read morethat made them stand out are: excellent communication and project management (we saw our project manager Elizabeth every day and she updated our basecamp log daily with pictures), a fantastic in-house crew that showed up on time, were very tidy and considerate, and had great oversight. I should also note that during the remodel process, we were pretty covid cautious because I was pregnant and everyone wore masks and were super careful around me, which was greatly appreciated. A short anecdote that demonstrates just how detail oriented they are: RB workers installed some light bulbs in our restroom, which we thought were fine. They're light bulbs! But one of the RB co-owners, Domingo, noticed that the bulbs in our bathroom were different temperatures (one was a cool white and the other a warm), he pointed it out to us and then replaced one so both bulbs were warm whites. We've worked with other GC companies in town who promised similar things about communication and attention to detail but failed to deliver. Things go sideways on remodel projects - that's totally expected. What matters is how your contractor helps you recover and figure out a solution to move forward. I always felt that RB was available to help and super transparent with us. RB has scaled their company really well so everything still feels like a very tightly run ship. I would (and have) recommended them to friends and would love to work with them again in the future.

I loved every single person she put me in contact with. She was quick to tell me where it might be to my financial advantage to work directly with a vendor, and where i might make best use of her involvement. Now for the Interior Design - Holy Cow. Her process is unique, and my needs fell smack in the middle of the COVID situation. I had to put my full faith and trust in her process, which was a bit scary... but I will tell you that hands-down, it was the best, most stress free and effective interior design process i've ever had (and i've done a few houses prior to this one). I absolutely love the results of her efforts...the furniture, the design plan, the decor, everything! And even more than that, i loved the way she took the time to understand me and how she worked with me. Her team is amazing. I couldn't be more pleased. So, my advise is to trust her process...she has a great eye, she is truly able to understand her clients taste and desires, and she knows the products. Not one thing she suggested was wrong. We were looking into a bathroom remodel and got 3 different quotes. We had the best rapport with Kristi but her quote came in higher than the others (not by a huge amount but significant enough for us to debate). In the end, since we'd had previous projects where we went with cost savings and then weren't 100% satisfied after, we picked Fix It Chick. Definitely the right decision! The extra cost she estimated at the beginning just proved her in depth knowledge of the whole project and the excellence they'd be providing throughout. All of her contractors were great and the quality of their work was amazing. We thought we had a good eye for detail but still missed little things she spotted during her various walk throughs to have her team fix. I also really appreciated her initial consultations. We didn't have a very specific design vision and she really helped bring our general idea to life, choosing a handful of options for us to pick from in regards to tile, furniture, lighting, etc. She even solved a big-to-me problem in our bathroom of wanting to have our laundry hidden. She found shelving that had pull out hampers that were seamlessly integrated and the perfect size. We will definitely be going back to Kristi first for any future remodeling projects!
