This was the worst sushi experience I have ever had. I have never felt so invisible in my life while having 6+ hosts looking at me and never approaching me, plus having to wait a half an hour for MICROWAVE edamame. I wouldn't have mind if it was heated up that way, but when I have to ask three times when my order is coming, and a waitress says "they are working on it." Then have them throw that my way was a disgrace. Will NEVER GO AGAIN... They have no proper seating for individuals who are disabled. They have 2 small cubby areas for wheelchairs, and if you are of the larger stature u are OUT OF LUCK FOR SEATING. We love Sushiville. This is our son's favorite restaurant since he was 3 years old (he's 11 now). I still laugh thinking how i had to convince our kid (3 at the time) that his favorite plates would come back around and not disappear when out of sight. He always loves picking out his dinner from the conveyor belt. This place is super family friendly and the food is reasonably priced - and tasty too!! It's great when you have a kid with the "hangries" - good food right at your fingertips! The owner and staff are super nice and always so helpful. Every weekend after coming down from Mt Hood during ski season, our son insists on Sushiville. It's become our family tradition. read more

I used to love coming here. The waitress and waiters used to be really nice and the food was always good. The food is still good but the waitresses are terrible! They have no sense of urgency, no longer check up on you to refill drinks or take orders, or clean up after people leave so others can sit. I can no longer recommend this place as a good sushi place to go purely because they do not have people who care that work there any longer. Edit: 8/1 recently they changed their stools. These are the most uncomfortable seats. If you have any sort of butt or hips you will not fit. They truly are only interested in small hipster cliental now. The booths are so tight and plastic that you slide all over the place while trying to eat. The waitresses NEVER make a circle. They stay at the entrance or wherever there are no customers and do not approach the back furthest away from the register. read more

So I've been coming here for years, the food never seems bad, I always enjoy the food itself but... the staff sucks. They're so I inattentive that sometimes it feels like you have to chase someone down to tell them you're done or want to order something. Also they keep getting new chairs and they're very strange. We live an hour out of town and came down off the mountain specifically for conveyor belt sushi as we don't know what to order and this is a great way to experiment. We've been here several times, always around 3pm on Friday's. Now they have a rule that you must have 3 people to sit in a booth. Place was pretty dead at that hour, all booths were empty, so we asked if we could sit in one. The host shook his head and said no. With my physical limitations barstools are not my usual choice. I tried to get up on one of the barstools and it slid away from me so we decided to go somewhere else. To be fair the host did offer to go find a regular stool from the kitchen. I came in for dinner on July 24 at 4:00pm with my daughters. "Look dad! A spider!" says my youngest, pointing at the floor underneath the counter (we were seated almost directly across from the drink coolers). I look down and see a COCKROACH scuttle across the floor. The sushi-boat-style restaurant always sticks in my mind, and anytime I think about sushi in Portland, this is where I dream of. I've been several times, but until recently, I could never remember the name or exact location, just that it was reasonably close to the airport. Problem solved! (My Yelp profile is a kind of extended memory for me regarding restaurants.) The quality has always been solid, as has the service. There's plenty of seating, mostly at the bar that rings the sushi-prep area, but a few 4-person booths are available too. The basic rolls and nigiri come by on color-coded plates ($2.50 - $3.75), though any of them can be ordered from a server, as can fancier items. If you want a hot item, that's the route I suggest. I also strongly recommend the sugar-coated cream cheese wontons. Decadent and delicious! Conveniently, just like anything else you order, they come on the same kind of colored plates as the conveyor belt sushi, so nobody can tell how many orders you've had. (urp!) If it weren't 30-45 minutes from my folks' house, you'd see me here every time I'm in town. As it it, I try to hit it at least every other trip or so. read more

I absolutely love this place, good sushi for good prices. I go here all the time, and the fried calamari is the best I've had. The only problem I have is they will NOT pick up the phone. I've tried to place orders, make reservations, etc. They don't pick up the phone every time. I've even had them drop my call by picking it up and instantly hanging up. Good sushi should require dexterity and skill to lift into your mouth, in one piece, with a pair of chop-sticks - it should be delicate. Now imagine a massive pot of rice cooked up in a Russian gulag, freeze dried, and shipped to Gresham in a leaking freighter. Then imagine that rice , thawed, place into a 50 ton drop hammer and forged into a dense, hard little hockey puck. Not much variety here. I guess I should've followed the stars rating according to yelp. Its true. Definitely a 2 out of 5 star rated sushi conveyor belt restaurant. Reasons: lacked unique variety. Pretty much a majority of the specialty rolls had imitation crab salad in it. The sushi plate covers were blurry, worn down and over used. Seating needs to be updated, felt very old and needed some revamping. Felt very bored with the selection they had. Positives: the staff was awesome and very friendly. Including the sushi chefs, caught their glances and they smiled. Servers were great too. Spicy tuna roll okay, decent. Baked mussels, good, flavorful, I would ease up on the amount of sauce they put on there, a little overwhelming. Smoked salmon nigiri with the cream cheese onion sauce was really delightful. It seems like it's always crowded here. The bento boxes differentiates this from other sushi bars. The quality of the food in the boxes vary too much, though. The sushi is good, though. My biggest reason for going here though is for the bento boxes. To their defense, I know there's a bento place not too far from here and this place is more focused on sushi. The sushi is slightly better than Sushiland, but it also costs more. I went out to dinner with a friend who ordered the chicken teriyaki bento. First it was explained that it would take 25 minutes to prepare. Okay. It came with miso soup, which was the saving grace for the 25 minute wait. The service was non-existent after placing the order. (In fact, we were not even given a check and had to go to the register without it.) When the food finally came, the salad had more dressing than lettuce, in fact almost spilling out of the dish. The gyoza was chewy and dry. The chicken was so overcooked that it hard to chew or cut. Several pieces had fat/grisel that was not cut off. Even the steamed rice was mushy on half of the scoop. And to top it off, my friend got sick about an hour after eating. And she choked down about half of it because she was sooo hungry after waiting a half hour for her food... When we checked out, the poor service and poor food was mentioned to the cashier. She shrugged her shoulders and said she was sorry. I asked her to look at the food to see what we were talking about. My seared salmon was sadly terrible. Whenever I usually order seared salmon from anywhere it's usually warm, but they gave me an ice cube. Not sure why my seared salmon was cold, but I complained and they gladly made me another one. I watched them re make my order, and the chef drenched my rice in soy sauce, BUT the seared salmon was warm this time which was a plus I guess. I've never had a good experience here. Service has seriously declined and this began pre pandemic and has only declined even further since then. Refills of any kind are rare or non existent. Consider yourself luckily if you can to find a waiter to help you after being seated in less than 10-15 minutes. Once an order is placed it takes a very long time to come and the go round has a very limited generic selection that is primarily coated in sauces. They are lot consistent with closing times and when they do close early they don't notify those already seated in the restaurant. just a hand written not on the door. As someone who used to work here, I can honestly agree with most of the other one star reviews. They've had cockroaches forever because the owner is too cheap to fully keep them under control. There is no system in place to keep track of how long anything has been on the conveyor belt (other than throwing it out once the color of the fish starts to look dull) and the staff are constantly mistreated. If you happen to go there and notice nobody really cares about your complaints, it's because they keep hearing the same ones over and over again and for the most part, literally can't do anything about it to help you because the owner will just blow it off. They really are just there because they need the paycheck. Like I said, the owner is cheap and won't spend any money to keep the place functional unless he absolutely has to. This has a huge impact on how the staff value their work and it is reflected in how they behave. When I did work there (which admittedly was several years ago, so I sincerely hope that this has changed) they only scheduled JUST enough waitstaff for each shift (3 people). So if anyone called out, nobody would be able to take their lunch without leaving the other person to man the restaurant alone. That means that if anyone called out and someone went on their lunch break, that other person would have to take orders, get drinks, run food, bus tables and cash people out at the register by themselves (which doesn't work if there's a line at the cash register and several people wanting to order food and drinks at the same time) I know that this is more of a staff perspective on this location, but I think it might be helpful in clarifying for other customers at least WHY there is such a problem with the quality of the service as well as the food. Sushi tracks generally have a bad reputation. At least with me they do. There is something about all that raw fish rotating around on a belt for hours on end that just doesn't seem right. So when we decided to eat here one afternoon (out of sheer convenience and not wanting to look for another parking spot anywhere) I wasn't exactly expecting much. I am happy to report it was better than expected. The amount of edamame you get on a plate (the cheapest colored plate I might add) was enough to make this experience worthwhile. I can get that same amount of edamame at a local, more upscale, dining establishment for about 3x the price. And it was good quality stuff too! The sushi was so-so. Nothing that knocked my socks off, but also nothing that required spitting out either. The meal was quick and super affordable. And I'm not gonna lie... it is a little fun to pick the plates off the belt. It reminds me of that train on Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. Except not as creepy. The taste is what you'd expect from a conveyer belt sushi bar. I enjoyed the things I had especially the tuna hand roll and the creamy scallop. It was pretty slow so the entire time we were there no new sushi was being put on the belt which was unfortunate. The sushi that was on there seemed old because the plastic domes were clouded over with condensation. Kind of silly that we had to lift them up just to see what was under them. Because of this we had to order a lot off the menu which wasn't bad because we were about the only ones there. The service was prompt. Price wise it was alittle spendy for what I got. Usually my meal will be 15 bucks for the amount I ate but I think my total was about 25 bucks. Kind of spendy for one person. read more

Sushi-go-round is the way to go if you only need light meal. Three plates of sushi and I'm full (although you do see a few people that have empty plates stacked up to the ceiling). It's inexpensive, and the food is very good. This place is great if you're taking a beginning sushi eater. They have great california rolls and the eel is to die for. If you want to eat something a little more unique, just ask one of the guys in the middle and he'll get it for you. read more

This was one of the first places at which I tried to become a more regular eater of Sushi. Im a big fan of it, but Ive always experienced Sushi as one of those things you eat maybe once or twice a year. This place easily is one of the worst Sushi places Ive been to in the Portland area. Ive had average Sushi before but this wasnt really even up to that standard. There are far better places to go for cheap Sushi with more variety and FAR better service. Unless a place is packed there really is no excuse for slow service. And Ive been here about 5 or 6 times so it wasnt just an off day or they were just super packed.
