Oh, Sushi used to be one of my go-to spots in Happy Valley, but it just doesn't have the same spark it did a few years ago. The food is still decent, but not as fresh or flavorful as it used to be, and the prices have definitely crept up. It feels like the portions got smaller while the bill got bigger. It's not a bad place by any means the service is fine and the atmosphere is still relaxed but it's kind of lost what made it special. Really upset that they ran out of our drinks red wine and white wine and then charged us double for the sake they said they would replace it with. When trying to talk about it to staff I was informed the owner was taking a nap. I was over charged for their own negligence and not informed of my purchases. Apparently they charged for samples and after ordering one glass they charged us for two and then couldn't give us the glass and then charged us for the alternative drink. read more

This is our go to conveyor belt sushi spot for lunch. Everyone working there is always so helpful and kind. Great prices, solid sushi belt food. Quick. Easy. Always satisfied when we're done. I came back in after several years from a pre-pandemic visit, which I don't recall - which might have been a sign. Ironically, I walked up with my friend saying, "I'm trying to be better about not making singular indictments of experience, and allowing multiple options to form opinion." Then... we walked in. Two staff in center making sushi, eye contact - no greeting. Many booths full, however no one at bar. A dozen people sitting at front waiting. No one at cashier desk/station so I peek at the clipboard and see many lines crossed off but 4 waiting groups (two groups of 4 and two groups of 2), but no pen or anything directing me to write a name. While looking, now 2 minutes in - three young gals in branded tee-shirt, one walks past us shyly toward the groups. Two others shortly appear from the back, chatting amd laughing to one another, head to desk and stood there. My friend asks "so, should we seat ourselves at the bar or write our names, or...?" Complete, wide-eyed, deer in headlights, fear from both employees. One blurts, "GIVE ME A MINUTE " and scurried away, leaving the other with open mouth and wide eyes and still saying nothing. I wait a beat. Then another. Then thank them and leave. Drove .4 mi to next sushi location of virtually identical plan/model/concept - immediately greeted with a smile, regularly attended, and served with kindness and quickness. The service at 2pm on a Tuesday was great. They were attentive and refilled my drink quickly. That's really all they have going for them. The food was sub par at best. No indication of what anything was on the belt and most items were discolored because of time on the belt (brown avocado, depressed and sad wilted lettuce). The few things I did take were not good, gas station sushi quality if there needs to be a comparison. It was interesting as there were a few full tables and a couple other individuals at the bar so they do have a customer base but I don't know why. They placed my vegetable tempura at another table where it sat with a small child for a few minutes before that person advised staff they hadn't ordered it and then it was just picked up and brought over to me. Doors close at 8pm despite it stating open until 9pm, its annoying despite calling the staff and them stating they stay open at 9pm. Ive come plenty of times and usually never have an issue but when I get there at 8 they are basically closed with the doors locked and everything. Change the sign at this point. read more

I find this place to be one of the better conveyor belt sushi in the SE area. I know O'Sushi has this location and the other on 82nd between Division and Powell. This location is far superior! I'm pretty simple when it comes to sushi and prefer nigiri over rolls. The fish tastes more fresh than other conveyer belts so it keeps me coming back. Typically I'll get salmon nigiri, seared salmon nigiri, calamari, and baked mussels if I'm craving it. I've noticed that they changed the calamari batter or maybe even the size of it, but it's still decent. I've had rolls and other sushi offered, but prefer salmon overall. There isn't much on the conveyer belt itself around dinner time, whereas I've seen more during lunch time. I prefer and recommend to have things ordered anyway to get it freshly made. The location is in a small plaza next to Natural Grocers and there is plenty of parking (which is always a big perk). Brought family here for dinner. After drink order, server came with loaded tray and accidentally knocked two glasses of ice water on me. Jacket and pants soaked. Bag wet. It was an accident but I was wet enough needed to go out to the car to try and dry off (not successfully). Uncomfortably continue on with dinner. At checkout, offered me nothing by way of comp. Not expecting a free meal. But a free roll? Plate? Drink? Nope. Nothing. Talk to manager "we can't do anything". The owner of this place should be ashamed for not empowering the staff to do basic customer relations tasks. Otherwise a fine establishment. We are regular customers here, the sushi is superb BUT THE MANAGEMENT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE HERE.... Not so much. We walked in during the dinner rush, waited to be called and were placed in the packed bar area. I have a medical condition with my arm so we asked to be seated at a booth that just opened up before we even sat down. But we were told by the "manager" aka the guy who claimed to be the manager at least that we couldn't because "they were going in order of the list" but then he proceeded to call the next party while we were talking to him and instead of placing us at the booth we kindly asked to sit at, he placed the next party there instead as if he wanted to pull a power move and rub it in our faces. When I made it vocal that I had a medical condition while talking to the manger, their employee (the woman server) decided to come up and decided to bully and embarrass me by saying "If you wanted a booth then why didn't you write it next to your name?! Because we could have seated you in a dirty table right away without cleaning it." Mind you, their check-in clipboard only has a section for name and party size NOT seating preference so how could I have known?! At this point, I felt extremely disrespected. THE "MANAGER" WAS ALSO EXTREMELY DISRESPECTFUL and kept asking what my medical condition was and why I didn't tell him I had a medical condition the moment I walked in I felt that was out of line because I did not need to disclose that. They caused a scene for no reason when all I did was kindly ask to be seated somewhere else. I also even told them we could wait. This is just really sad to see such an excellent establishment with good quality sushi have employees like these who bully and ridicule people. I come here monthly with my family and sad to say this but I'm NEVER coming back and will NEVER refer anyone to this place again. If you are the owner and read this review, please speak to your staff that worked on 8/4/23 during the closing shift and talk to them about customer etiquette and to be more respectful towards others. My problem was mainly with the service. They definitely did not have enough staff for how busy it was. We got seated fairly quickly but it took forever to get some water and utensils. It was hard to even find the waiter and we had to wait like 10 minutes just to get the check. The food was great though. I recommend the hand rolls. Such a good deal. My son and I come here pretty regularly. There isn't usually a long wait for a table and service is always good. My son loves the selection and the sushi belt. It has a lot of good options for people new to sushi and the price is reasonable. Sometimes the items on the belt are sparse, but they'll prepare to order whatever you want on the menu. This place is awesome for the price. Their sushi is fresh and the fried rolls on the belt are usually crisp. I like that that they ask if you want ginger and wasabi when you walk in. It feels a lot cleaner that way and then the wait staff is sure to see you quickly after for orders. There isn't usually that much food on the belt. I think that's deliberate though so they can do better quality control. Just to super make sure all the plates I get are fresh, I also always separately order with the wait staff. They're sometimes understaffed, but are always nice, polite, and try their best to be quick. My go-tos are salmon, seared salmon, house roll, and calamari.
