If you want low cost delicious fresh sushi you MUST order from Sushi You! The restaurant is small and quaint with a small sit down bar. I usually order several rolls to go. The rolls are packed with seafood and seem to be much larger than other Japanese restaurants.My favorites are the salmon/avocado rolls, spicy salmon rolls and the Kani salad. They have a variety of "special" rolls and again so delicious and at low prices. You can park on the street or in the small lot. I only eat sushi from Sushi You! The best of the best! read more

Out in Clifton for a shopping day with my bf, we were overcome with a serious sushi craving. My trusty Yelp app pointed us to this little gem, awkwardly nestled in a mini strip-ish mall on the border of a suburban neighborhood. I certainly had my reservations as we entered the tiny spot with a clean and no-fuss atmosphere. Outside of the restaurant they have a perpetual "50% Off" deal...it is a bit of a gimmick, but is paired with extremely reasonably price rolls. We started with a seaweed salad and miso soup, and shared white tuna, salmon, spicy salmon and spicy crab rolls. The salad was fresh and the miso soup wasn't too salty. The sushi rolls were perfect...generous pieces of fresh fish with a THIN exterior of rice...your mouth does't become overwhelmed by the starchiness of too much rice and truly lets the flavors of the fish shine. The total bill was $25, plus a sushi roll on the house for bringing us an incorrect roll. Very reasonable in comparison to city/Hoboken prices. This place is too far removed to be a staple, but is certainly highly recommended if you are in the area! read more

We got four glasses of ice water, put in our order, and waited. After awhile, the steamed Gyoza came out and it was pretty good. Then, the interminable wait began. After twenty minutes we got hungry again, but no waitress to be seen. Thirsty, same thing. Cast adrift in a seas of apathy, we waited for anyone to spot us. Finally, our sushi began to arrive, brought by a different person. Happily, he took out order for more Gyoza but brought fried instead of steamed. I waited almost 2 hours for my delivery and half my sashimi was completely frozen. The salmon avocado salad had no salad. Just salmon which was chewy chunks and unripe avocado. And then I got a spicy salmon roll which had no spice but all crunch. It was literally a roll of crunch. And lastly my white tuna was clearly old. Decent sushi place for a quick lunch. The half price rolls are pretty tasty but small, you get what you pay for. I come here often with friends and order a few of the half price rolls and I spend about $10 and it's a full lunch. The only reason why I come back to this place often is because of the prices, but there are fancier sushi places near by. This place is my absolute favorite for sushi... And not that it matters, BUT the owners are Chinese. If you head here enough times, you'll get to know one of the owners, Ren, and he's super hospitable and grateful for your business. The restaurant may look like a hole in the wall, but they've remained in business with a loyal following of customers for a reason: Their food is excellent. All regular rolls are 50% off so you're looking at a spicy tuna roll that costs about $3.75. They have an entire menu of specialty rolls that all are phenomenal. Some of my favorites are the Godzilla roll and the Honey roll (which is NOT on their regular menu, but instead is a recent creation by Ren written on a whiteboard when you walk in). Specialty rolls are often $10.95-$12.95 with about 10-12 pieces to them. Their Fire Ice Cream (green tea flavor is my favorite though my family also loves the red bean) is different but yummy. They pretty much scoop out ice cream then cover it with panko bread crumbs, a chocolate drizzle, whipped cream, AND alcohol to help light the crumbs on fire which also conveniently gives the ice cream a bit more of a daring taste. Take note of when you go for dinner: Friday nights at around 7:30-closing can be super busy so expect to wait a little longer than usual for your food. Any other night of the week is usually a good time to go, though they also accept phone orders for take-out. read more

I ordered 3 rolls: lobster, Phoenix, Zebra. The lobster roll was actually my least favorite, but still okay. The phoenix and zebra rolls were tasty. I also had a bowl of miso soup and edamame - good, but nothing to write home about. Overall, the sushi was good, but nothing memorable. Sushi you is hands down my favorite sushi restaurant! I know that when I order, it will come out exactly as I remember it tasting the last time, which is perfect when you have a craving for sushi. The staff is always so nice and attentive. I eat-in and take-out, and each time the service is prompt and I am not left waiting very long. The prices are also excellent! I can have an enjoyable, nice meal for under $20, no problem. Nice little place to go out to eat, even if you're on a budget. The decor of the place could use a little facelift to make it more on the romantic side, for a date. Regardless, the food is the most important part and they nailed it. I looked at other local sushi places before settling on trying Sushi You. First of all, they were conveniently open on a Sunday evening when many of the other sushi restaurants were not. Also, you can order delivery through their website which I did. Delivery was free with a $20 minimum, I ordered a millennium roll and a tiger roll with a side of miso soup. The rolls were great. The only thing I wasn't too fond of was the soy sauce they provided. I thought it was a little watered down. I just used my own Kikoman in my fridge. The miso soup also tasted bland but I can live without the soup. The rolls were very good. I will order from them again. read more

I ordered delivery from sushi you and was definitely let down. I ordered the W. Wonderful Roll and the Jade roll and neither tasted fresh or of food quality ingredients. I love sushi and could eat it every night but the mango was hard on top of the roll. And the sushi had that yucky fishy-taste when you know the fish isn't fresh. I also ordered edamame which was good. I am kind of surprised reading all these reviews that say how good this place is. I will say the delivery was quick. Consistently, best cheap sushi spot for take out and dine-in sushi. Normally I order regular rolls (which is a smaller roll than you will usually find from another sushi restaurant) and really enjoy any of the spicy rolls because they have the crunch from the tempura flakes. The regular rolls average from $2.75 to $5. Another favorite is the kani salad, which has a nice spice to it. It is BYOB here and I have enjoyed many nights catching up with friends and staying until just about closing time. The dessert selection is fun because they have fire ice cream. After a few glasses of wine, your brain thinks to order "fried" ice cream, but it's definitely not the same he he! Their fire ice cream has tempura flakes around the ice cream which they douse in some type of alcoholic spirit, light it on fire and serve to you. Tip is to blow the fire out immediately (take the picture fast!). I've learned the hard way that the tempura flakes don't taste that well burnt. lol! Cannot beat that anywhere else, especially in the area. We had Miso Soup, Seaweed Salad, regular Mixed green salad (ginger dressing was to die for) a Philli Roll, Cali Roll, Yankee Roll, and a Spicy Tuna. All were good. I will never order from this place again. The delivery guy was beyond rude and very aggressive. I ordered 40 dollars worth of food and he was unhappy with his tip. I don't know about you, but I put 2 dollars on the card to begin with because I always thought it was weird that you leave a tip before you even see the service you are about to receive. Then, when they arrive, I give the rest in cash. 1. I was in the office alone as my coworker stepped out on a call. 2. He said that next time I need to go and pick up because this is too far for him and the tip was too little. Well, maybe if you kept your aggressive disgusting little mouth shut, then you would have received the rest of the tip. Oh, and the place is 5.7 miles away aka 10 mins. I order delivery from here a few times a month and it's always worth it. The nigiri sushi is fresh and delicious - my favourites are tamago, Inari and of course salmon and tuna. My legit only complaint is that I wish there was a little more rice in everything - there is a decent amount in the maki but sometimes the ratio is a bit uneven for nigiri. Even that isn't an issue and you can order extra sushi rice as a side if you'd like - I do and make my own Onigiri for lunch the next day! I've been eating at Sushi You since it first opened. Since I went to Montclair, we went every chance we could get to take advantage of the "Grand Opening" discounts. It's been about 4 years now and the sushi is still 50% off regular rolls and 10% off special rolls. Such a good deal because I swear their sushi is SO addicting! We used to go almost every week instead of eating on campus. I recommend their spicy tuna, Red Dragon, and Snow Mountain rolls.
