Came here on a weeknight for dinner. Kelsie made me a…read morelychee martini but with a Japanese "vodka" instead of Japanese gin. It was great! No need to go into how many I had :) and it was not vodka but it was good! We started with the miso soup and ginger salad. Soup was delicious. The salad had a variety of greens and was a welcomed change from iceberg salads of many a Japanese restaurant . We then moved onto salmon sashimi. It was fresh and delicious. There were three generous pieces to the order. Then we had the hand rolls/tacos. Kelsey got them from "the other side" of the restaurant because they weren't in the lounge menu and I asked about them. They were small but shockingly filling. Loved them. I got the salmon ponzu and my friend got the spicy salmon. We both loved what we got. Then we got the scallop w/caviar. She asked about wanted nigiri versus sashimi and we opted for no rice. It was amazing. I highly recommend. Then we did the district roll and the dragon roll, both were great and different. I forgot to mention I am not a spicy fan and that the spicy could be in the side. Otherwise perfect. We ended with the Peking duck roll. Also delicious! But we were stuffed by this point. Marisol, the chef, was very creative in her presentation. Every dish was a work of art. Can't recommend this restaurant enough!! Go there!

The ceviche was phenomenal and had great presentation; we also opted for the hamachi carpaccio both toasted and raw. The toasted was a bit under flavored and felt like it was missing something (not their fault we asked for it toasted). We also had the carnitas bao buns which were a delightful treat. The salmon lover roll was absolutely delicious as well had a nice fruity flavor along with it. And lastly, we originally came for the hand rolls (which are no longer on the menu) but they made an exception for us and they were phenomenal. Overall, would come back only 4 stars because everything began coming out at the same time and didn't have a pace to it.. cozy fun vibe! PS.. Our waiter Gabriel was only his second day and he was absolutely amazing and knowledgeable!

They were victim to a fire but are back full speed ahead with impeccable service, food, & drinks as ever. The staff is both friendly and genuinely wants you to have a good experience. They have mastered both the Thai and Japanese aspects of the menu (obviously in the name but a lot of places are strong in only certain categories). Everything we tried was insane. The Krab Rangoons really stood out to me as those are a dish everyone loves and wants to order at each place and they do theirs spring roll style so you get a bite of everything in every single bite - it's not all in the middle or barely filled. The Thai teas blew us away. We couldn't get enough. The rolls WOWWW was so hard to decide but our server, Kyle hooked it up with the recs. Same with the Thai side of the menu - the fried rice AND the pad kee mao were FIRE. I really wanted to try the curry but will definitely get next time as we could only order/eat so much! Can't wait to go back!!! What we ordered: - Krab rangoons (served in spring roll form - best form imo) - Garlic edamame - Basil fried rice w/ chicken - Pad kee mao w/ beef - TST roll - Angry bird roll - Volcano roll - Dragon roll - Salmon nigiri - Thai tea (og) - Thai green tea (matcha)

Really crispy exterior and delicious inside! Had 2 different sushi rolls - tuna roll and deep fried roll. The tuna was better but only due to personal preference and I didn't realize that I wouldn't like the texture after deep frying. Love the interior and glad they rebuilt after the fire!

Their location makes you want to walk right on by, but as soon as you open the door, you see a quaint, nicely decorated sushi restaurant. Small in stature, but some sushi that will knock your socks off. I ordered the premium nigiri dinner and I must admit, the nigiri ranks up there with some of the best. The chef knows what he is doing- the rice was great, the fish was fantastic and the way he brought the dish together makes it just unbelievable. If you want great sushi- do yourself a favor and stop in.

Chef Daniel clearly takes a lot of pride in his craft, sourcing fresh fish multiple times throughout the week and putting real thought into every dish. What really stands out is the attention to detail. The rice is perfectly prepared, with each grain having the right texture and balance, which is something a lot of sushi spots overlook. It makes a huge difference. A quick heads up though, this level of quality takes time. If you are in a rush, this might not be your spot. Chef Daniel is focused on doing things right rather than fast, and while he could scale up and bring in more chefs, that is not the experience he is going for. Expect a wait, especially during peak dinner hours. The ambiance is pretty simple and no frills, but that is not why you come here. This place is all about the food, and it absolutely delivers.

Mi Hoanh Thanh was slightly bland, but love the pork rinds in there. Meat was dry. It almost seemed like it was thawed from frozen (not saying it's not made in house, but maybe not as fresh this Monday I went). Pho dac biet was good and plenty of meat. Not too sweet or salty. My mom said it tasted less rich - possibly due to lack of bones when cooking the broth. We got goi cuon and the pork in the roll was also dry. It seemed like they didn't use the pork belly cut so that may be why as well. Server, Tai, was great. We appreciated that he spoke Vietnamese (helpful for older gen patrons) and he was very attentive and kind. Would prob go back to try more if I was in the area just to see how the other dishes are (sushi).

Nickel City Sushi in Pinellas Park was honestly just meh. They cannot even get the rice right. It tasted like typical Vietnamese rice with little to no rice vinegar and it was dry. That alone sets the tone for the rest of the meal. My friends originally told me to check out the buy one get one roll deal during happy hour. I guess I waited too long because now it is simply two rolls for twelve dollars, which is only a small two dollar savings. The shrimp tempura roll was fried nicely and still crispy, so that was a plus. The salmon tuna roll was fine, nothing special. A little avocado or cucumber would go a long way in adding texture and flavor. I did like that the rolls came in eight pieces instead of the usual six. They sprinkle a tiny bit of masago and sesame seeds on the outside of the rolls. That should really only be mentioned on the menu for allergy reasons because the amount is so small. Yet they list it like it is some kind of bonus, which is a stretch. We also ordered the fried egg rolls, which came out piping hot, but they were small and skimpy at two for five dollars. The wrapper was too thick and the inside was too dry. I know several places that offer three large egg rolls for the same price. For an old school looking bar, they have a decent sized parking lot and ample amount of tv's if you want to see some sports. They have a few pool tables, variety of arcade and slots, along with a ton of dart boards (both traditional and electronic). Its a low key vibe of old locals for the most part. So far, I am not overly impressed with the food. I might consider coming back to try some of their other dishes like pho. Prices are not too bad, the service was quick and friendly, and the drinks were crazy cheap. If I do end up returning, it would probably be for the cheap beer more than anything else.
