Menu backside

Very small, but very good. AYCE sushi and other options. Server was friendly and courteous. Menu had over 100 selections. You have 90 min to eat all that you can. That being said, they don't rush food out. Everything was fresh and made to order. Make a reservation. I didn't, arrived right when they opened as a party of 1. By time I left, the restaurant was packed. If I lived in Edmonton, I'd be here often. What a gem.

It is a very nice place! The staff is very nice, kind and helpful. The price was ok and the quality of the food was pretty good. Portions are small compare to other places. Sashimis were nice and small cut and fresh! I did not like the rolls as much as other things. They looked and tasted the same. The place was heavily packed and a huge line up outside! I don't like crowded and busy places and like to see creativity in rolls! Because of these reasons, I may not go out of my way to go there but I may go back there again.

I have heard about this place from a few people, so I starved myself and went to enjoy the ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI! I must say it's pretty cute inside, and it was BUSY. Even with how busy it was, they did very well getting food out. I wouldn't say it was the best sushi I had, but it was pretty good quality for being all you can eat. It was fairly loud inside, but it was just crowded with people having dinner conversations and is not meant to be a quiet, romantic setting. I would definitely go back, but not for a bit cause of how much I ate in that sitting.

I judge an AYCE sushi restaurant by their sashimi and this restaurant's is reliably good. For AYCE, you can't really go wrong with Sushi Toshi, where the hot sake flows as easily as the countless (ok, 30 per person) pieces of sashimi, and where you might end up smelling like a hot lava rock (and the meat grilled on it) by the time you leave. Personal plus points: they have a gluten free menu, the only AYCE sushi place I've ever seen having a separate menu; it's reasonably priced for what you get ($41-43 per person), considering I can easily spend upwards of $60-70 myself at a normal sushi restaurant; and it's on the northside, which has historically been bereft of good sushi restaurants. Some minor downsides that don't really bother me that much but might irritate pickier diners: it gets very busy and the tables are set quite tightly together; the room gets smoky when a lot of lava rocks are ordered; the service can be patchy but food will still constantly come to your table at differing intervals. Definitely make a reservation before you go, or you might be waiting a while, especially on the weekend!

The food is so amazing. The service is kind, efficient and absolutely so nice. The environment is all around happy satisfied people. Highly recommend this wonderful sushi buffet place. Be ready to eat all you can eat (:

This was my first time going to sushi toshi and it was a very pleasant experience for us. We made reservations ahead of time (as was recommended to us to do) we were seated at our table immediately upon arrival. The menu and method was explained to us and we marked down what we wanted to eat on our piece of paper. There are a ton of options here and the price is pretty good for the amount of food you can order, all you can eat! 30 pieces of salmon sashimi is the limit for each person. Plus you also get 2 cuts of steak per person as well. Those two items alone are already worth the dollar amount we paid for this meal. We also ordered maki rolls, tempura, beef tataki, all sorts of sashimi, steaks, soups, and more! It was delicious and super filling. We would come back here.

This is a platter of 150 pieces of sashimi. Only half left before I remembered to take a photo.

You must definitely make a reservation or end up in a big line wishing you did. The Service is impeccable with super friendly staff. We went with an entourage of 7 and stuffed ourselves silly. The food came so fast we really didn't have time to think. Maybe it's better to order half your food and eat and order the other half. I saw a couple pace themselves and it seemed much more enjoyable than our style of "seek and destroy" the food presented. Anyways it was a very fun and enjoyable evening. Nothing more enjoyable than eating great food while you watch a large growing line staring enviously at you. Ha ha ha. Totally recommend this rockstar location. Best of the night was the "melt in your mouth sashimi" and the shrimp tempura. Sorry about the photo, we ate half before I could bring out the camera.

Came to Sushi Toshi for a 3 generation girls night out - Grams, Ma, and kiddo. Be forewarned - it's $$$ at $100 for a senior, adult, and kiddo on a Friday night. First off, I LOVE that they have a colour menu with pics to correlate with your ordering sheet. This is phenomenal for newbies to AYCE sushi as well as lucky kiddos. I also liked that the portions were small! I greatly dislike it when AYCE sushi joints give you larger portions or 6 rolls to an order. Another bonus - pop is included here in your AYCE price. After reading fellow Yelpers' reviews we stuck to steak for the self grilling portion which my kiddo loved! The sauces that accompany the meats were fabulous and great to dip with any of the AYCE options. Food was quick, hot, and prepared perfectly 99% of the time. From poke bowls to tempura to sashimi to seaweed salad, they've got it all! I really appreciate that the sides like kimchi and seaweed are small. You can easily order a second or third but aren't stuck with a big bowl if no one else st your table wants any. The tempura was a big hit with my kiddo but at $23 for a strip of steak and a few pieces of tempura, I don't think I'll be bringing her back here anytime soon. She didn't care for the won ton soup here - had an unusual base and I appreciated that we weren't charged for her not liking it - frankly none of us did. I'd definitely come back here but I think I'd enjoy it more in a larger group of adults. Oh and vanilla ice cream is included here - it's an extra $1 for flavors like green tea or red bean. PS the butter tuna sashimi was my fave and literally melted in my mouth!

Best beef tataki I've had anywhere in the world thus far. I can't believe I haven't reviewed my favourite asian restaurant. I have been going here for more than 20 years, from when it was a mom and pop business run by a family...to being renovated and modernized by the kids of the original owners. It was the first location before they opened up other locations...and it is by far my favourite. I go here for the classic dishes that never fail. Tempura, beef tataki, age dashi tofu, sashimi and rolls galore. Everything is always top notch quality and consistently delicious. I have never had a bad tasting meal. The place is busy and it reflects that. Sometimes you need reservations on peak hours during dinner rush or weekends. But I never really have an issue getting a table if I don't. Get the beef tataki here. It's the best dish I've had and for me this is my classic must order when I come here. Sometimes I order 2 of them bc it's so good and I can't share it with someone else! The rolls always have a good ratio of rice and fish, with no yucky fillers like tempura crumbs, fruits and are never drenched in sauce. Every dish let's the fish shine as the main event and that's what good Japanese food is all about! Go here and you won't be disappointed!

Atmosphere is relaxed and minimalistic with a great chill vibe. Service is okay but I would say that all the times I have been there, the staff have not been super welcome or friendly. Our dishes came by slowly which was fine because we were visiting with friends but don't expect to fly in and out. This is the one thing they can improve on. Luckily the food makes up for it. The standout was the black cod with the miso marinade and the amazing selction of the Japonais Premium Select. A HUGE amount of rolls, sushi and sashimi. Definately worth the money if you are fine with the chef doing the choosing. Everything was super fresh. The only thing I think was just average was the tempura. It was no difference than the other places I have been to. Really worth making the reservation for, just keep in mind you may need to wait.

So this review is a bit late but thought I should still write it as my Dad (who only ever really…read moreenjoys eating steak and potatoes or sometimes a pizza) thought this was a good enough restaurant to return to. So what made it that great that my dad would give it such a high review? First, if you've never seen an advertisement for this place, prepare yourself for ongoing talking and some well rehearsed comedy from the chefs. There literally is a live cooking show being done with your meals right in front of you. This combination of humour and meal prep was a big hit for my family (the 5 of us were constantly commenting on how things were being cooked, what was new to us and encouraging the ongoing trials of the fork toss plus the salt and pepper tossing trick by the chef). Second, it might be a Japanese place but they have steak! You may have guessed with my intro but that was an important decision factor in choosing a restaurant. We wanted a different place for the early Christmas family gathering but something everyone could enjoy. Third, they're very diligent about respecting allergies. My sister-in-law gets very ill with her allergies. So it's nice not having to worry. They set her food specifically on one area of the grill and no other food was ever placed there. Hers was never combined with the rest of ours either. They also had a different soup for her to enjoy and did a vinaigrette on her salad instead of the house dressing. The food itself is a decent price for a fine dining experience and what you get with the dinner. There's soup, salad, grilled shrimp, grilled veggies and whatever you choose as your main. All with great flavour and you get two different dipping sauces - one being better for meat and other with vegetables. Obviously if you select the options of more seafood to accompany the main piece of the meal, the price is more expensive. We all kept it pretty simple. Two with shrimp dinners, two with New York steaks and one with teriyaki beef. We were all quite happy with our portions and if you feel you need extra rice, they will bring more out. If you have saved a bit of room, there's lots of dessert options too but that comes with an additional price. I really was quite happy with that large selection of mocktails to try but for those that want it, there's a large selection of mixed alcoholic drinks, wine, beer, etc. The place is accessible from the outside doors to the grill tables and even though my brother struggles to see in dim lighting, there's enough random lighting that we found a well lit spot at the table for him. I liked that I didn't have to watch for random levels or steps. There are a few booths throughout the restaurant for those that maybe want a more secluded meal but there's no grills for those spots. So after such a glowing review, why am I only giving it 4 stars? Well as I had booked ahead of time and specifically gave a number of 5 people for the reservation, it would have been nice to know we would not have anything started to be cooked, nor our meal order taken until they fill the rest of the table around the grill. If I had that information, I could have easily invited a couple of friends to join. However as this came to us as surprise, it meant even though we didn't know who was joining us, we were forced to awkwardly wait over 15 min to have them arrive and then start giving our order when they were ready. At least some of the drinks had made it out by then but the place was starting to fill up so the noise level was increasing. Luckily for us my mom randomly know the couple that was sat at our grill table but there were parts of the dinner you could tell they would have enjoyed having their own time as a couple (as I'm quite sure they weren't informed they'd be part of a bigger table being that they were surprised that my mom thanked them for arriving on time so we can now order when they are ready). It would have also been a different experience for my family too without the combined table situation. I had to remind the chef who's steak was being prepared due to the over eager guy wanting a well done steak the same time as a medium rare... Things eventually got served to everyone but only because I spoke up, I was able to get near to what I had requested (glad that my dad at least got his medium rare) even though everyone had reconfirmed orders when the chef was placing the meat on the grill. Lastly, the noise in the restaurant was so high at the end of our meal that not only did my dad stop trying to have a conversation but so did the rest of us. So instead of savouring dessert, I ate it quickly as all I wanted was to pay the bill fast and just leave the noise. I've gone once before on a week night back in April and it was more manageable for noise level. This being due to not all grills were full nor was the restaurant as full.

I didn't even know Sherwood Park has a Japanese Village and I hadn't been to one in about 15 years. We had 14 in our group but this wasn't an issue as we were all able to all sit around two grills with two grill cooks. Our server did a great job of taking our drink orders, filling up our water glasses and making sure we were happy. I personally started with a pint of their house beer and the Tuna Sashimi. Both were tasty. For my main course I had Teppan - Yaki Dinner (Teriyaki Chicken) It came with soup, salad and green tea. Our grill cook was a nice young man who brought a smile to our face and kept us chuckling. For the value, I was happy with my meal, the price I payed and the fun interacting with our cook. I would definitely go back with a group of friends.

There is a call button in the booth so that you can ring them anytime you need service. They also have the wifi password taped onto the wall in the both. The service was very prompt as soon as we pressed the button someone arrived within 1 minute. The staff was very kind and attentive. The restaurant wasn't very busy for a Saturday night which was kind of nice. They have a pretty decent sized menu with a variety of options. I love how they have photos of each roll and list which rolls are fully cooked and which ones aren't. We ordered the sexy mexican roll, volcano roll, and the scallop extravaganza. All were delicious! The fish was very fresh as was the rice. Each roll was a good size and packed with flavour. The price was pretty on par with all sushi places. Although I didn't order this, the tempura pieces were massive from the orders I saw that went out. This is definitely a place I'll become a regular at. They have two locations (Edmonton south and Leduc)
