After spending all summer in San Francisco, I had the pleasure of trying Sushiritto once. Well okay, maybe not once... or maybe tens of times... One day on Snapchat, I see a bunch of new sushi burritos and planted bobas... only to find out that they're from Berkeley! Can you imagine how excited I was? NO MORE GOING TO SF JUST FOR SUSHI BURRITOS. I went one day in between class (such a struggle to walk there) and got B3 with a planted boba drink. It wasn't too packed, and they did get my order quite quickly. Now, first off, their planted boba drink was a rip off. I got jasmine milk tea and it was a bit watered down... for its cost and size. Being a chronic bobaholic, where Sharetea and Purple Kow lie nearby, I can honestly say I will never buy boba here again. WELL ANYWAYS... to the meat of the review, B3 was a roll with raw salmon in it? (I forget the names, honestly). But I did get this because of that... they have some hipster names for carrots and cabbage... which I don't think was worth it? Meh... wasn't too delicious. It was an $8 roll, which while packed with quite tasty raw fish, didn't blow my mind. It was a decently sized roll, but I don't think they're good at wrapping because my roll kept falling apart. Was kinda disappointed with the potted plant milk tea. It was good but after i left it sit for an hour the oreos got soggy at the bottom and the milk and tea separated. Ended up throwing it away. Other than that the food is bomb. Half filled me up and was able to save the rest for later. Prices are reasonable for how much food you get. Much cheaper than going to any other japanese restaurant. I am definitely a fan of Sushi Secrets sushi! Get the specialty rolls! That being said, I think the specialty sushi rolls are why it is a 4 star for me and everything else that keeps me from giving it a 5 star. I highly recommend the Dragon and Lion King rolls! They are both hearty, flavorful rolls that are what one should expect of a specialty roll. A bonus is that the to-go container is sturdy and microwavable for these rolls is re-usable for homemade meals (essentially free tubberware). The custom poke bowls are average in my opinion (they were spectacular when they first opened, but seemed to have scaled back in portions since then). Being at the downtown Berkeley transit hub, I'll pick up a bowl to-go if I'm in the mood and waiting for my bus/bart. The sushirrito is a failed concept in my mind, given how nori tends to tear. I don't think Sushi Secrets version is any better/worse than what I have had at other places. If you want amazing specialty rolls, Sushi Secrets is the place! read more

My first time to sushi secrete, and it was a great lunch! The store is small but with 5 or 6 tables inside. I had a B5 (honey walnut, shrimp tempura, sweet corn with Japanese kimchi sauce), for to go. The service was really nice, and you could see the entire pipeline of them making your burrito while waiting! Also you get the option to design your own burrito. This is my go-to place whenever I'm feeling hungry! I come here pretty regularly and plan on coming here a lot more before moving out of the bay. The sushi burritos are great but lately, I've been doing the 'Build your own bowl' option. My recommendation is the two meat option -- I like getting crab and salmon with anago and toasted garlic sauce. So delicious! Walked in on a saturday afternoon. No crowds. They had a few tables for sit down seating. They have sushi burritos, raw and not. Poke bowls, milk teas, and smoothies. I ordered B3 & B6. Both are raw burritos on the "spicier" side I was told. My favorite was the B3. I liked the chopped spicy tuna over the blocks of ahi tuna in the b6 because the blocks were harder to eat. B6 had straight jalapeños making it spicey. I love corn!! But in the b6 it was ok. Also liked the garlic chips, but the sauce was a little sweet for me. The B3 had spice in the tuna and had hints of wasabi and the sauce was gooooooood!! Wish the sauce was distributed better tho. A lil small for $9, but I'd treat myself to a B3 on occasions. Avocado smooth was bland. It BARELY taste like avocado. I swear I only saw them put half an avocado in it...smh read more

It's conveniently located, but the food just makes me quite unwell. My friend has suggested that I request no sauce (which in hindsight, makes a lot of sense--the sauce is probably what tasted so off to me), but I've already had enough sub, sub par experiences here. This place is pretty good! A friend and I came here, and we split half and half B3 and B8. B3 had salmon and spicy tuna, and B8 had tuna. Raw fish, yep! The fish was quite fresh, and there was a good amount. The fish was pretty cold though. The sauces in each were unevenly spread out, so some of it was super flavorful and some of it wasn't. The rice is good, and the vegetables are fresh and delicious. I would recommend it! There isn't a big amount of food, so the quantity for the price ($8.75 post-tax) is somewhat low, but it's definitely not bad. Plus, there are stamp cards, so for every 10 purchases, you get one free! I think this place deserves 3.5 stars for the food, and the ambiance is nice. There are tables and chairs to chat and eat, and there are some couches and sofas in the back. I may be back if I'm feeling like eating sushi and if I'm not too hungry! read more

For the price, this place is a great deal. I love to get their sushi burrito, it's only $9 for some and includes quite a bit of fish. The flavors are also very tasty from their sauces and inclusion of kim chee in some of the burritos. It's a relatively big portion though I imagine it might not satisfy everyone's appetite. Decent sushi burrito place. I like how they have a make your own component. I've been to wrap n roll in downtown Sacramento a couple times and I was just a little disappointed that this burrito(B3 I think) I got didn't taste like the one I usually get at Sacramento(triple sashimi). Anyway, the good thing is that their burritos are a little cheaper and won't go over $10 unless you buy the Make your Own. Overall, nice selections. These guys are seriously bomb.com. Came here with my lady and we both loved it! True it's a knock off sushiritto whom I love, but you can make your own sushi burrito so that's way kool. I made my own of course and she ordered b8. They're big and filling. Way bigger than sushiritto for sure. It tasted fresh and delicious. Maybe a little too much crab but it's ok. I would rather have too much than too less. We also ordered the potted Thai tea which to me was super bland and tasted watered down but it was ok. Definitely will venture here again read more

This place kinda sucks. The fish is clearly not very fresh or high quality (tuna is straight up mushy, salmon with the grey fatty portion still on it, etc). That was the biggest issue. The veggies/sides are average, but they're missing some crucial things relative to other poke places (pinapple/mango, purple cabbage, onions that are sliced NOT diced, green onions, etc). Sauces all kind of overpowering; nothing 'light'. Ambiance was dreadfully depressing. It's kind of hard for me to overstate how depressing the lighting and everything was. I've come here a a couple of times within a short period... The first time I came it was pretty good, but as most people said there wasn't enough fish in it. So during my second trip my boyfriend and I got 3 sushirittos (one each and one to split as a snack for whenever). We asked for extra fish in each roll... Honestly I preferred it with less fish. Their raw fish is not fresh. It's not bad, we didn't get sick from any of it but it is not appealing to eat so much of it... hence why they probably put so much crab in it =p For the price and portion this is a pretty good deal. I would personally probably just get their cooked items in a sushiritto instead..or not ask for more of the raw fish =p If you want a QUALITY sushiritto this isn't it unfortunately. read more

Though not as delicious as Sushiritto, Sushi Secrets definitely does the job when you're craving for a sushi snack in the Berkeley area. I tried the B3. Though it had an excessive amount of cream cheese, I was definitely satisfied by the portion sizes. The prices are reasonable too. Under 9$ for a good sized sushi burrito. Although there are not many options to choose from, I would recommend anyone to come here if you're hungry for a good snack. The potted milk tea drinks are great too. My housemates and I are HUGE fans of Sushirrito, so when we found out that there was going to be a sushi burrito place near our apartment, we were stoked. While I will always be a diehard Sumo Crunch lover, when it comes to price and convenience, Sushi Secrets is a viable competitor. The first and last time I came here, I ordered B1, the Amambuki. The Amabuki is kind of a play off a California roll, with the addition of shredded carrots and red cabbage. I wasn't exactly sure how I enjoyed the carrots or red cabbage particularly, but everything else was good. The only complaint that I have was the shape that my roll was cut into. While cutting the rolls into such sharp angles makes the roll more aesthetically pleasing, it makes it very hard to enjoy without dropping bits and pieces of ingredients onto the table. read more

I like that there are many options to choose from (for making your own sushirrito). I've only been here 3 or 4 times, but the sad thing is they recently raised their prices while decreasing the portion size. I recently ordered their custom sushirrito with jasmine milk tea combo, but the lady at the cash register forgot about my milk tea until I specifically asked her. I thought it was going to take a bit of time (like regular boba/milk tea places), so I waited. I finished more than half of my sushirrito by that time. When I showed her my receipt, she went over to the nearby fridge, took out a container of milk tea, poured it into a cup, and handed it to me right then (it took less than a minute). They didn't even seem to be in their busy hours. With forgetful employees and raised prices+decrease portion, I don't think I'll be coming back here for a while. read more

I got one of the first premade burritos on the menu. The fish was fresh the burrito wowed me aesthetically because of the bright colors--but once I took a bite, I honestly wasn't sure if I was enjoying what I was eating. All of the flavors were just fighting each other for me, but I think if you make your own burrito instead, you won't have this problem. We also got the takoyaki (octopus balls) which was just bad. Both of us ate one ball each and threw away the rest. I think I would come back and try a poke bowl, a salad, or build my own burrito, but I don't think I'll go for the burritos on the menu again. There was a create your own option but they weren't able to explain what the options were. Starving and hangry I just chose something off the menu. It was MEH! I gave it another try with some friends and thankfully they made a create your own menu now. Yay!! And now I really like it. They put generous amounts of fish and the sauces are good. I usually get crab and salmon.. Their toasted garlic sauce and their wasabi sauce are the best. It's also pretty awesome that you can put as many toppings are you want. It works for all folks everyone since it's customizable. I also really like their avocado smoothies. It's the perfect amount of sweet and creamy. They use real avocado so it isn't overwhelming sweet! I do wish that the service was faster.. It usually takes a while to get my food and if I order a smoothie, I won't get it till I'm halfway done with my food! Also... They should have a better stamp card option... I really don't understand their current option. I like the place, but in order to get a free burrito you have to go 3 times a week?! The rice is the heart of sushi, but in the sushi burrito I ordered, there wasn't much rice. The fish was okay. However, there were too much cabbage/carrots. Hence, the bite was too crunchy, and I don't quite feel the 'melt in your mouth' feeling that I like with raw fish. Friendly and quick service, the place was has both indoor and outdoor seatings. There were outlets available. Pretty chill and nice environment! The place is dimly lit, has sofas at the back of the shop, and is pretty clean! An-OK spot for lunch. read more
