    Tatami Table
    JC N.

Went by the new location that just opened on Bird Road across from AD Barnes park for dinner with our daughter who was in town for spring break. The location is very very nice inside. Has to be the nicest Sushi Sake I have visited. Decor is contemporary modern Japanese. They have a full bar at this location, very nice. They have a great selection of top shelf liquors and infused Sake. There is plenty of sitting from booths to table to even tatami table. We sat in the tatami tables which was fun, we ordered Chicken Rangoon's which is a house special. I had a miso soup and a yummy roll. Both my wife and daughter had a miami heat roll. Service was good, ambiance was very nice and food was delicious. Can't wait to go back and try the infused sake.

You sit at the counter and get to watch the chefs prepare each course right in front of you. Everything was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. The restaurant itself is intimate and modern, and the whole experience almost makes you feel like you've been transported to Japan for the evening. They also offer sake and wine, including pairing options to go along with the omakase. Definitely recommend Shingo if you're a big sushi or omakase lover and want a special dining experience in Miami.

Smoky, glazed eel meeting briny caviar in one bite ...I actually paused for a second on that one. Hotate with seasonal vegetables kept things light before the tachiuo don came through. Then the nigiri run: makogarei( marbled flounder ), kinmedai(golden eye snapper) kohada(gizzard shad), nodoguro(blackthroat seaperch) you can literally taste the sourcing in every piece. And the bluefin tuna trio (a 309lb catch straight from Yamaguchi) was genuinely the highlight of the night. Fatty, clean, melt in your mouth good. Ikura and Hokkaido uni kept the luxury going before the negitoro handroll and tamago brought it back to something simple and comforting. Cheesecake and matcha ice cream to close it out .. it was sweet without being too much. This one's staying in my top omakase spots in Miami. Worth the price tag, worth the hype.

I will say the sushi roll itself (while not necessarily small) was not all that large/filling, so I would recommend getting something else on the side. I liked that their roll and appetizers had a fun flavor and uniqueness that I haven't seen at other places. But I will say the prices are a little expensive but I guess average for Miami area. I was surprised to find single-use chopsticks over reusable ones. A small detail in an otherwise fairly nice restaurant that did kind of stick out to me. The vibe kind of felt like a mix of a slightly more upscale restaurant, but also kind of minimalist modern if that makes sense? Additionally, our service was a bit slow, with our waiter right over our shoulder asking if we were ready to place our order, no then not being around for the rest of the meal. Maybe it was just an off night though, and the food did come out fairly quickly. Overall I did enjoy my meal here, and I would probably come back eventually when I want something slightly more upscale. But on a day-to-day I would probably go Edward for my sushi fix. Not that the food was bad by any meals. I really enjoyed the fun and different flavor combinations, it's just a little pricy to go to everyday, and in my opinion the main portion sizes don't quite reflect that or have any particular flare to them aside from a colorful/flavorful sauce or topping in them. Recommend a try if you are nearby though to see for yourself.

While they did offer other options, I opted for the full sushi experience - crispy rice to start and their sushi course for my entree. I went with a friend and we each got a different dessert to try - the matcha rice crispy and the hot chocolate chip cookie with ice cream. Everything was delicious. I love that you got to pick your roll and two hand rolls from the menu yourself, rather than the entire menu be pre-selected. The crispy rice were my favorite bites of the night - the salmon?! So good with the fried leeks or onions on top! Great service - and great happy hour prices for wine or sake!

The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a polished, inviting vibe. We had reservations, and the host welcomed us with a warm smile before escorting us to our table. Then came a fun Yelp surprise! Our waiter handed me a little gift from Yelp along with the menu. Talk about starting the meal on a delicious note! For my feast, I ordered the Assorted Crispy Rice, the Sushi Combo for my entrée, and saved room for the warm "Ligers" Cookie. Everything arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and the food was on point. The sushi tasted fresh and was nicely prepared, but the crispy rice stole the show for me! Crunchy, flavorful, and absolutely my favorite of the meal. And that warm cookie? Freshly baked vibes all the way! Soft, warm, and just done right. The perfect little finale. Now, here comes my one Yelp Elite observation... For such a beautifully decorated restaurant, I was surprised by the extremely casual attire. I spotted quite a few guests in gym clothes, while others looked like they had just stepped away from cleaning their house. Listen, I'm all for being comfortable, but when the restaurant has this much style, a little effort in the wardrobe department would definitely complement the experience. A simple dress-code guideline from management could elevate the entire vibe. Great sushi. Great crispy rice. Great cookie. Just bring the restaurant's dress code up to the same level as its food and décor. Overall, a tasty experience with plenty to enjoy, and yes, I'd come back for that crispy rice!

We have…read morewonderful places like the Michelin starred Shingo just down the street, of course, but that's $300 a person. Anaba is incredibly affordable for some amazing quality food. All of the sushi we tried in the Pandora's Box was excellent. The fatty tuna was melt in your mouth and all of the rolls were tasty and fresh. I don't normally opt for California rolls, but this might be the best I've ever tried. I had the onigiri bento and it felt like I was back in Japan. It's getting a little more common to find onigiri here, but it's still rare. And now I can say I have a legit place to get great onigiri. And I especially appreciated the delicious and so-authentic Japanese pickles that come in the bento. The umeboshi is just like I remember back in Japan. I loved the yakitori skewers, though the chicken ball skewer was a bit too sweet for me. My friend had the dark miso ramen which he really liked and said was better than Ichimi's ramen, which had been the best I've found here in Miami, so that's pretty high praise! The gyoza we had was better than any I've tried even in Japan. The perfectly crisp pan seared side was so good, and the filling was delicious. We liked all of the recommendations we got for our sake flight which we split three ways. I loved my cloudy sake-not too sweet and so clean tasting. Lastly, our waiter was awesome. Attentive, knew the menu well, had good recommendations and asked good questions. The sous chef saw us with our pup outside and had a big smile waiting for us letting us know they were happy to welcome us and our dog in the outside tables. I wished I lived closer, it's about a 40 minute drive, but that's not going to stop my wife and I from becoming regulars here. Can't say enough nice things about Anaba!

Server was pleasant and friendly but accidentally put in an order for an onigiri that we never ordered and forgot to put in the order for a black garlic ramen my friend ordered. When we asked about the missing ramen order he quickly went to the back to put in the order but ordered the wrong ramen which was a regular tonkatsu ramen. Another thing that was a little irritating was that the bathroom's paper towel dispenser was empty so you couldn't dry your hands after washing. Given that there was only one other table with two customers during the entire duration of our meal, it seems kind of inexcusable that the employees could not check and replace the dispenser while they were also using during the time of service. Regarding the meal, The black Garlic ramen was decent albeit slightly salty and the texture of the noodles was nice. My friends tonkatsu ramen was a little too creamy for the soup and came with thinner b noodles which was a little disappointing and unexpected as it was not mentioned in the menu that there were any differences in the type of noodles in each ramen choices. The sushi rolls were good. They were well made and flavorful. Overall I would recommend this place and think it's worth a try.
