I wanted to like this place but they made it really difficult. Upon arrival, the waitress walks us to our table and just drops the pencils and the "menus" on the table without a word. No greeting, no explanation, no price. For some reason, they also hired some droning female with a guitar as entertainment. We ordered some appetizers and sushi and then realized there was a hibachi station (since nobody bothered to tell us.) Went up and ordered some hibachi fried rice which was adequate. There is nice selection of sushi and appetizers on the menu and the food was delivered relatively quickly, although they forgot one of the rolls that we ordered. Asked for additional silverware which took forever from our lackluster personality-less waitress. We asked for another menu for a second order of sushi (which seemed like an inconvenience to them.) Seems like they don't want to encourage you, although it's billed as AYCE. After the droning female finished singing, they blasted bad music from the speakers...except it was the same 2 songs blaring over and over... Some sappy country song followed by bad Korean pop repeatedly. It was like torture. We finally asked them to turn it down and play more than two songs which they did...except that they moved on to obscenity-laced rap. I don't mind rap, k-pop, or even country (rarely) but it all seemed like it was more for the enjoyment of the staff rather than appropriate for the customers. The evening was made complete by cigarette smoke wafting in from the kitchen. My overall impressions: 1) I counted at least two big flies flying around the Hibachi section and fruit flies near my table. This sight of insects really made me wonder how clean the actual kitchen is and how fresh the sushi is. 2) The appetizers in general were fine-- they were probably the best part. Have ordered from here before and they're usually quick with take out where I've ordered probably double the food. We went to this restaurant for family gather on Sat evening. The food is just ok, notthing impress me. Service is extremely TERRIBLE.. We got a waitess who doesn't speak English much. Not only that she kept serving hot tea over my 1 year old toddler's head and put right infront of her. I removed the tea away from my daughter. She then served hot soup over my daughter again and put right into my daughter hand. My girl is a tough girl but screamed out of her lung this time. I got so mad and yelled at the waitress while rushing my daughter to the bathroom to rinse her hand with very cold water. No one in this restaurant came over to check on my daughter or offered any help. I requested to change the waitress... manager was no where to be found. They don't have a basic training of not to serve food over baby or any where near baby especially hot food. After we almost finished our dinner, the so call manager stoped by and acted like nothing ever happened. I told him how mad I was with the accident on my daughter's hand and no one bother to check on us. Guess what he said... "it's ok. I'll take care of you" !!! and left. Before I left the restaurant I told him his service is far the worst I ever seen and I never came back here again. The only thing he came up was "ok" . How stupid he is. First off they play very loud and bad Japanese light rock, the sushi was mediocre, they have signs everywhere saying if you don't finish your food they will charge extra, and they had a million employees standing around staring at you and talking to each other but it took forever to get the check. I visited Sushi Place on Memorial Day weekend on a Sunday afternoon. It's located in a strip mall off of Central Park Ave. which is easily located with your GPS. That Sunday was warm and they did not have the Air Conditioning on and only had the doors open ( no air was circulating ) this made it uncomfortable. You are given two pieces of paper to fill out with one being for hot food the other being for cold food. I've been to these places before so I know items that are ordered are not delivered especially Sushi. This place was no exception two times I placed and order for the Sushi Red Clam and did not receive it. If you don't have an item just say so it's alot better then giving nothing. The sushi and hot food were acceptable but not nice enough to warrant the price. The pluses are that the place appears clean in the eating areas and the bathroom was clean as well. Ordered dessert and they were out of red bean ice cream ( come on!!). They say first impressions make a difference? Well this place lacks in decor and overall welcoming environment. There was no welcome greeting, in fact there was no greeting at all. The first words were to follow them to a table. This place is a buffet, but it has an unusual way of picking your choices. You are given an order form with items to choose from. They bring your order to you and when you have finished your food you may then receive another order form to order more. My family and I were a bit confused by this system and the staff was unable to thoroughly explain it to us, maybe it was the severe language barrier. I love love love sushi..so add all you can eat and I'm a fan. I wouldn't say the best sushi I've ever had but for the price not bad at all. I also like that they are not selective in what comes included in the all you can eat. I usually stick to only the sashimi and sushi and some of the cooked sides like shrimp tempura, shumai, and age tofu. They also have a hibachi style options as well, but I never tried it. If I'm in the area or in the mood for some unlimited sushi this is definitely my spot. The staff is usually pretty polite and attentive out of the times I've been only one time I thought the service was lacking. But other than I'm definitely a regular. This was my first time getting sushi here and although this review won't be as detailed as my last.....I will quickly say it was not good nor was it fresh. The pictures of the grey salmon is still posted! I did not eat it because after seeing what looked like grey salmon....I would not want to end up with good poisoning......it's dangerous! My impression is that they sushi palace wants to make money even at the cost of customers. If I could see the salmon is grey then the workers who also have eyes should have seen that aswell. But I guess it's all about not throwing anything away because its money and not about quality. I will keep writing reviews and thinking about contacting the BBB. One star is being extremely generous this place is HORRIBLE!!!! My boyfriend & I went for dinner here tonight let me explain my experience, we walk in & i ask if they did hibachi they say yes & go to walk us in. This is not the normal hibachi restaurant where they cook in front of you they bring you to a table & on the opposite side of you is a man cooking the hibachi we decided to stay & try it out. They placed two different paper menus on the table with a pencil & walked away not explaining how things work i thought it was strange but i went ahead to read the options. On the top of the menu it says dont waste food or you will be charged then again it said that all over the walls. I was very confused by that. Im the type of person who never finishes my food & always takes my leftovers home so before we ordered i figured i would ask what that meant. The waitress said you cant take food home i was so confused & said ok we are going to go thank you always. Then said wait ill give you another menu. So the first menu was for a buffet style ( Which was never explained when we sat down) Still wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt my boyfriend ordered the buffet hibachi & I ordered my hibachi from the menu so i could take my left overs home. Now the price for buffet was never displayed anywhere on any menus. They tell my boyfriend to get up & get his food. He goes to the man who's going to cook for him and all the chicken, steak & shrimp is just out sitting there not covered or refrigerated. The shrimp & the water looked very dirty. He chose the chicken & steak just to give it a try, when he came back to the table i was grossed out by the way it looked. I called the waitress over right away asking if that was the same chicken they used & i wanted to cancel my order. I really wish i took pictures this all happened so quick. My boyfriend forced himself to eat the food he's not the type to say anything he just wanted to pay & leave. But i feel like if i just ordered my food it didn't get to the table yet & after seeing his food i shouldn't have to pay for that meal. Another waitress came giving me an attitude saying the food is already cooking & she didn't know if the chicken was the same. I told my boyfriend to get up we would pay for his food which honestly was maybe 4 fork fulls just to get out of there. They started screaming telling me no & giving me a check for $50. He literally had maybe 6 tiny pieces of chicken & steak. They didn't even give him rice. I asked to speak to a manager they said no one was there. Then some other man came over they are all talking in another language then another lady comes over now trying to tell me the chicken is different that my food is almost done & they will wrap it up for me. I said i do not want the food you never put it on my table i refuse to eat something that will probably make me sick. I said i will pay for his buffet meal & for the two sodas which we didn't drink. It was a big back & forth i couldn't believe they were screaming at me and acting this way. I am a new customer & i was being nice enough to want to pay $30 for a few bites of food that was gross and two fountain sodas we didn't drink. I was so glad we had cash since i usually use my card to pay for everything. I paid them $30 & left. Please save yourself time money & your stomach dont bother stepping foot in this place. They are scamming people & that is exactly why all over the walls it says you waste food we charge you. The food is horrible & they still want to get paid. Sushi palace is my favorite place to go for sushi and hibachi. It's an all you can eat sushi/ hibachi buffet. Before I never was a fan of sushi but coming to sushi palace it made me love sushi. There volcano rolls are amazing and the hibachi is great because you get to choose from whatever options they have. It is a great place to fill up on some amazing food and at a great price. Sometimes they don't give you everything that you order on the sheet but at least it's all you can eat. And I wish they would give you more sheets so you can just order more frequently. The sushi was so-so. The hibachi was very limited (rice and lo mein with meat and seafood). But the combination of both made this place worthwhile and interesting. I went twice. Plus it's was relatively cheap so I can't expect much. I am not sure I would go again but I didn't hate the experience. Sushi - I rate sushi a 2. The sushi rice is bland. The fish to rice ratio was too much toward the rice. The fish was fresh but not they were cheap cuts, so not very flavorful. Hibachi - I rate 2.5. I happen to like lo-mein so having it made fresh was kind of nice. My kids liked it as well. I wish there were more ingredients. Shrimp, chicken and beef along with cabbage, onions, peppers were available. Japanese- The cooked foods were ok. I rate it a 2.5. The udon was atrocious! It's a Chinese run place so they use that standard take-out soup stock which tastes like vegetable broth with Lipton soup mix it in. We threw it out after one bite. The fried stuff and dumplings were decent. Service - The service was ok but a little abrupt. Not bad. I rate it a 3. Ambiance - I rate it a 1. The first time we went, they were projecting a movie onto the back wall. (WHO PROJECTS MOVIES IN A RESTAURANT?!?!?) My wife and I were facing the other way so we didn't notice what was on until too late. They were projecting a RATED R movie for my 6 and 8 yr old girls to watch. They got to watch people shooting each other for the first time. It was not a fun night for the girls. They turned it off when customers complained. Upon entering the restaurant, you realized it's more of a sit down restaurant than a "buffet." They have booths, tables and a chef that cooks hibachi meals in front of you. Once seated at your table you are provided two menus; one contains all their sushi choices including; sashimi, sushi, Maki rolls and special rolls. The other menu contains there "Kitchen items"; soups, appetizers, tempura, teriyaki and hibachi and dessert. We were a party of two so for appetizers we ordered edamame, sticky chicken and fried calamari w/ red mango sauce. We order four different types of rolls. Everything was delicious, fresh and hot. The only alcoholic drinks the serve are beer and wine. We each order a glass of wine with our meal; Cabernet. For dessert the offer four different flavors of ice cream; vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and green tea. We settled for the strawberry and green tea. It was my first time eating green tea ice cream and I was pleasantly surprise to how delicious it was. We went on a Sunday evening so we paid the weekend price ($22.95) and the glasses of wine were ($8$ each. This is a good find along Central Park avenue if you're craving for Japanese food for money's worth. Menu selections are above par and they have good service, considering it's all you can eat. Servers are friendly. Just one comment is lack of accuracy on the table orders. Even though they use order sheets, they need to write down the table number so they don't get mixed up when they're giving the food. All in all, food is great and ambience is decent! After reading the reviews for this place on here, my mom & I were pretty skeptical before walking in. However, I have nothing bad to say about Sushi Palace...AT ALL! Service (on a Saturday night, mind you) was superb, and the food was so delicious! We got the hibachi (the chef cooks the hibachi for you near the buffet!), a volcano roll (HIGHLY recommend), 1 other special roll & a sweet potato roll. Definitely coming here again.
