1 million stars out of 5 if I could. I tried this place out on Friday night with my dad. My dad was hesitant since it seemed to be mostly catered towards sushi, but I reassured him that there is more to Japanese cuisine than just sushi. They had many different options like different ramens, yakisoba, hibachi, and even some Chinese food. So if you *really* don't like sushi, you don't have to feel left out or like you can't enjoy this place. My dad and I ended up sharing some starting crab sushi and he actually really liked it. For our entrees, he went with shrimp ramen and I got two sushi rolls - spicy tuna and rock n roll. He could not stop singing praises about the ramen. He tried a piece of my sushi and also notably liked it. To the point that next time we visit, he wants to buy a roll for himself. My sushi rolls were quite big portions to the point I needed to take a few pieces home with me, which rarely happens! The restaurant is not noisy, very clean and absolutely beautiful if I'm being honest. This would be a great place to go on a date night or have a get-together in my opinion. The staff is very very friendly and gentle. My family will absolutely be returning! The only notes I can really make that could be downsides to some people are: - Expect to pay between $20-25 per person, it can be a little expensive, but honestly well worth it if you ask me - Some of the mixed alcoholic drinks on their menu are not available. Look for the ones that have a price next to them, and that is what is available. I wanted to try a cocktail but it wasn't available. Not a big deal for me, but still noteworthy. 美味しい日本料理にありがとうございます!

The food was great as well as the service! Will be back again soon for lunch and to try new items from the large and improved menu.

Every sushi roll looks like a giant futo maki roll with rice busting out of the seaweed wrapping. The main ingredient in sushi is the rice and it lacks the vinegar zing as the other reviewer stated. Once inside, I was directed to a table in the corner. The service was prompt, and we received our orders quickly. A younger gentleman approached us and seemed a bit confused when I asked about the drink menu. We were looking for sake, and they had a decent selection of both wine and sake, but nothing particularly exciting. We decided to try the Hana white peach sake, which was a pleasant surprise. The food menus were in a state of disrepair, with staples holding them together. We started with some appetizers, including pork gyoza, crab rangoon, and spicy edamame. The pork gyoza was delicious, but the crab rangoon was quite crunchy and flakey with not much flavor. The spicy edamame tasted like it had been soaked in Franks' Hot sauce or Sriracha sauce, which I wasn't a fan of. I wish I had ordered them regular instead. For sushi, I opted for a shrimp tempura roll and a rainbow roll, both of which satisfied my craving. Overall, it was a decent experience for the price, but nothing stands out that would bring me back again and again like other places. I might come back and try the ramen and see if that changes my mind.

It was raining the night we went and so their having an umbrella stand in the "mud room" was nice. I thought it a good layout how you walk into a small area where you can wipe your feet then proceed further into the restaurant at the hostess stand. As we were walked to our table, we passed a "bar" where you can sit for your meal while watching the sushi master make everything. We were promontory seated and served water. When I asked for a hot sake, and he showed interest, the woman taking care of us said she could bring a larger serving and two cups. The wait staff were very patient with us as there was just so much mouthwatering options on the menu, it was hard for us to arrive down to what we knew we could finish. We ordered four rolls and shared all equally. It was a perfect way to try a lot of different t fishes - especially with one of the rolls being the Rainbow roll. The restaurant was quiet and intimate, a perfect date night. The lighting was enough so we could read the menus and see our food but dim enough to be romantic. I'll be honest I didn't notice the decor as a few of the tables had gotten some other interesting dishes that I ogled. I'll definitely be back!

I've never had a bad experience here -- the servers are all friendly, attentive, and efficient. I eat at Kampai for lunch, typically once a week. Their lunch special is unmatched. Their menu includes the basic rolls like your typical California roll, but they also have speciality rolls that are well-crafted. I highly recommend coming here!
