I apologize to those who come here. My husband and I arrived expecting a decent sushi restaurant. Instead, we were greeted by the relentless sounds of ongoing renovations and a dining experience that somehow managed to be even less appetizing than the atmosphere. Sushi: Between the two of us, we ordered eight rolls from the all-you-can-eat menu. We each sampled one piece of our respective rolls before promptly asking for the food to be taken away. The issue wasn't the texture. It was the questionable quality, the malodorous taste, and the dreadful aftertaste that lingered long after each bite. Eight rolls, and not a single redeeming one. Chicken Fried Rice: A culinary tragedy in its own right. The chicken arrived in paper-thin slivers, resembling shredded cardboard with the texture of stale pita bread. Bland, chewy, and remarkably difficult to swallow, every bite carried the sorrowful realization that a chicken had lost its life, only for its sacrifice to be squandered a second time by the chef's inability to prepare it properly. Miso Soup: Cold, flavorless, and entirely forgettable. Spring Rolls: Still frozen on the inside. Apparently, even the spring rolls weren't ready to be served. Our waitress graciously removed the dishes, leaving behind nearly full plates and two equally empty stomachs. We arrived hungry and remained that way, although our appetites had long since abandoned any interest in food that tasted as though it had been reheated in a microwave. Then came the most disappointing course of the evening: management. We requested that the food be removed from our bill, considering how little had been consumed and the condition in which it was served. Hailey, however, seemed to disagree. Rather than addressing our concerns, she suggested that the problem must have been our personal preferences, as the dishes we ordered were supposedly among the restaurant's specialties. An unfortunate defense, considering that a specialty should be a testament to a kitchen's abilities, not an excuse for its shortcomings. Neither my husband nor I raised our voices or approached the conversation with hostility. Yet Hailey escalated the situation by insinuating that we expected everything to be free. For clarity, we had ordered drinks and were entirely willing to pay for them. Our objection was to paying for food that was barely touched because of its unacceptable quality. As the conversation continued, the renovation noises grew louder, and so did the tension. Eventually, with apparent reluctance, Hailey agreed to remove one meal from the bill. She then took my payment card and remained away with it for approximately 13 minutes before returning. By that point, the evening had become an exercise in patience rather than hospitality. The final verdict? We arrived hungry, left hungry, and paid for the privilege of discovering just how disappointing a dining experience can become. Thank you, Sushi King, for leaving such an unforgettable impression. And a special acknowledgment to Hailey, whose handling of an otherwise resolvable complaint ensured that an unpleasant meal became an experience worth warning others about. A restaurant is not defined solely by what leaves its kitchen, but by how it responds when something goes wrong. Quality assurance, accountability, and genuine hospitality should not be extraordinary expectations. They should be the bare minimum. We had a pretty good experience recently at this Sushi King! I didn't realize this location was here -- used to be a terrible Italian place back in the day. Parking is a bit of a tricky situation, but if you park over at Barnes and Noble or JC Penny, you can walk over pretty easily. I came with my youngest, and he's a dumpling FIEND. Been known to destroy at least four plates of dumplings in a sitting, so it's totally worth the AYCE approach. I usually don't get my money's worth in these types of spots because they often won't let you take any additional leftovers home. So I've become pretty careful about my orders. What this place had going for it -- the portions were MUCH larger than I expected from my prior experiences at AYCE places. The sushi roll I expected maybe 4-6 smallish pieces, and I got 8 pretty large pieces. The nigiri was okay - not the best quality fish, but it was edible and fresh. The round of appetizers we got was hit or miss -- the tempura was DELICIOUS. The wontons were eh. And the dumplings were okay -- my only beef with that was...the beef! There are no pork dumplings on the menu, which is weird since gyoza is traditionally pork based. The beef ones were okay though - both steamed and fried (we tried both). In all, we got out of there with about a $50 tab for one adult and one kid -- and the waitress was kind enough to let us take some of the food home since I was surprised by the sizes of the servings. The manager Hailey said the cook placed fried rice with eggs and carrots in it. I told her that's not what I had and would like a refund. Returning to the restaurant wasn't an option. I told her I would send her a picture to show there's no egg or carrots. I wish I took a picture before I typed it. However, the rice was white before I added some of the Habichi meat and soy sauce on it to try to make it taste like the fried rice but it didn't help. She said she couldn't give me a partial credit. came in on a very quiet afternoon, I was sat in the back and asked if I could sit closer to the door but was denied. the service was not really attentive, the waiter asked if everything was fine as I got the food, the waitress forgot an order of edamame so I had to get up and find her. the steak habachi was very below par. the rice didn't taste fresh, and there were 10 bite sized steak pieces made for kids. the waitress tried to flirt with my coworkers and try to convince us to stay because "this is a buffet" but we mentioned we had to get back for work. she then charged us for a different table that was over $50, when we knew that wasn't correct. we waited longer for her to refund the charge and correct it, the manager (or some sort) was around the waitress, open toed shoes, looked really unprofessional for a restaurant. really she fooled me for someone to pranking the place and act as manager. just an overall uncomfortable experience, i'm not coming back. read more

My boyfriend was excited to take me here for dinner because I have never been. I must say, I have never met such a cold hostess in my life, Destiny. She saw us waiting for a hostess as she walked past. Did not say hi. She appeared to be completely miserable. We all have bad days but dang. She made me not want revisit because when we were seated, she took our drink order and said ok... I ordered a mix drink. She neglected to inform us that they did not serve liquor, I found that to be extremely rude. Nor did she offer a drink menu or come back to tell us the drink I ordered would never be served. Dinner was not busy for a Saturday evening. The decor is modern and the place was clean. It was disappointing that the salad bar was not open nor the ice cream machine. Unfortunately, it seems that their prices have gone up $5 but offer less. Regardless, the food we ordered came out hot and fresh and we have no complaints on any of that. I took my fiancé and a party of 7 here on Friday 2/16. My fiancé and I always come to this establishment and have never had a problem. Our server, Cam most definitely should not serve a party because it seemed too much for her. She constantly would forget our orders and would blame the kitchen. We were very kind a patient with her because it was a busy night and she did seem very overwhelmed but paying 24.00$ per person, and added gratuity to barely and I mean barely eat is absolutely ridiculous. We were practically begging for our food by the end of the night. I called to speak with the manager, whom I spoke with by the name of Jeremy. I used to love coming here. Maybe a 4 or 5 star at one point. They got rid of the buffet self serve bar. The food takes forever to come out, the servers are never around so you can order more. The portions arent what they used to be. I walked into the restroom when I first got there and it was disgusting. The floor was sticky, toilet paper and paper towels all over the floor, and the toilet paper rolls were sitting on top of the holder or on the floor. There was also a big unlabeled bottle of soap on the counter with soap spread all across it. The service was decent, the guy seemed nice. But we weren't given chopsticks or napkins. This Sushi King is in horrible condition. The women's restroom is absolutely disgusting. The last stall has an obvious leak with water running out in to the floor of the restroom with a slip and fall sign. This is not acceptable as toilet water is all over the floor. The wall of the first stall had something unbeknownst to me, all over it. Looks like human waste. Toilet paper was not in the toilet paper holders, just exposed to the elements which is very unsanitary. The roll looked wet as well. The paper towel holder didn't have paper in it either. It was sat in the disgusting looking sink with water all over it. When I left the restroom I asked the staff at the front desk to please attend to the restroom, 2 of the women looked at me like I was crazy. The 3rd lady smiled and said she would take care of it. ​ The carpets in the restaurant is sticky and filthy. The tables were sticky as well. I think the health department t needs to make a visit to this restaurant. I give this place a 1/10 for cleanliness. The food was not as good either. My volcano rolls were supposed to be made with crab meat according to the menu, instead it had fish in it. I was in total disbelief. Overall, Total disappointment. My daughter's food had hair in it. This is my favorite lunch spot by far. All you can eat hibachi and dumplings are my favorites. Oddly enough I do not eat seafood yet I love "sushi" king. This is a wonderful place to go with a large party. I came here for a lunch gathering with a party of 35. The servers were very attentive with such a large group. I was very surprised at how quickly they brought out our food. They had a very efficient process and service. The food was delicious and value was great. I highly recommend trying sushi king. If I could give 0 stars I would. We will never again visit the Sushi King in Hampton. Jake had a Daddy Day with the boys today. They spent the morning jumping at Sky Zone and then the boys wanted to have lunch at Sushi King. Well, it did not happen because they refused to serve the kids. Jake wasn't going to eat, however, he was getting the kids lunch. They flat out refused to only serve the kids. Jake looked up their website and it doesn't say anywhere that you have to get an adult meal in order to get a kids meal. He asked if they had that printed anywhere, they did not. They had no policies stating you had to have a paying adult in order to serve children. He talked to the owner and the owner straight up said "sue me". In what setting does it make sense to refuse to serve children? Especially when there is a specific price set for them. They weren't free. He wasn't trying to just get free food, he fully intended to pay the child's price for each boy but the restaurant told him he had to pay for an adult meal in order to serve the boys. They wouldn't even let Jake order a drink without first charging him for a full meal. That's like Chick-fil-a saying you have to order an adult meal to then order a kid's meal. How does that make sense? I get that some restaurants have specials and some maybe even have those policies but they are written and known and the fact that the owner straight up said "sue me" is a disgusting way to treat a firefighter and his family on his day off. read more

How ridiculous and disgusting is that. That poor waiter looked like he wanted to cry but I applaud him for still doing his job! Can't say the same thing for that manager!! I overheard him trying to force the waiter to pay for people who left. Last time I checked this is ILLEGAL. I would know considering I'm an employment lawyer.
