Excellent service! I was stuck in traffic and stopped to give myself a break, grab a snack, and get food for dinner. I started with a hot sake to warm me up and some miso soup, which were both yummy. I had a tough time deciding on all of the rules that I was gonna take home, so I ended up taking home more than usual. I should've gotten the rush-hour roll because I was stuck in rush hour, but I didn't. I did get the classic rainbow roll because I love the freshness and variety of fish. We got the New York roll because I hadn't seen one with scallop, and I was really intrigued, and we liked it a lot. And I'll look for scallops on all sushi menus. We also got the diamond roll because we love yellow tail, even though it was baked, it was surprisingly good. Next time, maybe we should come home and eat inside, but definitely, this is on our must-visit list for takeout places when I'm stuck in traffic. read more

Sushi Itto was amazing! This restaurant is located right near north druid hills and Emory, making it a prime spot for any hungry college kids. They have quite a large menu but I think the best deal is their lunch specials. Starting at $13, each bento box style meal comes with soup, an entree, and plenty of sides depending on your choice. I chose the vegetarian and it was more than enough to fill me up for the rest of the day. They also had hibachi lunch specials ranging around $14 which also included soup and sides with your choice of meat. You can also choose to sub out your soup for salad for $1 if you're craving that signature ginger dressing. There was nobody in the restaurant when I visited and I wondered why. With great food at great prices, this place should be packed! The service was also stellar with our waitress coming to check-in on us every 10 minutes or so for refills and clearing plates. She delivered the check at a perfect time and gladly gave us to go boxes to pack our food. I will definitely be suggesting this spot to others and coming back myself ! read more

I've passed this place a dozen times and always wondered if the food was good. The name always made me laugh :D The restaurant was decorated very nicely and I was impressed with the cleanliness. It seemed to be a family owned spot since there were kids doing what looked like school work with their parents at 2 of the tables. Miso soup was excellent, more flavorful than others I've had. It came lukewarm warm though. I won't hold it against them. I got the deluxe combo which was pretty good. The dragon roll was really good! Glad I stopped by. While getting my Tesla serviced, I stopped by for lunch today and ordered the shrimp tempura bento, but was disappointed to find that the shrimp wasn't actually tempura-style. It came out heavily breaded like fried shrimp, which wasn't what I expected based on the menu description. I took one bite, let the server (Eka) know right away that I didn't like it, and asked if I could switch to something else. I was surprised when I was told I could order something else, but I'd still have to pay for both-- despite not eating the first meal. Most restaurants would comp or swap a dish when a customer doesn't like it after just one bite, especially if the item isn't as advertised. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case here. I left without ordering anything else and felt pretty disappointed by the service. Judging by the empty dining room on a Friday at lunch, I may not be the only one with this kind of experience. Pleasantly surprised! This place really satisfied my Sushi Fix. I ordered the Braves Roll and the Volcano Roll! Volcano was one of the best I've had in years. All fresh ingredients and served at the right temperature. Braves roll was tasty as well but not as good as the Volcano. It was quite heavy being that it was deep fried and also had a thin slice of beef. I'm glad I tried the Braves roll but will try another next time... I also ordered the Chicken Yakitori which had a delicious grilled taste. The order was a bit small to be $8.50, but they did pack a flavorful punch and came neatly packaged. For the price, the food was great. My total bill with tip was $12. I ordered the shrimp tempura roll and it was really good. There wasn't very many people there since it was 12:30pm on a Saturday so it was pretty empty. My friend ordered a miso soup, house salad, and a shrimp tempura roll as well and she really liked all of it. The only bad thing I have to say is our waitress wasn't super great. I think she's the daughter of the owner or someone who works there. She wasn't the most friendly and accidentally brought us something we didn't order. I've been here many times and brought my friends and family but after this last experience i won't return. The waitress was sweet but pretty flustered, that's fine. Our roll came with a HAIR in it. It was only on one piece so we put it to the side and said we don't need a new roll but maybe a small discount since we can't eat the entire thing. The owner refused a discount. We ordered the teriyaki chicken platter and the fried rice was nasty, chicken was under seasoned and just overall unimpressive. We ate a few bites to taste it and then tried to send it back but the owner refused to take it off our bill since "it's what we ordered." You don't order food that's nasty. We requested to speak to the owner directly to get this cleared up but he avoided us and took off the roll but made us pay for the chicken dinner since it was more expensive. I was really pleasantly surprised by my recent takeout order from Sushi Itto on a recent Friday evening. Although it took a little while to arrive, the quantity and quality left me highly impressed. As a vegetarian, I always find it a bit difficult to navigate sushi spots, but Sushi Itto really delivered on its vegetarian options. I went with a cucumber roll, an avocado roll, and a special Hana roll, which featured cream cheese and various fresh and pickled vegetables, alongside some of their delicious spicy mayo. I placed a to-go order around 6:00 pm on a Friday evening through Yelp/Grubhub and my food was ready when I arrived at the specified time. My order consisted of: Fried Calamari ($11.00), Clear Soup ($2.50), Volcano Roll ($13.00), and Cheese Puffs ($5.50). I was pretty pleased with everything, but not sure what to make of the cheese puffs. They kind of tasted like the filling of a krab rangoon but coated in panko and deep fried. I did, however, like the tempura style batter on the calamari, and the fish tasted very fresh in the sushi. I usually love clear soup but I think that's the type of thing you need to order in person due to the tempura bits they usually include. By the time I'd gotten home with my order, the soup wasn't as hot, and the tempura had disintegrated. It would have been better if they'd packed it separately. Overall, this is a good choice for sushi in the area, and the prices are pretty reasonable. I've been going to Sushi Itto since I moved to the area about 3 years ago. There is another sushi place close by named Taicoon Sushi that is also very solid but there is just something about Sushi Itto that keeps bringing me back. The pricing is very fair and I've always left the restaurant happier than when I got there. I love the quiet and laid back dining experience. They typically play orchestrated covers of Disney movie songs and my girlfriend and I also enjoy trying to guess the movie the song is from. I've also convinced myself anytime I go there I'm helping out a local business/family which has justified getting their food way more often than I should. Definitely worth checking out if you want some solid sushi without spending an arm and a leg. read more

The couple of things I've had from here are mediocre at best. I had the rose red sushi roll, which was ok. The cucumber salad was very bland, although it had ponzu sauce, it needed either more ponzu or sesame seeds or just a little something extra. The green tea was good. Sushi Itto rates somewhere between 2 and 3 stars. This is a mid-tier sushi restaurant. The quality of the sushi is OK, but the prices are mid-to-upper tier. In most cases, you're better off spending a bit more and going to a nicer, more authentic sushi restaurant for significantly higher quality sushi or backing down and going a "cheaper" joint where the drop-off in quality is marginal. Sushi Itto is located in the Briarcliff La Vista shopping center. This is the same shopping center as Thai Chili and Broadway Cafe. The restaurant is spacious and casual. Not much in terms of ambiance or decor, but the space is clean and the furniture is nice and in good condition. There's a staffed sushi bar in the back, which doesn't seem to be too well stocked. The menu has over 40 "Americanized" sushi rolls, most priced between $10-15 each. I always prefer the more traditional nigiri (slices of fish over rice), of which there are over 20 varieties (sashimi, slices of fish only, available too), most priced $5-7 for 2 pieces. They've got an $18 chirashi bowl (slices of various fish over rice) and an assortment of non-sushi Japanese cuisine. Examples include tempura, yakitori skewers, donburi rice bowls, teriyaki, and udon noodle soup. The foods are nicely presented. I've tried the seaweed salad and it's good. It's served in a neat-looking, cone-shaped bowl with a small base. The seaweed is fresh and flavorful. It's topped with spicy mayo, orange smelt roe (fish eggs), and black and white sesame seeds. A light, refreshing dish. A couple rolls I've tried include the Black Pearl Roll and the Dragon Roll. The Black Pearl Roll consists of scallop, yellowtail, fish eggs, green onion, imitation crab, eel, avocado, and eel sauce. The Dragon Roll is similar and consists of imitation crab, green onion, spicy mayo, avocado, eel, and eel sauce. As far as sushi rolls go, these are quite alright. The avocado is ripe and the savory, somewhat salty eel (unagi) sauce is what gives these particular rolls most of their flavor. The nigiri I've tried include: Masago (smelt roe) - small orange-colored eggs Saba - mackerel Tai - red snapper Sake - salmon Smoked salmon Maguro - tuna Hamachi - yellowtail White tuna Scallop Tamago - egg omelet These are the more common and "basic" types of nigiri. You won't find sushi like toro (fatty tuna), uni (sea urchin), or more unique species of fish here. The nigiri seem sufficiently fresh at best and no piece sticks out as being particularly delicious. If anything, the fish generally seem more bland than anything. I do like the clear chicken broth soup here and it's a nice alternative to the usual miso soup that Japanese restaurants formulaically roll out. Each bowl comes with a little bit of mushroom, green onion, and tempura flakes. It's mildly rich/oily and comforting. The house salads (topped with ginger dressing), included with some meals, are pre-made and sit in a fridge until ready to be served. These are, of course, less appetizing than freshly made salads served in room-temperature bowls. Service is good. In the end, Sushi Itto is not a bad sushi restaurant. It's just that there are better options out there. read more
