Came to visit my Mom for a few days and had to make sure I got my favorite sushi rolls from my favorite sushi spot. I called in my order and was told my order would be ready in 20mins. And it was ready when I got there. Because I didn't have a huge appetite I just settled for two shrimp tempura rolls. They were amazing as always. Everything I've had from here is always good. Took FOREVER for our food to come out, we couldn't believe it! But the food was great as always, just wish the wait was not so long! The fried rice was great and the sushi was amazing as well. I will add my praises to the wonderful sushi here without much other description. Due to the popularity of this place we know to order well ahead so as to not experience delays on our take out. I have not eaten in since the pandemic but in days of old the service was always good. read more

The food was absolutely inedible. Brown fish and chewy. The servers and waiters were extremely short and very rude. Had to wait to be seated when there was barely anyone in the restaurant. And don't get me started on the "ambiance". Absolutely UNREAL. Our seats were ripped up and extremely uncomfortable. There was barely any lighting at all and we were forced to sit extremely close to a loud group of people. We asked nicely to move and the waiter was very rude and told us we couldn't. The menu had BARELY ANY options there were no drinks available on the menu. Not even any miso soup or green tea. Me and my company each ended up getting a roll and it was borderline INEDIBLE. This place needs to be shutdown, and I don't even mean to exaggerate or sound extreme. DO NOT eat here. read more

Third time visiting Sushi Cafe, it's a nice quaint place. The lunch specials aren't fussy, but I would like to come for dinner and see what the rolls are like. Ordered a bento box and two rolls. Thank you fellow Yelpers for helping us find this gem. One of the best sushi restaurants we have been to. Excellent meal. Cute decor. Friendly staff. We ordered the Emperors Boat for 4 and it did not disappoint. It was huge and could easily feed 4 hungry adults. It also comes with tempura and the most wonderful salad with sashimi? poke?not certain other than it was so good!!! The best caterpillar rolls I have ever had also the Daniels roll was great. No kids menu but we ordered one chicken teriyaki ($12) for our kids to share and the server brought an extra plate. Huge serving easily feed 2 hungry kids and came with fried rice and fresh stir fried veggies. It looked really good and they enjoyed it. Only cons::: Service was so fast... I actually wished at times they would slow it down so we could just enjoy the meal without worrying about making room on the table for the next rolls. Closed on Sundays. Our meal was so good we came back again the same week but they were closed. :( bummer. We have to wait for another trip to Montgomery one day. read more

What happened? Sushi Cafe used to be dependably fantastic. Last night's food was anything but. Tempura wasn't tempura at all, it was batter-fried fairground food with the taste of rancid oil. The tempura sauce was sickeningly sweet. The spicy tuna hand rolls were smothered in gloppy sriracha mayo. The one special roll we ordered was very thin, small and tasteless. Again, what happened? So after all the reviews I figured I would try this place out. Was not too impressed with the sushi. The fish smelled fishy and no that's not an ignorant comment, i eat sushi on the regular and when it smells fishy it's going to taste as such. Went to dinner there for the first time last night with my husband and parents. We shared the emperors boat for 4. More food than we knew what to do with. The only thing that is disappointing is when you spend $100 and it doesn't come with soup AND salad. Just one or the other. We ordered an extra roll, which we didn't need, but the Texas roll was incredible too!!! Only thing not pictured is the seafood salad. I would have recommended more fish than lettuce. This is the best place I've been for sushi in Montgomery. Although the restaurant is fairly small, they have great customer service and quality sushi. I had the Daniels Special Roll, which is rolled shrimp tempura and veggies, topped with scallops, crab and special sauces. OK, so I've been coming to Sushi Cafe for years! I went to school here in Montgomery so I used to be a regular. Just late with a review. In town for a graduation so I HAD to stop. They are true experts for the lunch crowd. Its usually pretty busy here but the staff does a great job getting you in & out. Whether it's dine in or to go. I usually get a Bento Box or the amazing Daniel Special Roll. My favorite Bento Box is the Beef Bogolgi. Its seasoned really well with all sorts of spices especially garlic. Its very flavorful. The Box comes with a house salad, your choice of meat, white or fried rice, orange slices, & a 2 pc California Roll. All under $10! Now I will admit that the fried rice isn't the BEST but the sauce they give you on the side ( especially if you get the beef) makes up for it. Now about the Daniel Special Roll....it is unbelievable. The moment you dive in to devour it... the mountain of crab, shrimp, & scallops topple down. Like seriously. Its packed with so much REAL seafood that it's an entire mini meal of it's on. I always get full. Now this is a cooked & fried roll but it's awesome. Topped with spicy mayo & eel sauce. I get excited every time I eat it. If you're looking for some great fulfilling sushi & a delicious Bento Box. Come here. Its fast & the food is good! read more

Pretty darn delicious!! We went in as a group of five on a Tuesday night. There weren't any specials, but we were promptly seated and served. The avocado sunrise appetizer is incredible! The eel nigiri is delicious! I love the spider and dragon lady rolls. I liked it so much that I came back for take-out. They had my order ready within the quoted 15 minutes although they were very busy. Everything was there, to include chopsticks and soy sauce. Hands down one the best sushi experiences of my life! Excellent service from the moment we entered the door. This place is clearly a local favorite as the place began filling up shortly after we arrived. Luckily we got in early enough that accommodating our party of 7 was a non-issue. Husband started with Tuna Tataki and I started with Seaweed Salad. Both excellent choices! Husband and I shared four rolls. Daniel's, Texas, Black Pepper Tuna and Bagel. I ate all but the Black Pepper Tuna, because tuna simply isn't my favorite. Husband enjoyed that roll. I enjoyed the other three rolls very much! Texas and Bagel were my favorites! Not happy and won't be back. My vegetable hibachi in my bento box was soaked half way of this watery flavorless soup. Vegetable hibachi should be fried and not be served all soaked like that. Manager argued with me that it's just the moisture from the vegetables. I would pick up a piece of broccoli and it would literally be dripping with water. The Daniel Special Roll is really good though that's probably all I would recommend here. read more
