Sirloin fried rice
Victoria P.

This was a cute spot! It's "hidden" inside tacos del cartel and it's a totally different atmosphere when you enter. The table we were at was a little overstimulating because servers kept walking on both sides of us constantly. The lychee drink is really good! Everything was tasty! I had the Wagyu roll, short rib bao, sirloin fried rice, lamb and potatoes. The bao and rice were sooo good, definitely would run those back!

Stopped by Sushi By Us recently. The food was good overall fresh, flavorful, and presented nicely. You can tell they're putting effort into quality, and some of the rolls really stood out. That said, they're freshly opened and the back kitchen doesn't seem fully "well-oiled" yet. There were a few hiccups with timing and coordination, but nothing major just typical new-restaurant growing pains. Service was friendly, and the vibe has potential once they get fully dialed in. With a little more consistency and smoother kitchen flow, this spot could easily become a regular go-to. Overall: Good food, promising start. I'd give them another shot as they settle in.

Sushi By Us is hidden inside a Mexican restaurant, which was actually a pleasant surprise. Once you step inside, the entire space is under-the-sea themed. It truly feels like you're underwater while eating sushi. The concept is creative and immersive, and I loved that part immediately. The only downside to the ambiance is the space itself. It's very small, and it feels like they tried to maximize seating as much as possible. There's no clear walkway when you enter, so you're squeezing past tables saying "excuse me" and trying not to bump into people or their plates. It makes for a slightly awkward entrance. As far as service goes, the staff was kind and welcoming. However, there was some confusion at the start. Before we were given menus, we were told we would experience different courses that would be explained to us, almost as if it were a set-price tasting experience. But shortly after, another staff member brought us regular menus and asked for drink orders. There was no option for a one-price experience, so that was a bit confusing. We ordered one appetizer and two entrées: steak fried rice and salmon. The appetizer came out promptly and was very good. The steak fried rice was brought out next, mixed in front of us, and plated. It was wonderful. We decided to wait for the salmon so we could enjoy both entrées together. About 25 minutes passed with no salmon. After we asked about it, it came out shortly after. The waitress explained that because the tables are small, they typically do not bring out multiple plates at once and wait until you finish one before serving the next. While I understand the space limitation, we did order two entrées and expected them together. I ordered my salmon well done. When it arrived, it looked beautiful on the outside but was very raw in the center. I asked for it to be cooked longer. Another 25 to 30 minutes passed. At that point, I let them know that if it wasn't ready, they could cancel it and we would just pay and leave. Salmon, even well done, does not take that long to cook, so it honestly made me wonder if it had been frozen and needed extra time. The waitress apologized, removed it from the bill, still boxed it for me to take home, and offered a complimentary dessert. We chose cheesecake. Unfortunately, the to-go packaging created another issue. The containers do not sit flat inside the branded bags they provide. By the time I walked to my car, juice from the salmon had leaked through the bag and onto my dress. The bags are very nice aesthetically, but practicality matters more. Either the containers need to fit the bags properly, or regular flat-bottom bags would make more sense. The cheesecake was also disappointing. I opened it immediately after leaving and it was extremely soft, almost like yogurt. It didn't have the firmness you expect from cheesecake, and without a spoon, it was impossible to really eat. To be fair, this restaurant has only been open for about two weeks. There are clearly some kinks to work out with timing, communication, and packaging. The concept is strong, the fried rice was excellent, and the staff was polite and apologetic throughout the experience. I would absolutely give them another try once they've had more time to settle into their rhythm. The foundation is there. They just need to refine the execution.

Christian was an amazing server. He was very attentive and nice. The food was so good. So fresh. The cocktails were out of this world.

Everything was phenomenal. The tuna crispy rice had the perfect crunch, the mushroom dumplings were rich and flavorful, and the spicy tuna roll was fresh with just the right kick. The alligator bao and short rib bao were both standout, soft, savory, and packed with flavor. The sirloin fried rice was incredible, cooked perfectly with great texture and depth. The ambiance and service were amazing as well. Definitely a cool speak easy vibe. Easily one of the best nights out I've had in a while.

I had a different experience as we went before 7 pm, so no cover charge and we did not have any of the issues with bad service. The drinks were ok, and I agree, a little overpriced. The Atelier Vie Rouge was a nice drink, but I left without feeling any effects, so perhaps also on the lower end of ABV. I also agree that the plastic drink cups could use some enhancement. Surely, there are plastic or perhaps even some eco-friendly materials that are shaped more in line with the atmosphere However, the inside is the attraction here, and it was a relaxed, goth-cool vibe. There also is a very persistant tarot reader which puts off the entire mood, especially when you're continously asked to have your tarot read... i must give it to the drinks, I tried 2 and they were amazing, the Love Potion comes with a souvinier glass mini bottle, to take home and the bottles def are amazing. The couches are very mystic and the decorations have an vampy aura around it, which is pretty awesome.. Minus the tarot reader and the non pic policy and the cover charge, its pretty awesome...

There is an area with a bar and some booths and then an open doorway to another room with tables and a stage. That's it. When we sat down at the bar, my husband started to ask the bartender if he knew anything about a Praline Old Fashioned because he had it somewhere else and loved it. The bartender cut him off rudely and gave him an attitude saying he had no idea. So he just ordered a regular old fashioned. The bartender basically slammed it down on the bat in front of him, a foot away from the napkin he had previously put down in front of it. It was served over regular ice. I'm sorry but for the prices they are charging, they should have specialty ice balls or cubes for and Old Fashioned. I ordered an espresso martini which was AWFUL. Even the door to the performance area is this giant mirror looking piece that makes the whole place feel extra theatrical. I can't wait to go back and I'm definitely bringing friends next time. This spot is a gem.

Front seats are WORTH the money!! Each artist got to highlight a song of their choosing and each one ATE! They left no crumbs. I must have been a smiling fool in the 2nd row seats, but music, personally, is the best way to get through me. Years in music myself, I understand the dedication and commitment it takes. The Apothecary was the cure. We grabbed seats mid bar and before we even finished settling in, there were waters waiting on the bar. That simple move already separated this place from the chaos outside. It's hospitality in its cleanest form: welcome in, take a breath, we got you. Inside is low light and old time apothecary mood, menus like a spellbook, but it's not gimmicky. The bartenders move like they've done the reps. Calm. Precise. No frantic showboating, no syrupy cover ups, no sloppy pours even with the parade energy banging on the door. We ordered two and they were both dead on. Alchemist Elixir: pea flower gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon. It shows up pale violet with an orchid on the rim and yes it's pretty, but it's also disciplined. Floral without tasting like perfume. Bright without being sour. A drink that makes you slow down. Plus a magic chemists surprise. Corpse Reviver #2: local gin, Lillet Blanc, Grand Marnier, absinthe, fresh lemon. Cold, crisp, citrus first, then the herbal edge and just enough absinthe to remind you what city you're in. Served in a textured coupe with a cherry skewer, details handled like they actually matter. Outside, the streets were selling amnesia in plastic souvenir cups. Inside, The Apothecary was serving adults. Let Bourbon Street keep the grenades. Give me the anecdote .
