We both are from Los Angeles area who love sushi. It looked like family owned business (mom and pop). I always trust mom and pop's business. Their food is decent from appetizers to rolls. Especially size of rolls are big and flavors are well blend. 3 amigos and mango rolls are my favorite. My wife really liked fire cracker roll and double tuna roll. Their fishes were fresh and sauces they put was enough amount, instead of pouring all over unlike other places. The service is friendly and quickly responses to our needs. He is the chef and he takes his time with each creation. She scurries from the back where she is washing, to the front to take orders. A slight inefficiency. We ordered a California Roll & the Chef's Special Roll. The California was placed first and each piece looked larger than the standard offering. Then the Chef's Special Roll came out. Dudes & Dudettes, you'd better get some mouth stretching exercises going because each piece of the "Special" was as big as a saucer. This caused a small predicament. You see, I am not proficient with the sticks but I can get away with popping small morsels into my pie-hole. These bad boys required the food trap of VAVOOM, or a Cutco steak knife to make things easy. The product is to die for, as all the ingredients are off-the-charts fresh. The wife and I were totally impressed as this bang was definitely worth the bucks we doled out. In all honesty, you are basically eating two standard rolls when you order the "Special." The waiter was offering sample dishes to another couple in the small restaurant, but did not offer anything to others. This is a great mom and pop shop but they are pretty busy. When becoming busy it can take up to 20-30 minutes just for a roll. I like places that have the option of focusing as a take out sushi place and still provide decent quality sushi. The portions here are huge. I got 2 rolls and I had to save one for another meal. Their tempura is crunchier and tastes better than most other sushi restaurants, maybe its due to the type of breading they use (panko crumbs?). They also have vegetarian options of sushi which my boyfriend enjoyed. Keep in mind, the rolls are big so it's hard keeping it all together while consuming it. The minus 1 star was for the wait. The pricing is actually reasonable for a sushi place. I think now that I picked up a takeout menu, I can just call in an order for pick up to save time on a rush. As we were only in Indio for 1 day we were excited to eat some sushi. We eat a lot of sushi in Los Angeles so after reading the reviews we thought this would be a safe bet. Unfortunately, the sushi we got was very disappointing. The spicy tuna roll with crunchy rice was not even raw spicy tuna but rather cooked tuna. The taste was bland and ordinary. Our other selection was the shrimp tempura roll with avocado. This was really avocado with almost no shrimp at all. Very disappointing. Lastly, asked for some extra ginger with my order and was given what equated to the size of a quarter. Sorry I will take my business elsewhere in the future. read more

Just ate there for the first time since they just opened 2 months ago. The place was on the warm side but it is over 100 degrees out today. Service was slow but friendly & their internet & card machine was down so I had to leave to go get cash which was a bit of an inconvenience but the owner compensated with a discount which was nice. The sushi rolls were all huge. The spicy tuna was my favorite. California rolls were also delicious & fresh at only $4.95! I went with other people's recommendation and tried the firecracker roll and although it was good, it just wasn't up my alley with all of the sauces and everything poured on. I like the classic rolls better. At any rate, we will definitely be back to try other options. Really nice replacement for the China Joes restaurant that used to be here. Walking in was different since I was used to going to the counter and ordering as I would for the older restaurant before. The walls look way cleaner since they're not covered by boba fan posters anymore. Looks way bigger than before and cleaner plus you can see into the kitchens so they're not hiding anything. Clean for me! The food was fast and came out accordingly, I got the gyozas, spicy edamame, Baked salmon roll, and the Chefs special, which was a huge roll. Like BIG AF! I forgot to take pictures of my spicy edamame and baked salmon roll. The food is great and baked salmon was cream just as I imagined. I love this family-owned sushi spot. Their California Roll, Mango Roll, Philadelphia Roll, Baked Salmon Roll, Chef's Special are ones I've tried and loved. They're huge & very filling! I wouldn't order the udon soup again, it was very plain and it had like 2 broccoli pieces and one carrot slice. Miso soup was quiet basic, I've had better, but fair enough for the price. Their Mochi ice cream are one of my favs as they're soft and chewy, the strawberry ones are our favorite but the other flavors are good too. The only reason it's four stars and not five is that they are only open for pickup or delivery. Other than that the food is fantastic and the staff is great. I don't usually prefer to-go sushi but we've tried this place twice now and both times the sushi was really good. Good value and portion size. And they are relatively quick to produce. Meticulous. That's what I thought the second I walked in and saw the chef finishing up my order. I called for take out and got there about ten minutes after the call. They told me fifteen so I expected some wait time, but they were about done by the time I paid. Super casual and friendly joint. And again, meticulous. Among my friends, I'm the go to girl for sushi take out. Never been to a place that was so careful in packing, and there wasn't even any soup. They even packed the special sauces on the side! I ordered two rolls and wow. For the price, the rolls are big. You see eight pieces but I've seen other joints cut those pieces in half. They're big not because of rice, but it's loaded with the fish, the avocado, crab, etc. so very filling and very nice for the price. Tasted good too. And I'm stuffed. Ordered two rolls, coachella roll, and baked crunchy spicy tuna roll. Was told a thirty minute wait...and waited longer than that for two rolls. There was only two people working I assumed they were pretty busy. But after getting home and finally able to eat I wasn't amazed, the baked spicy tuna roll tasted like it was from a can. The Coachella roll was given very warm. A lot of people say this place is really good, but to me it was just alright. Majority of the sushi rolls on the menu are all similar to each other. Traveling out of town and stopped in for a quick lunch. Yelp showed 4.5 stars, so I popped in thinking it could be a nice hole-in-the -wall place. I hate to complain, but I have to warn anyone who attempts to eat here. This was absolutely the WORST sushi I've ever had. The fish smelled off, appeared it had been left to get warm and did not taste right AT ALL. Left spending $45, still hungry but too grossed out to eat for the rest of the day, and could only stomach 2 bites (trying 1 of each roll we ordered) The ramen would have been better if it were out of a .99 cent Top Ramen bag.
