Lucky for us we found Shoal Creek Dental Care! They have made our visits as pain free as they possibly can and we no longer dread making that appointment every 6 months. My first experience with them was a root canal. What a way to test the waters with a new dentist! Growing up I remembered being in pain every time I had to get a cavity filled, so I was expecting the worst when it came to the root canal. Amazingly enough I never felt a thing. Dr. Gaik, and his whole staff, were so kind and super patient with me as I worked through my nervousness. I have since transferred over to seeing the newest dentist at Shoal Creek, Dr. Hlavacek. I can not say enough kind things about her. She is so sweet and incredibly gentle. As I mentioned before I grew up thinking that fillings were supposed to hurt so when she stopped drilling at the first sign of discomfort and apologized for not getting me numb enough the first time I was shocked. If my mouth wasn't already pried open I think my chin would have hit the ground. You mean I'm not supposed to feel anything at all? I wasn't in pain, just slight discomfort and she took care of that! She made sure I was comfortable and very very numb before continuing on. She even personally called me the next day to make sure I was feeling ok. If you have been putting off going to a dentist then I would suggest you call Shoal Creek Dental. Dr. Gaik is very soft spoken and he will make you feel comfortable in his office (as comfortable as can be at the dentist). Dr. Hlavacek is in a class of her own....a class way above any other dentist I have gone to!

I highly recommend considering this office whether you are looking for a new dentist or happy with your current one. You will not be disappointed.

Dr. Lowe, I really…read moreappreciated the experience I had at your office yesterday, thank you again for your skill and the talent you and your staff exhibited yesterday. This was my first experience having a tooth removed by you and I was extremely impressed by your staff (front office), your nurse and ultimately yourself who took the time and effort to get my tooth deadened though I believe it was not an easy chore before removing the tooth. You seemed very skilled at properly deadening the gums by using a topical deadening compound along with a syringe before performing the tooth removal and I felt you did everything you could to minimize any difficulties for me as a patient. You did such an excellent job at administering the deadening medicine by syringe it was hardly noticeable. "Thank you" for explaining where my extracted tooth was located tended to often develop a "dry socket" but what has been impressive to me was the skill and talent you used to remove the tooth and now the following day, I feel where my tooth was removed is in the process of healing hopefully without the "dry socket" possibility. I know it may take a day or two before determining whether or not a "dry socket" is a possibility but I'm impressed by your dental physician's skill and the fact you told me to come back if I started to experience the symptoms of this condition and you would be able to help alleviate the problem. I would recommend you to anyone that needs to have a tooth removed because of your skill, talent and your staff seem very concerned for their patients. It is physicians and nurses like your staff that all patients want! Thank you very much! Sincerely, John V. Anderson, NCARB, AIA

5/16/2019 Update I have continued to go to this office…read morebecause it's close to my home and they offer later hours. My experience has improved and I'm much happier as a patient. I like that the hygienist took the time to teach me how to properly use my new electric toothbrush as incorrect usage was causing me some issues. I feel much more comfortable being a patient now. Previous post: I have tried several times to respond to the survey request that I received after my visit, but it always seems to have "technical issues", so here is my summary... Everyone was nice, but I didn't like that I made an appointment to see one doctor and was switched to another without any notice. I was also surprised to be told I needed so many fillings when I've only had 1 other in my life. I read a review that this was a concern of another patient, so that raises my concern that maybe I didn't really need all of them. I also asked about braces and was told that I would be scheduled for a consultation with the orthodontist, but that never happened. Lastly, I was a little surprised not to be given a toothbrush, toothpaste and floss. That seems to be pretty standard and most dentist offices, and as this was my first visit, this was disappointing. I mentioned when I scheduled my visit and when I came in for my appointment that I was wanting to switch from my old dentist; I would have thought knowing this would have alerted staff to be a little more attentive to things, but that wasn't the case. All in all, everyone was nice and the office is lovely, but I'm not sure that makes up for the slightly disorganized nature of how things seem to run. I will say, I've only been once, so I suppose it's possible they were having an off day.

The fees for services were…read moresignificantly higher than any other provider I've visited, and unfortunately, the quality of care did not reflect those costs. My insurance was billed an unusually large amount for a routine cleaning, which nearly exhausted my benefits in a single visit. I returned for a recommended treatment plan, expecting better results, but ended up paying a substantial amount out of pocket. Unfortunately, the work performed by Dr. Yip did not meet expectations, and I ultimately had to seek care from my previous dentist to have the issue properly corrected. Based on both the cost and the quality of care, I would not return or recommend this office.

The extraction and implant went very well, and I was very happy with the care I received from him. Unfortunately, my experience with the office staff was very different. I was understandably nervous and had several questions about the procedure, insurance estimate, paperwork and follow-up scheduling. I frequently felt rushed or as though my questions were an inconvenience rather than something they were willing to explain. My dentist made this appointment for me, and the only information I received beforehand was an automated text. I wasn't given a link to complete paperwork online, yet when I completed it at the office I was told that I could have done it online. I wouldn't have known where to find it. I was also concerned about the consent process. I signed several items electronically and asked for a copy of what I had signed. I was shown a laminated consent form that did not appear to contain all of the same wording I had just seen electronically, and when I asked for a copy of the electronic version, I was told that it was electronic and therefore they couldn't give me a copy. I intend to request it through the office in writing. Overall, I would absolutely recommend the surgeon based on my experience with him. I just wish the rest of the patient experience had reflected the same level of patience and communication, particularly with someone who was clearly nervous about having oral surgery.

My family ( and many people I've referred) have been seeing Dr. Schaller for years and we could not be more happy with the service rendered. I first went to his office just to get a second opinion. A well-known dentist in North Kansas City offered a Groupon for a cleaning and I went. Following that cleaning I was told I needed a crown and that I had two cavities. Thank goodness I did not go back. My appointment with Wolfgang Schaller was entirely different. I did not mention that I had been to another dentist prior. After the x-rays, I was told everything looked good but there was an old cavity that would eventually need fixed. I remember saying to him,"are you sure?" He was bewildered with my question and asked if I wanted to see the x-ray. Of course I said yes . I did and was relieved to know my teeth were just fine! Since that first visit I have received nothing but excellent care, professionalism and great customer service. I highly recommend Wolfgang Schaller . The office is very organized and immaculate. He is a skilled professional who above all is very honest and ethical. It doesn't get any better than that.
