CCRM NoVa has truly skilled doctors, but its operations team only adds to everything a woman loses in this already-trying process. It's the day after Thanksgiving, and I'm in a waiting room with 25 other women. Waiting. For hours. We each had an appointment time, which was meaningless. We lost this pseudo-holiday to drive here and wait. I'll also note, unlike any other fertility clinic I've been to, CCRM NoVa allows children in the waiting room, which to some is another marker of insensitivity. Expect competent doctors, but also expect this practice to make your already stressful experience more stressful and frustrating.

Dr. Owen was truly amazing in every way. She took the time to genuinely listen and understand what we needed. She has such a caring heart and always made me feel like I was her most important patient. She carefully analyzed every result and personally called with detailed explanations, which meant so much during such an emotional process. I always felt like I was in the very best hands. Under her care, we had two successful egg retrievals, and on our first transfer, we got pregnant. We are beyond grateful -- there really aren't enough words to express how thankful we are. That said, the billing department needs significant improvement. Communication was very difficult -- phone calls often went unanswered with no callbacks, and responses were typically limited to once per day. Payments were missed on their end, so I strongly recommend tracking everything carefully. Bills were also not sent promptly. Overall, while the administrative side was frustrating, Dr. Owen made all the difference in our journey, and for that we will always be thankful.

After dealing with infertility for over 7 years, I truly never thought I would be able to conceive. Dr. Fady Sharara changed my life for the better--he gave me hope when I felt like there was none, and I will forever be grateful for that. His expertise, compassion, and dedication made all the difference for me. I'm so thankful for the protocol he created that worked for my situation, and I genuinely hope he can continue to help others who are just like me find their own success and happiness. A huge thank you to his wonderful nurses, Jill and Jessica, who were always there with kindness, patience, and reassurance whenever I needed it most. They made such a difference in my experience. I also want to recognize Maggie and Trisha at the front desk. No matter what kind of day I was having, they always greeted me with warmth and a smile, making me feel welcome and cared for. This journey isn't always easy, but having a team like this behind you makes all the difference. I'm beyond grateful for everyone at VCRM for their support and dedication, and I'm so excited for this new chapter ahead.

After the consultation with him and interacting with the staff, my husband and I trusted him to help us on our fertility journey. Dr. Sharara is very knowledgeable and an expert in the field, which made me feel comfortable and confident in putting our trust in him. I appreciated that he did a very thorough and comprehensive diagnostic work up to figure out the best treatment plan. As someone who is also in the healthcare field, I very much appreciate having more data. The nurses (Ava and Jessica), billing coordinator (Trish), and other staff (Maggie) were also wonderful. Compared to the brief experience that I had with a large fertility clinic, VCRM felt like a white glove service. I graduated this week from the clinic at eight and a half weeks pregnant and am incredibly grateful to Dr. Sharara and the entire VCRM team for their guidance, care, and support. I know that I'm very lucky to have only had to do one round of IVF and for the first transfer to be successful. Dr. Sharara gave me agency to decide when to start IVF (I personally didn't want to spend much time doing IUI) and was supportive of all my decisions as long as they were medically sound. I highly recommend Dr. Sharara and the entire VCRM staff!

Dr. Gannon is worthless. We spent 10 months going to appointments and doing testing for nothing, absolutely nothing. NEVER got a straight answer on anything. They kept billing my insurance even though we told them from day one they would not cover anything. They are condescending and were upset with me that I was frustrated with them for not being able to answer any question. Also gave my husband a lecture for not knowing my birthday (really???? who the hell cares). Had an appointment with a doctor at another facility today. In my 30 minute appointment I got more answers and information than 10 months with Shady Grove. I would say Shady Grove only cares about money but since they wouldn't even do any treatment I think they only care about their success rates. They don't want to help low odds patients. So if you aren't 20 with no health issues go elsewhere. Fertility treatments we know are pricey and were prepared for that. We were not prepared for the emotional turmoil caused by Shady Grove. It is a stressful situation already go somewhere that cares. Stay away from Shady Grove.

Federal employees and military (active duty, reserve, and veterans) are no longer covered and Shady Grove has increased their prices. Their doctors are impersonal and unresponsive. I have been called other patients' names on multiple occasions, and my physician has misquoted my medical history. My doctor has also complained that she is spending too much time on me (during a 10 minute conversation after 5 failed cycles) because she's very busy. Their financial department blatantly violates HIPAA by refusing to release medical records (PHI) until they have received out-of-pocket pre-payment for a full IVF cycle. The care is not individualized, and the care teams make no effort to adjust the patients' course of care based on current data. In addition, my partner and I are federal employees and we were refused care and forced to discontinue an active IVF cycle because we are not getting paid during the government shut-down. Please go anywhere else. This practice is only about their bottom line. Their doctors have poor records of acheiving pregnancy because it benefits them more to keep receiving payment while you do not achieve your goals of having a family. They take advantage patients and routinely the financial department cancels cycles on Friday afternoons with weekend appointments scheduled. Dr. Udoff was so kind, respectful, and straight forward. I knew I was always in good hands. I will forever be grateful for each and every one of them for making my dream come true!

I am writing this review in the hopes of helping other women in my situation. The main reason…read morefertility centers like GIVF make profit is women do not speak up specially when it comes to fertility issues . I was a patient at GIVF who signed up for multiple cycles of IVF for thousands of dollars which was paid in full before starting any treatments. I did not get to finish a single cycle and the reason was not just a failed IVF ! It was because I became sick due to high dose of injections Dr.Sarhan put me on . I was a perfect candidate for IVF according to them my numbers were great and they kept pushing me towards IVF because I was getting close to 40 . When I signed up with them unfortunately I did not do enough research . When you want to choose a fertility center you have to choose 1.A clinic with high "fertility success rate " which is called assisted reproductive technology (ART) data and is a public knowledge on CDC website 2. A center with newest technology and equipments 3. And most importantly knowledgeable and experienced doctors . They have none of the above . I have to clarify I was only treated by Dr.Sarhan which is apparently their main doctor and I do not know the other doctors. Their staff is nice and friendly I loved my nurse Laurel and Sarah and Divon were always caring and helpful . I started IVF with Dr.Sarhan . She started me with an egg retrieval protocol that was not a correct protocol for my age and it is not a frequently used protocol for someone in late 30's (based on consultations I had with multiple specialists including a very well known fertility institute in NYC afterwards ) so they had to stop the protocol after using half of injections . Later we started all over again they changed the protocol but with even higher dose of injection . According to the doctors I did the consult with afterwards , my dose of injection was extremely high and if the dose is too high they will retrieve eggs but the quality will change but that wasn't the only issue . I started feeling sick during egg retrieval ( to the point I could not resume my daily activities and could not swallow which was weird as I had friends who had undergone IVF )and started losing weight like 20 pounds . Little did I know that I had developed a Thyroid condition triggered by insanely high dose of hormones . Today after 2 years and being treated by 5 different endocrinologists and seeing the best endocrinologist in the country , I have not recovered yet . My endocrinologist believes that I have developed a rare case of autoimmune thyroid disease induced by very high dose of hormones . As a consequence of Dr.Sarhan's poor and careless treatment planning my life changed and I lost the chance of becoming a mother forever ! Also I have been dealing with serious health issues including heart condition and currently they are monitoring me for thyroid eye disease . Recently I asked them to send me a detailed receipt as I never finished treatments .When they changed each morning monitoring visit copay during egg retrieval to $948 per visit and according to their manager they had to change the fees to full office fees Because I had to stop treatments and contract was ceased ?! I decided to share my story . Basically they make more profit because I could not continue treatments due to my medical condition caused by them .This is who they are ! They only want to make profit and they do not care if their aggressive treatment protocols has messed up with someone's life . A lot of people get pregnant after 40 and I keep thinking what if I never got intimidated by Dr.Sarhan aggressive sales strategies . At least I would be healthy today or what if I selected the right fertility clinic and an experienced doctor . I will continue sharing my story to make sure that no one experiences what I went through . I absolutely do not recommend GIVF due to their aggressive financial strategies , poor practice management , their outdated technology and Dr.Sarhan specifically as a provider . Their annual success rate can be checked on CDC website at https://nccd.cdc.gov/drh_art/rdPage.aspx?rdReport=DRH_ART.ClinicInfo&ClinicId=461&ShowNational=0&islCycleTypes=T002

Nurse Lan is Dr. Asmar's right hand and is extremely knowledgeable in the fertility field. My husband and I trusted these two over the past several years of our ups and downs of our fertility journey. Their compassion and determination to help us expand our family proved to be worth every penny now that we are blessed with TWO amazing children. We have formed great friendships with the lovely ladies who work the front desks. Their job is just as strenuous: making appointments, helping patients understand the billing process, listening to frustrated patients (those fertility meds can make you a tad moody) watching heartache and joy come and go... I rate this fertility center a 5 but if I could give them a higher rating I would. Everyone from the front desk, Carol and Angie, lab nurse Lysette, nurse Jamie, nurse Lan, Dr. Asmar, the anesthesiologists, the embryologists....EVERYONE is amazing. We have two (2013 and 2016) healthy and beautiful children and we could not have made this possible without this wonderful team.

Nurse Marcela, Olivia, and Dr. Asmar provided excellent medical care and were always warm and kind with their bedside manner. The front office staff started to know who we were by only a few months in, which added to the warmth. And while we didn't require language translation services, we saw many patients use those services with seemingly positive interactions. We appreciated their transparent pricing and efficient approach with cycle monitoring especially as our fertility journey was not cheap. Being a queer couple going through this process, they never batted an eye making us both feel welcome throughout the process. They answered all the questions we had and we could tell they were comfortable with providing fertility services to many queer families before us. I especially appreciated the post-positive result monitoring up until week 10 to set me on the right course for prenatal care. And they gave us our future child's first stuffed bear upon graduation, to boot! I would not hesitate to recommend them to friends and to return to them for any future fertility needs.
