I found this store online when looking for outdoor patio furniture. I was surprised when I entered the small shop because I didn't see the patio chairs and loungers I was expecting. However, I noticed lots of dining tables and fire tables and started looking more closely at the table tops that were present. They were beautiful . . . works of art custom-made with all types of tile. While there, I decided to have a bench made since it was reasonably priced. Patty was wonderful and took lots of time to discuss options and look at different types of tile. I felt completely comfortable when I left, believing that my vision would be implemented just as I expected. I'm an Orange County resident, but ran across this company at a street a large street fair in Tucson, AZ. Here were all this well crafted and beautifully designed tables that I thought would look great in our newly landscaped yard. I contacted the representative (Patty) at the fair and after a brief and friendly conversation found out that their office and showroom was just a fifteen minute drive from home in OC. A few months later we stopped into the local showroom in Capistrano. We spoke to Moss who assisted us in making slight modifications on colors to an already existing design. We were told that due to demand it would take about 12-14 weeks to delive. Well, right at 13 weeks we were contacted and the table was delivered and turned out absolutely beautifully. Zach was the delivery driver. He was on time for his appointment, polite and did a top notch installation job with care. My patio furniture lasted longer than my marriage! : ). I was one of the first customers for Surrounding Elements in Irvine buying the chairs, umbrella, fire-pit barbecue, and chaise lounge chairs in 2001. I loved the furniture so much that my extended family bought similar items for their homes. After four moves I had lost a couple of the feet on the bottom of the chairs and attempted to replace them using feet purchased from eBay. To no avail, none of them worked. This review is less of the "I just had it delivered and I love it!" and more of a "The quality and craftsmanship is unbeatable, I've had this for over a decade and it's still in great shape!I " type of review. I bought it in April and it was delivered in May of 2005. The setup has been outside, uncovered, exposed to beach-close (1/4 mile) salt-air and elements for 12 years! I cannot say enough about the quality of their fire pit tables. I bought one that measured 4X5, with a custom tile design, with 6 high-quality (Telescope brand ) chairs, and a matching side table with auto-tilt Sunbrella-fabric umbrella. The chairs are due for some powder coat restoration, but the slings are in good, solid shape. Since the chairs are made by someone else and not Surrounding Elements, this is not on them. The table's granite and tile is still in brand-new shape! It would probably look even better had I sealed it every 6 months like they advise, but I haven't sealed it in a decade. It still looks fantastic! I envy the newer "leg-warmer" openings built into today's tables, and the church-key on/off switch. I also wish mine had the newer diamond-fire glass instead of the ceramic faux-wood logs. Because the quality is so good, I am still many, many years away from replacing it with the newer designs. I'm probably not even half way through the life of my current table. The table's metal is in great shape and barely shows any age. The tile has never cracked, and the grout is still solid and not at all chipping or flaking off. In fact, the only thing I've had to do to it in 12 years is replace the hose for the propane tank, and I did that very recently. That cost me $25. If you want cheap you can go to Costco and get a setup for less that will need replacing in just a few short years. If you want quality, and goods that will last decades (literally), then I highly recommend Surrounding Elements. I can't say enough about this company. The product is gorgeous and the responsiveness of their employees are great. It might take a month or 2 to get the product but it is well worth the wait. After we got our fire pit we noticed a little puffing sound and Moss immediately did all he could to trouble shoot the issue and even face timed with us to solve the problem after a few days of trying a new burner and changing the tanks we all discovered the issue was simply the placement of glass beads. If I could give 10 stars I would. We love, love, LOVE the piece of art that is our new firepit table! We had our table delivered yesterday. First, the ordering experience: Patty and Moss were great; we had a short window for delivery and they were nothing but accomodating. Oh, I know that some businesses will take your order and make promises about being able to make your delivery on time and then make excuse when that date comes and goes without delivery, but Moss, Patty, and the entire crew worked to exceed our expectations by delivering almost a week early. From start to finish it took only a week and a few days. And we live in Vegas, a 4-5 hour drive for them. The construction phase: We had them put a different center piece in place; a big sun. Patty and Moss, with their expertise guided us for the tiles to use. It is fantastic! This table is intricate, unique and absolutely a beautiful piece of art with each piece of stone and tile used, hand crafted/cut to create a wonderful, beautiful artwork. Patty and Moss, you need to call your products what they are; ART. Delivery: so, it took from start to finish and delivery, even with a couple of slight changes/adjustments, about a week. For such a labor intensive piece I would have expected longer but they delivered! Anthony was wonderful and set up the table and went through the instructions patiently. We had wanted a fire pit on our deck, but didn't have room for that as well as a large dining table. Surrounding Elements had just the answer for us. We saw them at a street fair in Los Altos and were immediately impressed. Their features are unique, the quality first rate, and the table designs are truly works of art. There is a fire pit right in the center of the table. When not in use, an aluminum bowl fits over the pit and acts as an ice bucket for drinks. A lazy-susan then rests above making full use of the space. They even have access for an umbrella if you chose to add one. You just won't see anything like this elsewhere. They have several standard designs, but will also do custom work. We saw a mountain themed design on their website and had Moss build a table similar to that for our cabin. It totally captures the surrounding environment. The quality of the service also matches that of the product. Moss is very accessible should you have any questions. We received our new table just before Christmas and can't articulate how happy we are. The table is truly a work of art and looks beautiful on our patio. We chose a 5' x 7' oval and can easily fit 8 patio chairs around it with room for at least 2 or 4 more smaller chairs. We are able to sit on the patio during chilly nights and enjoy the extra ambiance of the fire. Our experience in ordering and receiving delivery was exceptional. We shopped extensively for a custom island and got half a dozen estimates. Surrounding Elements was on the high end, but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for"! Although they specialize in custom tables (which are incredible), they do phenomenal islands. Moss is an artist, and had great ideas for matching colors and textures to our backyard. He came over to the house and spent a good hour with us discussing options. We were updated frequently of the progress (with pictures). The project was completed on time, delivered and installed professionally by his long time crew, most of which have been with him for several years. I will say the workmanship and detail is better than anticipated. The island is EXTREMELY sturdy and we know it will hold up over time. Moss even gave us extra stucco so we could finish a backyard wall in the matching color. In short, Moss and SE are true professionals with integrity. Thats important to us. read more

It has been on the deck for a few weeks now and it is absolutely wonderful. We purchased our table in 2005 and it still looks brand new. We never cover it or have tried to protect it from the element. With everything in our home over the last 18 years having to be replaced or repaired it's comforting the table and accessories have not had to be touched. It is beautiful and built to last. After extensive research on all things fire-table related, I chose to work with surrounding elements. From the first call, Moss was very helpful and knowledgable. He was also very patient. I had tons of questions and he never made me feel like a "bother". He even offered his cell phone so he could be reached with any additional questions. This company has got to be the best on the planet with regards to product quality and customer service. We bought a patio table and chair set from them several years ago when we visited the home show in Santa Clara, CA. We had a small problem with the top and the owner sent out a completely new top within days. His drivers made a special trip to San Jose (where we live) from southern CA. just to bring us the new top. Over a year later, this top developed a few small cracks in the granite from what I can only surmise would be "settling" as my patio is not 100% level. I called the company and within a week someone came and spent at least half a day chipping out the bad tiles and replacing them on site. He basically rebuilt part of the table top. It's been many years now and not one problem since. We've been so happy with the experience, we recently bought another table set from them after seeing the display at the "October Fest" street fair in Campbell, CA.
