I was drawn to the diversity of exercises in their signature SPENGA class (spinning, strength, and…read moreyoga), so I went to try it out. The people at check in and my instructor Liliana were all very friendly, and the energy in the class was amazing and motivating. You can do the spinning and strength exercises at your own pace without judgement, and Liliana provided several modifications for exercises too. The only minor things I would point out would be that when the instructor would say "5 seconds left" or "10 seconds" it didn't actually mean 5 or 10 seconds and was usually longer than that, sometimes based on the beats in the song, and when you are pushing yourself and getting tired, it can be misleading because you think you're done but you're not. But it could be perceived as a good challenge depending how you think of it. I was also disappointed that my name didn't appear on the screen like everyone else's did, so I couldn't see if I was meeting my fitness goals. I thought it was interesting that the people in the class as well as the instructors were all white women (except for one man who was also trying out the class for the first time), and people tended to stay within their groups. Overall though it was a nice workout with a variety of exercises, so you won't be bored. The music was great, and being around other people working hard will keep you motivated.

I recently received an insurance plan that covers gym memberships. I was excited to learn that Get…read moreFitness in Largo at 13845 Walsingham Rd, Largo, FL accepts my insurance, especially since the gym is conveniently located near my home. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted by Abby, who gave me a tour of the facility and made me feel comfortable. After showing my proof of insurance, she asked for my credit card. I asked why it was needed, and she explained that it was standard practice to keep one on file, but she wasn't sure of the specific reasons and offered to check with the owner. The owner then came out, without introducing himself, and spoke to me in an irate manner. He explained that if I were to let someone into the gym after hours, they would need my credit card to charge me directly, since they couldn't bill my insurance company. This, he said, was stated in their contract. I asked to read the contract, but instead of providing it, he told me, "It's not going to work out," and asked me to leave. I've never experienced such hostility in any interaction before.

The manager had misrepresented the price two days earlier, but the two other employees had just done so and yet, as if turning on a dime, were all of sudden insisting that the day pass is $15. Well, they didn't get the $15 plus tax, and the business did not get the revenue from an ongoing membership. Pettiness and a habit of lying may be expedient, but the toxic mentality will one day result in customers going to competitors because no one enjoys being that disrespected as to be blatantly lied to. Such a business should go out of business. I would not trust that business with credit-card information.

Joining F45 was the best thing I've ever done. Believe me, I was scared to death and asked Justin,…read morethe membership manager, a million questions and even went to see the gym before I joined. I went in with the mentality that I would just go ask questions and maybe join later on. He made me confident that even though I was incredibly out of shape that I could do the workouts. I walked out a foundation member and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I started off a few weeks ago, scared that I wouldn't make it through the workout. I did Hollywood which is the Saturday workout first. It is a 60 minute intense workout. Yes, I was sore, but I was so proud of myself making it through the workout that I didn't care. As I kept going, the pain or soreness that I experienced from working out has subsided and I can feel myself getting stronger. I used to just go to the gym and do a quick workout and leave. I tried to follow workout plans and would just get bored or give up. With the help of the trainers, I'm going things I would have never expected that I could do. The gym is small, it's meant for a class at a time and is set up depending on the workout. You'd be surprised how much can be packed into the gym in a class. Each workout is different and geared towards a theme. I suggest just going to a class before you judge it based on the name of it. A great example of this would be Foxtrot. It is military based and that worried me that I couldn't complete it. In fact, originally that was the only class I didn't book. As I said, I was out of shape and didn't think I would make it through but I did. There are modifications for various exercises and levels of training. You also can use a Lionheart heart rate monitor that connects to the screens in the back of the classes and tells you the percentage of your maximum heart rate you are using. You get a report at the end of the class that shows your points during the class that you achieved based on your heart rate and calories burned. It also shows a trend line for your workout. This is so helpful and makes me push a little harder when I know I have dropped my heart rate some. The staff is great. Nathan and his wife are super sweet and really seem to care about you as an individual. Justin is encouraging and always there to give you a high five. Chase and Kaitlyn have helped me to bring my fitness level to a level that I now feel more confident doing the exercises. I wouldn't push myself without them. Hannah is also very nice. I haven't been to her class yet but she was present in one of the Hollywood sessions I attended and was helpful. The members are encouraging and it already feels like family. My suggestion, give it a shot. You might just surprise yourself like I did!

Theres a true team atmosphere and the trainers and coaches are very positive and uplifting. Everyone working out is competing against themselves and can see how they're doing with a heart rate monitor if you choose. The trainers are able to modify any exercises if you have injuries and will show alternatives. You get paired in groups at stations which is nice because you get to motivate each other. No workouts are the same! I'm excited to do more workouts!
