I signed up for this location with a revamped membership after checking the locations webpage and…read moresocial media under the guise of the membership including a women's only room (babe cave) and complimentary Pilates classes as that is what is shown on the webpage before and during signup. I went to this location twice for one leg day and one back and biceps day. This location is very small and very limited on equipment and space as a result. The first thing that came up is there is no area for stretching. There's some space under some monkey bars and you can use the classroom IF there's not a class but if the gym is busy then there wouldn't be any space. Immediately realized there is no Babe Cave or any room for Pilates or yoga or any of the other "zones" shown on the sites or available at other locations in other states. You're paying for the highest tier to receive the same equipment that you would if paying for the lowest tier. This is the case for all locations in st Pete (except Tyrone which has a utility closet sized room for the babe cave). The assisted pull up machine is missing a rubber handle. Pullover machine doesn't have a belt. Smith machine has no safety stops (pic included) which is a huge safety hazard in my opinion. There's only one of each machine and there's several worn out or torn pads on them. This location has 2 deadlift platforms and 3 stairmasters, for comparison Planet Fitness now has 2 or more deadlift platforms and an entire row of stairmasters for $10 a month. It honestly feels like somebody collected machines off of Facebook marketplace and decided to charge $30 for it with a misleading webpage. It looks nothing like any of the locations in Texas or California that you see online so please don't make the mistake of thinking you're getting the same thing those on the west coast are! I'm honestly surprised Amped allows this gym to continue with their name because after this experience I'm entirely put off and unwilling to try again and I will be sure to spread the word. There's also the fact you have to download TWO apps on your phone and keep them in order to be able to enter the gym. I went to cancel after about 2 weeks and was told that in order to cancel I had to pay the annual fee of $50 even though I had only been a member for 2 weeks and was canceling so clearly I wouldn't be there for a year. In comparison, Planet Fitness charges an annual fee 2 months after your sign up HOWEVER if you cancel before the billing cycle of that 2nd month you aren't charged the annual fee. Overall the advertising and billing of this chain is just very misleading and predatory and even if you just take it at face value, it's not worth the price or even the title of "gym".

Usually, I would just get a national plan from 24hour fitness but there are no 24hour fitness locations in the area. So I went with a friend of mine as a guest. I think the machines are well maintained, most of them work just fine, have clear signs if they are being worked on, and even in busy times, I had no problem getting on a machine to work out. My 3/5 stars has nothing to do with that. What happened was that I was standing behind someone waiting to sign in a guest. as a business analyst I know that this is a great opportunity to upsell the membership and that is just good business, but the way the Esporta Fitness employee went about it was off-putting. I was standing behind someone else and the employee said, "want to become a member? The customer said, " I don't do that". As a respecter of upselling there is a right way and wrong way to go about the next statement. The employee did the wrong thing. He said, "you have something against fitness?" Nope, wrong question. What you're supposed to say is, "we have great trial periods and make it really easy to cancel anytime, our monthly fees are low and if you come more than X number of days that more than pays for the membership, yadayadayada". I was standing in fear that I was going to be inundated with a similar upsale tactic and that I was going to lose my s*&t. So he didn't say that to me, what he said was, "can you believe that guy? All I'm trying to do is tell him about our membership and he gives me attitude!" Nope, wrong statement. If this reflects Esporta Fitness I will be looking for alternatives to my short terms fitness solutions. If this is a one-off, consider this my complaint about the employee to the establishment. There's plenty of parking in the front and the back and at night they have a cleaner who comes and refreshes the bathroom and mops the floor. Even still, the gym is pretty filthy though if you look at different areas, you can see where dust has collected, dirt, and sweat. I really wish they had more regular cleaning and actual wipes instead of paper towel towels with a cleaning solution on it to wipe the machines when finished. The space is small so they have to do what they can with the space but the equipment is placed relatively close. I also wish it were permitted for members to use the personal training area when sessions are not ongoing because that equipment appears to largely be unused. Planet Fitness unlike other gyms also does not have a sauna, but they do have tanning and Hydro massage chairs. The goodie bags that they sell are extremely outdated so I would like to see them improve that as well, but I will not be purchasing it regardless. Now that I have stopped personal training at my other gym, I may end up canceling both planet fitness and the other gym and just joining a gym with all of my favorite amenities plus being open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For all these reasons, I would rank this planet fitness three out of five stars. The thing that would bring planet fitness to a higher ranking cleanliness, other offers or amenities and maybe a reorganization of the equipment.
