I heard about this company through a Facebook post & so far it's been one of the best Facebook finds I've ever had. Nelson was our captain & Neal (sp?) was our deck hand. They were both great, very caring & personable. They took two boats out at the same time & created a wave for the dolphins to play in. Very affordable compared to other cruises and they made sure we saw some dolphins. Book with them, you won't regret it!!!!

This isn't a review I planned to make but what we experienced with Surf's Up was unprofessional and potentially a blatant lie based on the information we have. We read a number of reviews regarding the Dolphin Cruise options in Orange Beach and selected Surf's Up based on those and customer feedback in general. At nearly 1/2 the cost of competitors we booked 36 hours early to secure our spots. We began traveling toward the cruise at 4 pm (an hour away) which took off at 5:30 as we were asked to get there 15 minutes early to ensure an on time departure. At 4:22 we received a phone call alerting us to "engine trouble" and unfortunately they would have to cancel. Despite the last minute call we appreciated and respected their decision and quickly booked an alternative for double the price as it was our last night in the area and we were dead set on seeing dolphins. This should be the end of the story but as we were out on our new cruise which departed at 6 pm we happened to pass the boat below with the Surf's Up phone number plastered across the side! What the heck? Did they flat out lie to us and overbook and come up with a sob story to get us to feel bad? Something doesn't sit right and there's no explanation for it.

We went out for the 10:00am tour. It was right after some stormy weather. Went out into the bay and the dolphins were ready and excited to play! This was well worth the price. They also have a friendly weather cancellation policy.

We had an awesome time on our sunset dolphin cruise! Even though it was an overcast day, the view of the dolphins was spectacular! The crew members really were knowledgeable and super friendly! All of the kids get preference for the views and there was plenty of space for the amount of people on board. Everyone was laughing and having a good time. Definitely a great value for the price! I'll be booking with them again. I was visiting a friend who just moved to the area. She will be bringing other out-of-towners now that we've had such a lovely experience!

What a wonderful experience! They do not narrate anything but that's okay. The boats had plenty of room for everyone to get different views...standing up top or kneeling on the side or even getting a little bit of shade. The dolphins put on quite a show when the boats ran side by side (even a baby dolphin made an appearance!) - they did this 3 separate times for several minutes! Best $12 spent during the trip!!

We took the sunset dolphin cruise on a week night. For $15/per adult, it was a very reasonable price and we saw dolphins multiple times and with in 10 minutes of pulling out of the harbor. The staff is super nice. They do work for tips, but take Venmo or PayPal as well as cash. There is no pressure to tip, but they work hard to give each group a great trip. They sell cold drinks for a $1 or you can bring a cooler with no fee. Other outfits charge for that. They also checked on us and offered to take pictures. I would suggest dressing in casual clothes, comfy shoes and sunscreen. There isn't much shade and you get to stand up along the rail. If you are in a dress, like some people were, your going to be holding it down for 2 hours.

Took a dolphin cruise for my husband and I's anniversary and it was breathtaking. The ride itself on the boat is very uncomfortable. When we signed up it said the excursion was 2 hours but it was only 1 hour but after about 45 minutes I was ready to be back at the marina anyways because of how uncomfortable I was. The experience is unlike any other. They allow you to bring on a cooler which is nice or they have drinks to buy for $1. I have swam with dolphins before so I didn't know how this would add up but it was such a different experience it was well worth the money and so much fun.

Having never been on a dolphin cruise I wasn't sure what to expect but was thrilled by my experience here. I called ahead of time to check on prices and get information. They took down my name and when I was running late to arrive they called me to check if they should wait on my party even though we hadn't prepaid or anything. I found it very considerate and reassuring. While on the hour and a half cruise I saw approximately 16 dolphins! The crew coordinated with a nearby boat to ride beside us in order to make waves between the boats where the dolphins could jump and do tricks. It was a spectacular sight. At $12 per person I found it to be an incredible value.

Yes Yes Yes!! This was like an excursion on a cruise. We went out with this fun team! They kept us laughing while we looked for dolphins. They guaranteed that we would see them and indeed we did. They found a small pod with a baby dolphin. We got the scoop on identifying the babies and some National Geographic level knowledge on this tour. I would highly recommend it. It adds a whole different level of vacation to your vacation. It was definitely one of the more memorable parts of our stay. It's a vacation while on vacation!! read more

We read a number of reviews regarding the Dolphin Cruise options in Orange Beach and selected Surf's Up based on those and customer feedback in general. We went out for the 10:00am tour. It was right after some stormy weather. Went out into the bay and the dolphins were ready and excited to play! This was well worth the price. They also have a friendly weather cancellation policy. read more

Don't let the "cheap" price fool you -- this is a lovely ride with GREAT dolphin sightings! Bring a cooler with cold drinks, hats & sunscreen. There's not a lot of shade. We took the sunset cruise & the breeze & temperature got nicer as the evening went on. Highly recommend! read more

We bought tickets for the sunset dolphin cruise on our last night in Perdido Key / Orange Beach. It was an amazing time and beautiful sunset. They really know how to get the dolphins to come out and play for you. This was so worth the money and a great experience. If you have the opportunity you really need to check this out. We had a softball team of 9-11 year Olds and all of their families. We reserved one whole boat ahead of time and were able to get everyone aboard. Everyone felt safe and absolutely relaxed while we left the dock and were excited to see dolphins. With the two boats and their captain communicating - were able to see some amazing dolphins! Nelson and his staff very much care about their clients ability to see dolphins. The girls and their families had so much fun - if we go back to Gulf Shores again next year - we definitely will use Surf's Up again. read more

Amazing experience seeing the dolphins today. They go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your dolphin Cruise. I was able to capture a video of the dolphins surfing in the waves to share with friends and family. Our family will be returning when we're back next year. read more

It was raining, so we weren't sure if we should reschedule. The captain encouraged us to go, and we were so glad we did! This cruise uses two boats side by side so the the dolphins are drawn to jump the wake in between. We had a great show & saw several dolphins leap out of the water! read more

It was so amazing! You can't beat that price! Everyone should go do that! My boyfriend thought he wouldn't really like it and he was so excited and he loved it. The two boats run side by side and make a huge wave and the dolphins love it! They jump out of the center! Everyone should go. They even let you stand on the sides! Awesome, and reasonably priced at $12 per person! We did tip at the end of the cruise. There is water available to purchase for $1 or you can bring you own cooler/drinks. It takes about 2 hours, but we saw several pods of dolphins. Loved it and will recommend to others. read more

Nothing fancy about this cruise but it does come with an amazing crew. And they totally delivered on the dolphins! I walked away with some amazing videos and pictures. You can't beat the price and they offer bottled water on the boat for a buck. Definitely check this one out when you visit. It will be totally worth your $12!! I read more

We went on a dolphin cruise with a big group of other people. It was fabulous! Our boat captain and the girl who assisted him, were fun and helpful. The music they played was perfect and the experience was just awesome. We saw lots of beautiful dolphins and really had a great time. We will return. read more

Had a great time today on the dolphin boat trip. We were lined up with another place but they cancelled our trip due to a boat issue. We went with this place and saved$8 a person. And I am pretty sure was the same experience. Deck hand taught us about dolphins and have us info on the house and boats we were passing. Saw lots of dolphins jumping out off the water some as close as 10 get from us. Lots of good pics and went live in Facebook and people loved it. They have snacks and drinks on board but you need to bring your own beer if that's what you want. Would go again. read more

They are top notch! Enjoyed the tour. A customer had a medical issue they tour ended early. They offered is refund or reschedule for the next day. We took our refund but tipped the deck hands on the boat! Well worth it! read more

My family came out tonight for the dolphin cruise. However, when on the dock to board the boat we were not comfortable with how packed the boat was. People were shoulder to shoulder with no masks. We had my parents and young kids with us. When we told the dock hand we weren't comfortable he was very understanding. We then went to talk with the person at the check in desk. When we explained that we weren't comfortable with the max capacity the guy laughed and said "Ok but I'm not refunding you." This was the first thing said with no consideration. I would not recommend doing business with someone so condescending and hateful. read more

A couple dolphins decided to cruise alongside us for quite a bit of time. The marine sea creatures were so much fun. Loved being able to touch and learn about these beautiful creatures. There were not enough passengers to fill two boats, so we didn't do a water fight. Instead, the kids got to shoot the water off of the boat and still had a blast. This dolphin cruise was so much fun. The dolphins were playing in the waves right by our boat for several minutes.

Everything was safe and secure and the bathroom was the icing on the cake (especially for this momma!). We loved the island vibe music but Glenn was open to other music if you wanted to change it up. With a roof overhead and railings along the side, everyone has an unobstructed view (other than sometimes people on the other side). And we could move around if we wanted. The bench seats were comfortable, and the ride was very smooth and stable. The tour experience was highlighted by the guide's running commentary, complete with funny jokes and good natured humor. We saw a good number of dolphins and learned some interesting facts about them. We highly recommend this dolphin cruise and will definitely choose them again the next time we want to do this fun activity.

We took the sunset dolphin cruise and our family of five LOVED it! The staff were organized, friendly and professional. We boarded the boat on time and were pleasantly surprised that the boat wasn't very full despite it being spring break time. Maybe 20 people on the boat so plenty of room to spread out and everyone had a seat. Once out in open water, the captain told all the kids to kneel at the back of the boat. Two boats run next to each other, causing a big wake at the back, and the dolphins start jumping. The boats did their run several times, each time resulting in cute dolphins jumping and playing in our wake. It was a gorgeous sunset and a lot of fun. Take a jacket because it gets chilly when the boat gets going. The value for the money was outstanding and we highly recommend Surf's Up! read more

This dolphin cruise is amazing! The people that run it are so nice and helpful. We got in a big boat that wasn't too crowded and began a wonderful cruise into the ocean. The breeze was so cooling and relaxing and the water was just beautiful. Then, the search for dolphins began! We joined up with another boat to create a wake for the dolphins, and we saw so many! They were jumping out of the water and playing, it was so cute! I highly recommend this dolphins cruise. It is such a nice boat ride and the dolphins are out and ready to play! It was such a unique experience I think no other dolphins cruise can replicate. If you are going to choose just one, this would be it! It is also wayyyy worth it for the price that you pay. Easily the best part of our trip to Gulf Shores, I was a little skeptical of spending two hours on a boat looking for dolphins but I was pleasantly suprised! Price was very reasonable and in fact, I would have gladly paid a little more considering how good the experience was. The captain and deck mate were very friendly and knowledgeable. We saw plenty of dolphins, even watching them show off when they had two boats travel side by side to create a wake. Would definitely recommend to anyone and I hope to get the chance to go again when I return to Gulf Shores. read more

Great adventure at a great price. We paid $12 a person and brought our own small cooler of drinks. Spent a little over two hours and the crew made sure we saw multiple Dolphins. Two separate sets of dolphins rode the waves between our two boats. We took our family kids ages 13 & 5. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to take a boat ride out on the ocean, see some beautiful houses on the way and see the magnificent dolphins. Call ahead to reserve a time. read more
