AN ABSOLUTELY MUST DO! One of the Best All Free Annual Events in SOCAL. Take me Home Country…read moreRoads. The Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival happens once a year in the City of Santa Clarita not far from 6 Flags Magic Mountain. This is Annual Free Festival, Free Parking & Free Rides for the Kids. SAY WHAAAAAT! ALL FREE! YUP! People are always saying they'd love to do more things but it's just too expensive especially with a family. Well not here. This is a 2 Day Annual Event. It was a packed House On Sunday with lots of people getting dressed up & wearing western attire & Cowboy Hats & Boots. There are Lots of interesting Fun things to do here. We were lucky & scored a Free Parking space on the street a few blocks away. They have a Parking Lot & Free Shuttle Busses. It's hard to believe this place is less than an hour away from LA & you really do feel like you may have stumbled into Blake Shelton's Home Town. LOL! They had numerous bands in many different locations playing Live Country Music. There were covered wagons which were converted to Make shift Merchandise Booths where people could shop for some unusual items. They had 3 Teepees set up & you could go inside & look around. They had campfires, Old Western Settings & even some Panning for Gold & Lasso Masters doing Rope Tricks. There was Axe throwing, a Bounce House, Driving Automobiles for Kids & the ever popular Riding the Bull. You could also see the Free Museum & head on back & step inside a real locomotive & ring the bell. The Chili was in a Small Tent but was a Big Hit. 5 Small Samples for $10 with some really Great Chili & you got to vote for your favorite. There was a lot of Food Choices here. The Rotary Club provided a Great Deal on some Food Items. The Pulled Pork Sandwich & side of Cole Slaw was only $7. The Peach Cobbler with Ice Cream was also a Big Hit. Water was only a $1 a bottle. They were also selling Cannoli & Italian Ice & Sorbetti a Fruit Swirled Italian Ice Sorbet in its original Fruit Skin. Some of the original 1900s homes were open to see how people lived back in the day. There was even a tiny Church & a 1890s School House. They were selling T Shirts & Baseball Caps of The Cowboy Festival for $18. They had a Bargain Table with past years merchandise for only $3. There were umbrellas & tables & chairs you could sit down & eat. Some people selected to get close to Nature & sit on the grass, a log or on a haystack. This was So Much Fun! If you missed it mark it on your calendar for next year. There are busses to take you back to the parking lot. I recommend skipping the bus & waiting in the long lines & walk back on Main Street & see the town. You will see a cool little village that combines old fashioned Mayberry with today's contemporary cafes, eateries & shopping. Very cool what they have done here Small Old Town Feel with today's modern independent stores. You've heard of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They have a Western Walk of Fame with old cowboys & western Stars with their names on the sidewalks. A FUN DAY & SO EASY ON THE POCKETBOOK! It used to be, you had to have mega bucks & be really rich to have the Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like a King on a Limited Budget!

Looked but could not find any food truck selling hot dogs . Kids don't uusually like the spiic/adult foods. finally ordered a Taco Cone and found out it was 12 dollars for what was the size of one slice of a pizza AND they charged us $5.00 for a bottle of water that I can buy a full case of 24 bottles for $5.00. This seems like gourging. Most of the food places did NOT have prices posted at all. We have always gone to this event but will think about NOT going ....next year.....

The actual rodeo itself was very good, no complaints. But there were a couple of issues (in my…read moremind) that bugged me. #1, would be the announcers. You don't have to fill every second of the day, with your voice. And every now and then, take your hand off the volume knob. It was either all the way up, or turned way down low, I guess trying to encourage people to sing. The problem is, that the amplification is as high as it will go, right to the edge of distortion. But to continually turn it up and down is very irritating. And unnecessary, how about getting a couple employees to walk around the stands to see how the sound is, instead of all the way up. And #2. It took us an hour and a half to reach the gate going out. We didn't move at all for 45 minutes. Sunday's attendance was pegged at 3000 people. We've been to events at Laguna Seca, with 88,000 people, Sears Point with 60,000, Pomona with 50,000 and Road Atlanta with 50,000, and the traffic control at Santa Maria was just horrible. For only 3000 people. #3 The price of food and refreshments was out of hand too. Otherwise, a good show.

If you've never tried it, come on over and do so. This year, 2017, it will be June 1-4! As always, there a real rodeo, a parade, and even mutton bustin' (kids riding sheep!).

This years Fiesta events begin on August 5th - 9th, 2015…read more As a Santa Barbarian born and raised here, this by far has to be my favorite event of all time in my hometown! Ever since I was a little girl my family has participated in the parade, and I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to be in the children's parade a few times myself. Ever since then it's been my tradition to partake in the festivities. Although I haven't been in the parade since I was a kid I enjoy going to it every year. This long week event is somewhat comparable to mardi gras in New Orleans. You can expect to find State Street packed with tourists, the bars filled, and the streets covered in confetti. The opening ceremony known as La Fiesta Pequeña "Little Fiesta" kicks off Fiesta week on the steps of our beautiful Mission. I suggest you try to claim a spot the night before or get there a few hours ahead of time to find one. Take a lounge chair, blankets, food, and beverage. They do have a small area with food vendors so take cash if you don't want to hassle with bringing your own stuff. I also suggest taking cash if you want to buy cascarones "confetti filled eggs" to get your crack on. If you don't know what a cascarone is then you haven't lived! You can find them anywhere on the streets being sold. They are beautifully hand crafted and decorated it makes you want to save them instead of cracking them on someone's head. El Mercado De La Guerra - Located in the heart of the city you will find tons of food booths, and vendors selling a variety of festive art, jewelry, clothing and accessories. There's also a stage provided with free entertainment. You will see flamenco and folklorico performances and awesome bands playing pop, rock, latin, jazz, and salsa music. El Mercado Del Norte: This Mercado is somewhat a duplicate of the one downtown but the only difference is there is a carnival here with rides and games for the kids. Each Mercado opens daily during Fiesta's at 11:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. El Desfile Historico Parade - This parade takes place on Friday afternoon. It is one of the nation's largest equestrian parades. You will see floats, mariachi's, flamenco dancers, and more. There is also a children's parade on Saturday which starts at 10:00 a.m. The list of fun events around town go on and on but In a nutshell if you haven't experienced Fiesta's then I suggest you put it on your traveling list! I recommend you reserve a room a few months ahead of time since they will all be booked if you wait or the prices will be insanely high.

I walked around the Mercado and browsed all the interesting Spanish gifts and trinkets. I bought a chicken tamale for $4 and it was delish! It was filled with lots of chicken and the sauce was nice and spicy! I was really satisfied after =] http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/wyXout3yStwg-knF6Bnelw?select=Tf2N7NGoSGJlqsOWeaQ14w The Fiesta also has a parade, but I did not watch it. My favourite part about the Fiesta was the confetti filled eggs! They were $1/4, but priceless on the amount of fun you have smashing them on your friends' heads! Fun fun fun!

I went with a good friend and he even stated that this was perhaps even better than the LA Beer Festival. Some great things: -Over 80 vendors of beer, kombucha, cider and even wine -Large space -Minimal waiting times ( I hope this isn't jinxing it, please don't get too popular) -Food trucks serving some good eats -Bathrooms -Five hour event -Entertainment and activities -Easy parking (paid lot or street if you can find it). We received a souvenir glass which we used for sampling all the various drinks (shoutout to Booze League for the koozie) so that was neat. To hold us over, we checked out one of the food trucks, Shrimp vs. Chef. We enjoyed their baja shrimp tacos and baja fish tacos, which had a great crunch and light coating. They were fresh tasting and they hit the spot. Unfortunately, we had to leave early so we didn't even try a 1/4 of all the vendors, but I can tell you they came from near and far. A couple vendors that we tried and liked: Boochcraft, Pocock Brewing, Red Tandem Brewery, Twisted Oak Tavern, Barrelhouse 101, and Fourteen Cannons. Looking forward to the next one!

We rode our bicycles and there was bicycle parking available. Getting in was easy. The line moved quite fast. You received a small beer glass upon entry. And oh my, the beers were flowing and so many. Everyone was very nice serving the beers. And I, being a big Kombucha fan, was thrilled to partake in a few sample of this yummy liquid. They were 'hard' kombucha so you do need to pace yourself. One brand was FLYING EMBERS and the name came out of the embers of The Thomas Fire. With myself and husband being Thomas Fire victims, I mean SUR-THRIVE-ORS, it was nice to learn that a percentage of their profits goes to first responders. Stage was easy to sit around or dance if you wanted. Music was very good. Food trucks were there. We enjoyed East Indian food. Prices were fair for this type of event. Fun event, great location by the beach and plentiful beers. What more can you ask for to spend a day in beautiful Ventura!!
