I've been here twice for their yearly bridal fair. Parking is easy and the huge space allows for lots of vendors. This year there were three limos and a party bus in the building! The grounds all around are really neat with farm equipment and funny statues. I'd like to come back when all the grounds are being used instead of just the one building. read more

Have you ever been to the Rural rodeo before?? It was my first time, and boy was that a lot of fun!! I learned so much about how those big trucks work, play, and compete. I discovered hay squeezers, amazing hard working farm hands, and all the different trucks that make our farms run. Potato poking races Tractor barrel races And all in competition style. They won trophies and money prizes. I have never rooted for a trator in my life before. It was a blast. As was the 80's band, circus imagination and stem games out by the pigs. This pass Friday was the first time coming to the fair. Moved out here 26 years ago when I was just a teen. It was not that bad. Hot as hell but over all my family really enjoyed the fair. It has rides for all ages and a lot to see. Lots of farm animals. Pigs, goats, exotic animals, cows, and many more. Food was awful and very expensive. Merchandise was expensive too. They nickle and dime you every where. Parking was $10 but we didn't pay due to Free parking on Friday and Saturday we had a parking pass. Teenagers were well mannered didn't see any issues. Concert was the best for me. I had front roll seats to Sheila E. and Chaka Kanh. They rocked the place!!! Here is the negative. I had some awful douche cut another parent and myself from the lines on one of the rides. He pushed himself and his kid to the front while there was a line already formed by kids and parents. He is lucky he didn't push a child or there would of been very upset parents. Come on parents teach your kids to wait their turn!!! My other issue about the park is shade!!! I'm willing to donate 3 trees. My goodness you are right under the sun at all times. I understand we live in the AV but trees can do a big difference and can create beautiful shade. Some of the workers were very rude. My daughter was at one of the rides and this kid gave the thumbs up to dad, they stop the ride because the worker thought it was very inappropriate. One the carousel my daughter needed assistance and one worker was very rude when I told him I needed to get in there and assist her. Over all I give them 3 stars for a 2 day family fun. Minus 2 stars for the horrible high prices, rude employees, and lack of shade. read more

Disclaimer: this review is not about the Annual AV Fair. I do not particularly like any fairs because I feel that the food and tickets for games are over priced and the rides are sketchy. Otherwise, I don't have an opinion on the fair at all. This review is for the staff and facilities for our event at the fairgrounds. We had our wedding and reception on site and we were very pleased with the outcome. The catering was excellent, people came up to us all night telling us it was the best wedding food they had ever had at a reception. We selected two entrees- grilled chicken with Alfredo sauce and tri tip as well as mashed potatoes, grilled veggies, and a salad for sides. There are other options and other cuisines to choose from as well. The venue was gorgeous before we had even added our table settings and decor. Chandeliers and draping fabric hang from the ceiling and the golden chairs that come with your venue rental are stunning. Very little needs to be added to make it a dream. The bartenders were very professional and paid attention to when guests needed to slow down. Security was excellent and professional as well. The very little amount of drama was taken out of site and dealt with privately which made our wedding stress free and didn't interrupt the fun too much. It's very reasonably priced for all that you get out of it. And the ceremony in front of the waterfall was just picture perfect. This is a good place to consider for a wedding/ party venue. read more

The first day of the AV fair boasted free admission and parking between 4 and 5 pm, one complimentary game and ride tickets, and free grand stand seating to Darius Rucker! What a steal, what a steal! The drive from work to the fair was a mad dash to make it in time for the 5pm cutoff and tempers were a-flaring, horns were a-honking, and people were generally being very redneck about cutting people off and flipping birds.... Anyway, dress attire is anything from the obligatory cowboy boots and hats, to short shorts to summer dresses to wangsta wear towards the night. There were a surprising number of people wearing long jeans, myself included, and we all paid dearly under the sweltering sun and dusty winds that do nothing to provide breeze and everything to fling hair into your face when you're trying to eat. Speaking of eating, this is typical fair food: greasy, carby, and even too sugary. The fried potato slices covered in cheese sauce and jalapenos ($6) were delicious for about 5 minutes, then got old with a quickness. The cinnamon rolls ($5) everybody (my roommate) raves about were good for the first two bites then I bit into a full grown sugar cube, which was a problem, even for somebody who eats candy on the daily. Notes: + If the whole crew is going to be imbibing, take the bus into the fair + Check out the different ways you can get free rides or free admissions on different days: bring in cans, read books, flash your military badge, bring in books, be a senior, be a kid, so on + Check the schedule to see if you can get free grandstand seating with your admission ticket + Buy tickets ahead of time at supermarkets for discounted prices + Apparently this is the only place to get indian tacos and fried twinkies in the AV + Bring your own bottled water + Avoid the little pockets of kids who look like they're trying to start fights. Luckily the sheriffs department is on hand to arrest and put out troublemakers. + Petting zoo! Racing pigs! + The home goods section was so cool! I spent a lot of time in the crocheting section and the table setting section. Did you know that salt and pepper are supposed to be parallel to the edge of the table? Points taken off if placed in the wrong direction. + The marketplace is very random. I went in trying to find some cowboy boots but nobody was selling cowboy boots. There were, however, vendors for anime, nuts, canned stuff, clothing, cutlery to name a few. Overall fun, but I would definitely come in shorts and bring my own food next time. We went to 2 concerts 2 days in a row and had a blast ! My daughter and I saw Trace Adkins, front row and had a great time. Waitresses bring your drinks right to your seat, security is great for allowing us to approach the stage to take great pictures and Trace pt on a great show. The fair itself was amazing. Even though it was over 100 degrees they had misters throughout to cool us off and everything is so much cleaner than years before. The first day, 6 of us went and we played so many games we walked away with arms full of stuffed animals that we eventually started giving away to little kids we passed along the way. The food was really good, as fair food goes, but as usual, expensive. But then again, I think that's to be expected at the fair. read more

Little but sweet. Good rides but no Washington State Fair. It's nice for a local event. If you live within 30 miles I'd say go to it, but definitely don't drive up from Los Angeles. There's a decent selection of food, good concerts, and some fun halls to explore. If you have kids, it's a great place for them. read more

Living in a larger city, Sacramento, and getting all cover bands at the "California State Fair" makes me look back and realize how spoiled I was to have the local LA County fair that booked huge names and accommodated patrons with free grand stand seating! I have been going to the AV fair every year up until I moved in 2014. I have always had a fantastic experience. Entrance and parking fees are cheap and as you can imagine- everything inside is overprices garbage. But that's what makes a fair great. Everything was expensive I spend 130+ on food that gave everyone the runs and games spending 20 dollars to get 40 credits sounds good until you realize that it cost 7 credits to play one game and twelve to play twice and it's 14+ credits for rides. Fairs are always fun to go to. This fairground is alright. They have a big cat exhibit that the workers swear is a sanctuary but you can tell that it's not reliable information. The petting zoo area is also sad to see. They're in these teeny tiny stalls and there isn't a limit of how many people are allowed in so it's insanely crowded. The food is okay. They used to have a great Mediterranean vendor but they haven't been there in a few years. I wish they had more plant based food options. Everything is mainly meat. You could get an Indian Taco from Joe's and request for them to hold the meat and that's pretty decent. They definitely need new vendors and more of a selection versus so many BBQ vendors, Mexican food vendors, etc- wish they'd step that up a little bit. My husband and I did try the Cheesecake on a stick (one with Oreos and the other with Fruity Pebbles) and those were surprisingly really good. read more

For a small-town community fair, I think this one is pretty decent. We go every year at least once and have a great time. Yeah, I think it would be better in October when it's not so freakin' hot outside, but this year they did a pretty good job trying to keep us cool. They had misters going and lots of shade, so it didn't seem as bad. The food selection seems to be growing every year. I couldn't believe how many things there were to choose from. The cinnamon rolls are seriously TO-DIE-FOR! Those alone are worth the price of admission. read more

I have been going to the AV fair since 2009. Ever since, then I have seen the prices go up and up. Last year, the price to park was $5 and now it's $10. We always got the tickets during pre-sale so we didn't have to pay full price. If you plan on going by the pre-sale tickets, the ones you get at Albertson or places like that. My family isn't a ride type of family, so we skipped the rides. So unfortunately I can't tell you about them but I'm sure other reviews do. In short, if you are bored and really want to do sometimes then go to the AV fair. We don't have much interesting stuff that goes on around here so might as well. read more

This is a review for the R.V. campground. An excellent campground to stage yourself a day before driving south through Los Angeles. We will stay here the night before so we can make the blitz through L.A. at oh-dark-thirty on Saturday or Sunday mornings when traffic is light. Despite being a flat asphalt parking lot, sites have electric, water and sewer. At 25 bucks a night, this is a bargain. Clean bathrooms and showers. Definitely not a destination campground in the summer and spartan in nature, this campground serves it's purpose after driving down from the Sierra's. read more

This is a review of the campground at the fair, not the fair itself. Though not a resort or anything, this spacious and well-run RV park will handle the largest vehicles without fuss. It is arrayed with back in spaces around the perimeter of the park offering 30A full hookups while the center row of spaces are all pull-thru style with 50A plugs. There is no advance registration at the park: self-registration only at the sign-in station as you pull in. We just spent a year in the park, leaving our RV there as we traveled back and forth from our house for working stretches during the week in the AV, and during that time there was never an instance where there were no spaces available. So do not worry about finding a space, the park is big and there are always lots of open spots, so long as the AV Fair is not going on. **SEE NOTE BELOW Though you can pay by credit card if you prefer, you will need to stop into the office the next morning to do so if you are a late-arrival. As of this writing, the 30A back-ins are $20/night and the pull-thrus run $25/night. There is no better rate for pull-thru RV spots anywhere near the Antelope Valley that I could find. The restroom and shower facilities are absolutely spotless. Though there are cypherlocks on the doors, you do not need a code or key to use them so long as you are a guest. Wifi is provided: the password is posted at the office when you sign in. About the only drawbacks are the fact that the park is utilitarian with very little landscaping. There are small, curbed, islands of xeriscaped dirt on what is otherwise blacktop from end to end, but no significant shade except for a couple spots that are generally occupied. The other is weather, wind in particular. The AV is pretty famous for its winds and the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds RV Park is no exception. While staying there, use caution in deploying your awnings. You can get away with it in the AM but always be prepared to trim the sails in the afternoon as you will likely have to. We never encountered one instance of crime out there. It is rather off the beaten path, well-fenced, and there is no real way for criminals to get to your stuff without really exposing themselves to being caught. Tips: About the biggest one I can think of is telling you how to get there. Although the address shows up on H street, that is not how you get to the RV Park. The park entrance is off G-8. G-8 can only be reached from 30th St. West for this particular stretch of the street. Coming from the North off CA-14, exit Ave. G, travel west to 30th St. W, turn Left, travel .5 miles to G-8, turn left yet again and follow the street down to the park entrance. Coming from the South, exit Ave. H, drive west to 30th St. West, turn right, and stay in the right lane. You will turn right at G-8. Follow the signs to the park. Our year spent at the AV Fairgrounds was a real bargain for us. We were treated well by the excellent manager, Pat Rush, who really cares that the park is run well and that stuff works for the guests. If they had a little grass and a swimming pool the place would be a resort, but for a staging area in the AV for RV travel there is no better alternative anywhere close by NOTE: The park Closes for two weeks during the Antelope Valley Fair every year. The Fair is held in August so check the web to make sure they are open if you plan on staying in August. read more

DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I purchased 6 tickets to the August 23r, 2019 Monster Truck show costing me $30 each totaling $180. First, the AV fairgrounds is 3 miles from my house (driving) so it does not take me long getting there. It took me 1 hour and 15 mins just to get into the parking structure inside the fairgrounds. There was no one directing traffic letting people know there were 2 lanes open to turn into the lot. Once we were able to get into the fairgrounds parking lot, there was also no one letting anyone know that there were 4 lanes open so we can pay and park, instead everyone piled onto one lane. By the time we parked it was 7:30 pm which is when the Monster truck show started. Now, imagine in a car with impatient toddlers waiting that long, to find out that there were ONLY TWO entry lines to the gate to get into the fair AND the show. It took us from 7:45pm to 8:55pm to finally get into the Monster Truck show, that is another 1 and 10 minutes. Some families way up ahead from us stated they were going on 2 hours of waiting in line, I mean how RIDICULOUS can someone poorly coordinate this!!! We finally walked into the show and started walking to our seats F 5-10 when at 9:00pm we heard "Well thanks for coming to the 2019 Monster Truck show! Hope everyone had a great time, thanks for coming". Well at this point, we are FURIOUS, my toddlers are crying their eyes out because it pretty much took us almost 3 hours just to get into our show, not to mention we left our home with plenty of time to spare. You cannot explain to a 4-year-old why the show has ended and we have to leave, you cannot calm a crying toddler because we have been talking about trucks all week. I myself wanted to cry too because of how frustrating this was for us as a family and the fact that our kids were heartbroken. Some of the workers let us know that there were so many people upset because they waited so long to get into the fair/shows, and that they were severly short-staffed. I mean how can you have only 2 lines to all the events??!! HOW??! I've been to the Pomona fair plenty of times and to Monster Jam and I've never had this horrible experience happen to our family. Had a great experience at the fair this year! We saw Sublime in concert lol. Am i the only one who thinks every song sounds the same? Okay, commence the negativity! :) Anyways, the atmosphere was phenomenal. There was tons of participation from the community and it was fun to see what everyone had entered into the fair. We will definitely be returning every year. The vendors were great, the parking was great. I loved that they had someone picking up people on a tram -- so thoughtful! there are tons of cheaper ways to get in (free night for the first night, $1 Night, bring 3 books, etc) If you look for ways to save, you will find it! Our experience here was awesome! We got discounted entrance tickets and wristbands through a family member and got to go in almost all of the rides due to the short waiting lines. It is not overly crowded, but just what you should expect of a fair. Went there mostly for the food and the mango gelato and funnel cake did not disappoint! Take cash for parking ($10) and take the tram towards the entrance if you're not in the mood for walking. I would recommend to go around sunset and that still provides enough time to do everything without the hot weather. Fair ends at midnight, but we were still there a little bit past that time and still having fun on the rides. read more

I went here a while ago when the fair was in town. It was a lot of fun! Yes, it can get a little crowded and some of the food items and little knick-knacks are a little overpriced, but well, that's just how business goes. Just prepare for that and bring some cash to make things easier on yourself because, to put things in perspective, one kebab will cost you about 20 bucks. Still, they do have a wide variety of your typical fair foods (fried cheesecake, fried butter, funnel cake, etc.), so expect that as well. I recommend bringing some water and a small bag, as it can get a little hot and walking around for a while can become exhausting. I would say the experience is definitely worth it. Simply ensure you show up early, so you can get the best experience possible, as lines can get a little long once it gets darker. I would definitely recommend getting the full-access wristbands instead of buying credits, as you will most likely end up expending your resources quite quickly with the credits. Came here for the flee market this past weekend and I heard from my local family that it only comes around twice a year so that answered my question why there was so many cars just for a flee market aka swap meet in my neck of the woods. They had plenty of food offerings and beer stations that it felt like a small fair, and I know it was not their big fair but it felt pretty cool walking around and seeing what people had to offer and sell. There was a car show as well but I have been to enough car shows to skip it. But I enjoyed myself for a few hours with family looking for stuff that has been used and at a decent price. Had a tasty jalapeño pretzel that was pretty big, also picked up some kettle corn that was delicious for $6 a bag. Bathrooms were very clean and maintained well, I saw people checking on bathrooms often while I walked by the flee market stands. If you want to park close to the venue I believe parking was $5. Some people parked across the highway but on a dirt spot, not sure how safe or legal that is, read more

Had the BEST time at the fair this year!!!! The great thing about the Antelope Valley Fair is you only need tickets for rides, for everything else you can pay cash (a BIG PLUS!) Great rides, food, exhibits, concerts, entertainment and so much more!!!! Fairgoer tips: Don't miss spinning the wheel at the fair booth for souvenirs! And be sure to get one of the coupon books - it'll save you $$$! Also, it'd be nice to have a layout/map of all the vendors/concessions (I looked all over for the 'funnel cake cheeseburger' vendor & couldn't find them...even guest services didn't know!!) Honestly I miss the old fair grounds location where there were trees and natural shade. The new location if you have food your 80% of the time gonna be stuck in the sun, which is why attendance is WAY lower till after sundown. Sun = miserable, unless you want to walk around in the "pester you sales building". With small children this fair is a pass. read more

Well yesterday I went to the fair and can not believe you have to pay $10 dollars for parking now and I think that if you buy concert tickets you should get a parking pass cause what you pay for tickets is pretty good price. An if you go to all the shows if feel they should give you that for free I've been going for at least 20 years and I get the same seat for every concert. An you should be able to buy your seats early or at least reserve them if you pay to watch all the concerts for as long as I have but no you don't get that option. I know when I got to the LPAC I get my same seats cause I'm alway buying 5 or more concerts. read more

This review is for last night's concert only: Gin Blossoms & Collective Soul. Our first time at AV Fair. We had great seats in the Gold Section. The venue, sound system, and bands were fantastic! Four of us came from the Pasadena area, braving Friday evening traffic on the 210 and 14 to get there. What stunned us is that Gin Blossoms only played a 30-minute set, and Collective Soul only played for 1-hour! Who books bands to come play for those short time-periods? It was quite the let-down from our concert expectations. We will not be buying tickets to any of the AV Fair's concerts in the future. read more

I personally enjoy the fair when it comes into town. My typical plan is to eat my way through. The rides are not my kind of entertainment, but there is live music and shows that are fun. There is also other forms of entertainment such as monster truck shows, destruction derby, "big name" preformers, and petting zoos. Parking is kind of a hassle and far but a tram circles the lot and drops off at the entrance. read more
