Bellevue desperately needs more local options like this one! Great alternative to Starbucks. Friendly service and a unique vibe

I got my cheese steak prepared the traditional way to make sure my comparison would be fair. The service was amazing. One of the employees and I are from the same area, so we talked while I waited for the food. He also described all his favorite menu items that I can't wait to try next time. I'm so sad that they're no longer off Charlotte Pike, but the food is worth traveling farther west in Bellevue to get. Love: service (above and beyond, kind, helpful); Philly Cheeze Steak (soft roll, well- seasoned steak, huge portion); fries (fresh, crunchy, well- seasoned); Itz a Philly sauce (goes well with the fries)

We loved them, and there was plenty of meat and cheese inside the bun. They are really messy, though, so be sure to get plenty of napkins. We ordered extra sauces, and they were so good, but you do get a small amount sauce for the price. Even so, I would order the Philly sauce again, but my husband was not a fan of his ranch sauce. These were the best Philly sandwiches we have found here in Nashville, so if you are craving a great Philly be sure to give them a try.

But when I saw this unique place in the parking lot. I'm a big fan of both chicken and tuna salad and I thought it was neat to see an entire store dedicated to it! Went in to scope out the menu (drive thru is currently out of order) and decided I needed to try "the one with the fruit and nuts". There was a line but it moved quite quickly. Apparently you can either order off the menu or snag a pre-made from the fridge and checkout for quicker service. The employees were friendly. Ordered it as a sandwich (rather than a scoop) and got the options of white, wheat, or croissant (the choice there was obvious). Got a soup for a side. Not a bogus price range, around $10. Used the restroom quick while they made up my order, which I didn't have to wait long for. The flavor was all fantastic! Even came with crackers for the soup and a little cookie for dessert. For sure if I lived near here, this would be a regular stop for me. The toilets were clean, though laughably it wasn't the men's and women's but the chick's and chick magnet's... oof, that heteronormativity... Plus the men's had "helpful tips" about taking their lady to this shop to get laid. I'm all for guys exploring their feminine side, y'know because they might find out they like it, not as a performative stunt to get in a girl's pants. How about we stop reinforcing dumb gender roles and just enjoy chicken salad? Last I checked that's pretty gender neutral. Sorry, soapbox moment!

Tables are lined with checkered tablecloths and bright colors. A large patio offers outdoor seating as well. There are two parts to Picnic Cafe. One side is a cafe where you can sit down and enjoy a meal or order one to go. The other side has cases of prepared foods and some food gift items. They have the largest variety of options of any of the restaurants like this in the area. All of the food here has been very good too. I love their chicken salad, tuna salad, and egg salad. The cucumber cream cheese sandwich is simple and delicious. The cranberry, lime, and apricot salads offer a fun treat with the meal. The Apricot Salad is my very favorite item here, but they recently had to switch to orange. They have a nice variety of drinks. They have lemonade, unsweetened tea, sweet tea, and several flavors of brewed coffee. The takeout area offers food that tastes just like home cooked food. The Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, and Sweet Potatoes with brown sugar topping are musts for me. The take home items are priced fairly. The rolls were okay, but I wouldn't buy them again. Picnic Cafe is a true gem. I really look forward to coming here!

Located in the heart of Belle Meade, it pulls the appetite of wealthy, old white women; however, the entire experience was lackluster. As this was our first time, we grabbed a menu located at the front counter and glanced across their listing of lunch options. The cashier was very cold and greeted us by saying "Are you ready?" with a sigh. I ordered the ham and cheese sandwich with fruit and a muffin! We also got a few desserts and snacks to share. She seemed very hostile and unwelcoming during our entire ordering process. The interior is cutely decorated with blue, white, and yellow southern decor. The inside felt charming and quaint. Since we came at lunch time on a Saturday, there was only one table left, and the tables felt very close together. My sandwich arrived quickly on store-bought white bread and deli ham. The fruit cup was fresh but had a large leaf of decorative greens in the bottom. The muffin was yummy and large. Overall, my food was good and tasted very well; however, it did not seem to be anything special. For two people to eat lunch here it cost $70, which for mediocre food, poor service, and a busy atmosphere seemed to be not worth it. I probably would not go back, but it is a super cute find in Nashville and made for an enjoyable and unique lunch date with family.

There is a woman who is usually there when we go in to pick up, I assume she's the manager as she's always running the show, keeping things going with a good attitude despite the heavy volume of online and in store orders. Having worked in food service I understand it'a not always easy and can often get stressful when volumes are high and waits are longer than expected, but this staff is killing it. It's come to be a rarity in the fast food service industry that you come across such great customer service. Please be courteous to them and give them grace as they are working as hard as they can.

The guy slicing the meat, ( 6'5" about 300 pound black guy with a beard) and I only put a description of the employee in because everybody else in there was great and I don't want somebody else to get in trouble for this guy's lack of customer service. So the big guy making the subs messed up one of them. No big deal, I picked up on it when it got to the next guy in line who dresses it up. Before he started putting stuff on it, I let him know that I had asked for a Club Supreme & that looks like he made a Club Sub. The big guy, Instead of apologizing or saying, "no worries my bad", got worked up & said, "No you ordered a Club Sub." The next guy in line, said no big deal pulled the meat off & said "just re-cut the meat for the Supreme." Problem solved right? You would think so however, as he's re-cutting the meat, he's mumbling under his breath, talking shit about me in front of my son!!! I almost said something, but because my son was there, we just looked at each other and shook our heads. This is my problem with this particular location is lack of customer service & training. Don't get me wrong the other guy was great as was the rest of the crew behind the counter. I'll continue to go to this location but if I ever see that guy in there, I'm turning around and walking out. There's no way I'm not giving my business to a store that has an employee that treats their customers like that. That guy needs to either go or some serious retraining.
