I then got no less than 10 phone calls saying "please give us a call so we can talk about your situation. Some called more than once. Lakeland Heating and Cooling (Jason) was nothing like that... $1270 flat rate to replace the water heater. Yes, thats how he replied in his email.. as I requested. I was told the diagnostic would cost $149. I asked to be informed of any repairs that had to be done. Technician checked the system and recommended replacing unit. We discussed replacement unit and cost. I was ready to pay deposit. In the next 10 minutes I was told that the model I selected is old and not available. New model costs $1000 more. I asked for a proposal to decide later. Technician told me that the visit costs $396. He said that he fixed air conditioner that was not working. He never told me that he is fixing anything. Through our the visit it looked like he was figuring out the problem. I talked to the owner and we agreed that any repairs that were done will be undone so that I do not have to pay for repairs. Then the technician removed all the wires from the board making both heat and fan unusable. It was actually perfect. We finally got to the dreaded end of life for both our furnace and air conditioner and right during the busiest time for all companies, midsummer and right after two rounds of very damaging storms. We got a quote from the company we had been using and that quote wasn't necessarily gross outside of reasonable but we felt that with such a high investment we should get at least one more quote. We called Enright, who handled the quote and all of our questions immediately. They were less expensive than our previous quote, had a much better warranty and better financing. They are also clearly competent. The owner, out of mercy on our souls after the storms came to see our broken system first and we didn't hear him at the door and he had to leave. We felt horrible. He is busy! He treated us with such grace. The company is family owned and operated and works around the clock and are very accessible. The installers came right on time, were extremely polite and conscientious the entire time and finished their quality work ahead of time. They were clean, well organized and cheerful. They said something in furnace looked rusted and said needed new furnace, not worth repairing. They looked at air conditioner unit and said connections look fine but get better deal if get furnace and air units at same time. After "discounts", replacement of both units estimated $8,500. Had Winters Heating & Air Conditioning come out for second opinion. Said no display on ecobee implied electrical issue. They tested wires, fuse, and looked closely at air conditioner unit. End result - Something needed to be unblocked on furnace, and critters ate through some of the insulation on the air conditioner wires. Furnace cleaned, and wires repaired. Cost $300. Works like a gem. New units quote significantly less than King quote too. Winters will be the FIRST place we call for any repair or new units.
