Benji's rating: (5/5), An amazing restaurant all around. I ate here for the first time the other day and really enjoyed it. The line was fast, the staff was friendly enough, and the food was really good. The seating area of the restaurant was exceptionally clean, something I wish more restaurants did right. I definitely recommend eating here if you haven't tried it yet. read more

Surcheros Fresh Mex - Still preparing meat - Tex-Mex Near Me - Statesboro, Georgia

By far one of my go-to spots in Statesboro. The food is fresh, flavorful, and delicious. I always get a variation of a veggie burrito bowl and haven't been disappointed. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. There's nothing I don't like about this place. - And they have a drive-thru for online orders (sweet!)! read more

So the first 2 times we went here, we ate at the restaurant and loved it. My original review was 5 stars. Then we ordered food for pick-up twice and both times were horrendous, so I'm updating (and dropping) my rating. The first time we ordered, we noticed that we got much less food than when we ate in the restaurant. We also ordered a side of chicken for my son and also a small queso. Both were left out of the order. It was frustrating because my son didn't have food, but I understand that mistakes happen. So I called and spoke to someone who said they would "leave a note" on their board for the next time we ordered to credit us for those things. That was a bit annoying because (a) that's not a reliable system and (b) I hate having to try to explain things in the future to get a remedy- just fix it now. Anyway, so the next time we order, I again add the side of queso and the side of chicken. When my husband went to pick it up, he explained that the side of chicken and queso should be free because of the last order. The guy at the register told him the note only mentioned the queso, so he didn't give us the chicken for free. I'm frustrated that my husband didn't push the issue, but here's the kicker- they forgot the side of chicken AGAIN. So now I've paid for a side of chicken twice and not received it (and had to figure out other sources of protein for my son twice). Also, my food had some hard thing in it... I bit down, it was hard, I spit it out and it looked like a small acorn?? What the heck. Ewww. So I'm pretty mad and I call and ask for a manager. The girl who answered did not know the manager's name and could not tell me when she would be working. Ummm.... can you find out???? So she gets me the manager's name but says she doesn't have set hours so they can't tell me when to call back. I was so frustrated. I loved this place at first, but until they get their act together I don't intend to eat there again. read more

So good! They've only been open for two days, so everyone still trying to get the hang of things but the end results were great! I got the nachos with the ground beef. You get a huge amount of chips and there's plenty of toppings to choose from. The Surcheros sauce is so good!! Thanks to the worker who suggested it! And at the end before you pay, they give you a TON of queso. I was in heaven. My mom got the burrito bowl with chicken. She let me try a piece and it was pretty tasty too!! The only real complaint I have is the layout of the restaurant. Customers have to cut through the line to get to the bathroom, so that makes things a little difficult and awkward. Other than that, I will be back. Can't wait to try the steak! read more

Surcheros Fresh Mex - Nachos - Tex-Mex Near Me - Statesboro, Georgia

Service is slow. They don't care about online orders whatsoever. If they are busy at all they will finish anyone else's order that is in line. Tried to get cashier's attention multiple times and they did not care or communicate anything to team members. Had this experience multiple times visiting. read more

I could eat here every week - it's my top pick out of all the other similar burrito joints (Moes, Chipotle, etc). Their food tastes fresh, everything is diced up super fine, & inside is always clean! But you've got to try their sauces - that's what makes this place in my opinion! I always get both the vinaigrette & the Surcheros sauce! I get a chicken bowl every time & it's always more than enough food + comes with chips & salsa! And they now have a rewards app - yay! read more

Food is good. However, when you place an order online, it gives you a time to pick it up. If you get there early, the workers can't see the order so you literally have to wait for the minute it says it will be ready before they can even prep it for you. Why make online ordering an option when you can just go in and order and it will be done sooner? It just doesn't make sense logistically. read more

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SPOT! If you're thinking this is another Barberitos or Moes... you'd be confused. Frankly, neither of those places... and dare I say it, Chipotle hold a candle to the quality and flavor explosion you can expect from Surcheros. I moved here from ATL about a year ago and was a huge Chipotle lover. So when I realized there wasn't one in town, I was pretty bummed - UNTIL... until friend of mine told me about Surcheros and well, lets just say my mourning for a lack of Chipotle ended that day. The ingredients and quality here are second to none in comparison to other restaurants in the same lane.. and I say "lane" lightly because Surcheros really does separate themselves from the competition through freshness, quality and flavor. I've had pretty much everything on the menu and can tell you that you can't go wrong with whatever you choose to order. I will say the nachos are my favorite, but their bowls are mouthwatering too. Their rice is.... . I mean, it's really the only way i can explain it. When ordering for pick up one day, I was torn between nachos or a bowl and accidentally ordered my nachos with the rice, and well, I really wasnt mad about it. All of the meat options are great, but the steak is so juicy and tender and has become a favorite for me. Whatever you get, you'll likely find yourself eating past the point being full because its just that good. The food coma and tighter fit of your pants is 100% worth it ... and later hunger will return and you will want to go back for more for your next meal. Lastly, and most importantly, I can't finish my review without saying, the management and ownership is outstanding. Doug truly cares about his customers and their experiences. He goes above and beyond to connect and communicate with his guests, ensuring they feel heard and that they return often. This is something lost on many establishments in various industries today, but not here. If you've made it this far, and you're still debating on whether or not to go here or somewhere else for your next meal, well, you'd be silly to go anywhere else after reading all of this. read more

Just stopped here and found out they are like Taco Bell food Not real Mexican Food just food they want to call Mexican . So I have left and going to find a Real Mexican Restaurant.... Sorry can't tell you anything about the food as I didn't stay to try it... read more

This was not what I was expecting. The scoops are pitiful and the food is honestly quite bland. The only option I really liked was the option to grill some of your contents . They're also quite pricey , and I was shocked at the fact that I paid almost 12 dollars for this little bowl . I hate to compare , but for a restaurant that is supposed to be knock-off Chipotle , it's not even touching Chipotle REMOTELY . It's more like an upscale Moe's. I'm not sure if i'll be returning to Sucheros , but the food was just okay. Not impressed. read more

This is a new business, and there are many kinks to work out. I would give this restaurant 1 star except that the staff were exceptionally nice. I go to Chipotle a lot and so I am comparing Surcheros to Chipotle. Here are some issues: *The line was very slow largely because the restaurant had one person staffing two stations. They had 4 people working the line and it seemed chaotic. *The line was also slow because they offer many toppings like a Subway but no sauces. Instead the customer has to go to a salsa bar. I disliked this. I want a salsa mixed with my food. *I got a veggie bowl without rice, a side of queso (a medium was tiny), and water. Was almost $11 for some beans sprinkled with cheese and toppings. They do not have roasted vegetables or sofrito like Chipotle. The food tasted fresh and flavorful but was lacking in low carb veggie options. *Meal was served on a piece of paper in a plastic bowl. Probably not an issue for a burrito but the paper dissolved into the food in my burrito bowl. They need paper bowls like Chipotle. Fail in terms of serving method. *I was handed a water cup, plastic plate and side of queso without a tray. The queso was put on the chips and fell onto the floor as I walked to my seat. They need trays. The staff were very nice. The beans were flavorful if overpriced and small in quantity for the price. The restaurant needs to radically rethink how they operate their line, have salsas on the line, streamline their system, and add more vegetarian and shrimp options than rice, beans and lettuce. My friend and I were underwhelmed and likely won't be back. We can get full service Mexican faster and at a lower price in Statesboro. Hopefully the restaurant will fix the problems others and I have listed and find a permanent place in Statesboro. read more

First experience very disappointed. They were super stingy with how much food they give you for the price you pay. I had a burrito bowl, if you can even call it that. They sprinkled the rice and it barely covered the bottom of the to-go container. Steak was $1.49 extra and it was super dry and tough. If you can get past the dryness and toughness, the flavor wasn't bad. I think I got more cilantro than I did rice. They skipped by bowl when we got to toppings. If I hadn't said anything, I would have ended up with just 4 ingredients. As you can see in the picture, it didn't fill up half my take out bowl. $10 for that? No thanks. My boyfriend got a quesadilla and quite frankly, $10 could get him a lot more elsewhere. Next time I'm craving Tex mex, it's Moe's or Bites for us. read more

First off...I love Surcheros and have never had an issue like ours tonight. Apparently the manager named Ladue?? (who after this experience told me Sunday is his last day anyway) has a lot to learn about customer service. I hope in his next job he doesn't have to deal with people. My family and I went to Surcheros after my sons baseball game. It was 8:39 when we arrived. I honestly didn't know they closed at 9pm. There were some issues when we were checking out with the people ahead of us so our service was slow. We got to the register at 8:48pm. At that time we were told we couldn't sit in the restaurant and eat our food. I told them we wanted to eat there and not in our car. The manager Ladue was not happy but told us OK but that they would be cleaning around us. No problem, we will eat fast. We quickly ate our food and were done by 9:02pm. We left and as we drove off the manager Ladue that had a problem with us eating there walked out of the door and did a smart-ass wave at my car as we were driving off. Little did he know I saw him and made my husband turn around. I banged on the door and he acted like he didn't see me. Another worker opened the door and I went to this employee and let him know I saw him and don't appreciate that . If they didn't want us to sit and eat, they shouldn't have let us in to buy food. (a lot more was said but too much to type) Bottom line...we weren't asking them to stay open 30 minutes late. We simply wanted to quickly eat our food. Customer service goes a long way and unfortunately this was some of the worst I have experienced. read more

the service here was absolutely unacceptable. When i walked into the restaurant only two tables were full and the first young lady's greeting was extremely mediocre. the cashier had a horrible attitude when checking me out. she asked me if my order was for here or to-go. when i responded with "for here" she rolled her eyes, threw my food in a to go bag and yelled at me with my total. i was not happy with my experience today. read more

Came to get lunch here for the first time the other day, and they were making quick work of the line! Their chicken and veggies were pretty good, definitely exceeded my expectations. They also got a great selection of salsa and hot sauces! read more

They give you small portions, no flavor and the ingredients are not fresh. Which I'm not understanding why? That's your brand......only in statesboro. I will drive 45 min to go to chipotle verses eating here. Thanks read more

Food was very bland. Order was cold. Half of the items on the menu were missing. 1 star

This newly opened food chain is similar to Chipotle but 10x better. Choices of wraps, various salsas, 25 fresh ingredients to choose from and they grill the burrito after they fill it so it's crispy in the outside. My son attends Georgia Southern and he wanted to take me here. Excellent choice! read more

First time eating here. It was edible, but they completely messed up my pick up order. They didn't include about half the items I asked for in my burrito. I got the pork burrito, and frankly, it wasn't even that good. Maybe it was because I was expecting the toppings that I'd asked for. But it was also quite salty. The accompanying chips were covered in grease. The only reason I gave them two stars was that the order was ready when I picked it up, and the staff were pleasant. Also they were almost empty of customers so no excuse for messing up the order. I'll definitely stick with Barberitos or chipotle (both in the same shopping area) in the future. read more

One of my favorite places to go. It's definitely better than chipotle that includes layout, presentation, and freshness. The staff are all friendly and they ask ways ensure that you get everything you need. I always get a loaded chicken bowl and I love the option to get your toppings cooked on a grill! The only disappointment is the queso being $3 for what looks like a sample cup. read more

Yummy and quick! Fresh and delicious. Great late night pick for something not too heavy.

I ordered mini nachos for takeout with chips on the side and extra chicken I did not receive the extra chicken that I paid for as well as chips were not on the side this place obviously as reviews show do not care about their paying customers will not be returning and neither should you if you want what you ordered. I would give this place a zero stars if it would post like that but unfortunately luckily for them it does not. read more

This is only the second day of it being open in Statesboro, and I must say - so far, so good! I got a beef burrito bowl, which to my surprise also came with a bag of tortilla chips. The beef had a little spice to it, which I really loved. It was very flavorful. The Surcheros sauce was awesome! They also asked me if I wanted my mushrooms and onions sautéed which was a great and quick addition. I also got the S'mores quesadilla which was delish, although I wish it was toasted a bit longer. It was cut in 4 pieces, which I shared with my roommate, but didn't think to take a picture until after we already tried a piece. The line was long (as expected) but moved pretty quickly. I will definitely be back to try something different. This place trumps Moes and Barberitos! read more

I come to this establishment at least 4 during the week. However, I think I'm not going to come here as often-maybe not at all. They've gotten very sloppy with how they prepare the dishes, they short you on ingredients, and they constantly forget to put what you request in mobile orders. read more

Customer service here is a joke! Portions are small and prices are large. Salsa options aren't very good and chips are stale. I definitely would not waste my time or money there again. I wouldn't send friends or family there. Their small cheese dip is over $2 and is put in one of the small salsa sample cups. My husband ordered a bowl and asked where the rest of it was? Looking at reviews it looks like other ppl feel the same way. Their health score rating is only B (check it for yourself) and the employees there have bad attitude. read more

Food is always amazing service is usually amazing. Today was the first time I have ever went into Surcheros and did not have amazing service, there was one employee by the name of Abbey who was absolutely rude all because I wanted to make sure I did not get extra onions honestly that's it. And the manager was standing next to her and didn't see anything wrong with her attitude. Me being the adult I am I thanked the rude young lady by her name while she rolled her eyes at me and kept it moving. Everyone else was absolutely wonderful. read more

Just another over-rated crappy mexican restuarant, as if we don't have enough of them here. Food was not anything above average

The food here is really good. Fresh ingredients made it incredibly tasty. The design of the restaurant is very neat. Additionally, customer service is great. So those things alone warranted a 4 star review. Where I deducted a point is in two problem areas I see. First, prices are a lot higher than Moe's. Quality is very similar, so Moes has a better value. The other fault is that there's a slow point in the line in which customers can choose to have their veggies cooked. This backed up the line and made the wait very long. If you come during a non-rush period, this is a great restaurant to eat at. read more

Great service. Great food. Great experience. Love the extra effort in the small things like grilling burritos.
