Another visit to the original El Som, aka "The Hat", and an even better experience. This is a staple for me when coming to the 'Boro. We got a great server this time and the lunch portions of food were way more than enough to satisfy! The salsa was also perfect! I was shocked to see that our entire meal was less than $35 for fajitas, chicken nachos and two big drinks. I don't know how someone could rate this place low. I've been to hole in the wall Mexican places and this one stands out as one of the best, and they've been doing it for a long time. Kudus to the staff for a great experience!

Fantastic food as always. Great margaritas, fast service, wonderful staff. The seats could be redone as they are worn out.

Maddy linton ... I cannot explain in words how greeted and welcomed I felt when I entered the resteraunt. She served all of our needs quickly and efficiently without making one complaint I requested that she be my server knowing her history of excellent academic achievement as my peer in high school She most definitley deserves a raise after working for a while and getting a hold of the reigns. 100/10 experience because of her

El Sombrero, or "the hat", is a great place to start off your night in Stateboro. I used to frequent this location at least 2-3 times a week for their drink specials, which were always very cheap, so there was usually an abundance of college kids hanging out in the bar area. Normally in any other town El Sombrero would be a great place to take a family; however, in this town I would not recommend anyone with kids to take their family in here at any hour of the day except for an early lunch. If you plan on going any time after lunch you might have your children be exposed to massive amounts of drinking and cigarette smoking if they catch a glimpse of the GSU students in action. I actually went to this location to start off a night of celebration for my 21st birthday party. Needless to say, all of my friends ordered me a copious amount of shots like the "Flaming Dr. Pepper" and the "4 Horsemen." I know what your thinking, and my answer is yes, those shots looked as frightening as they tasted. The food is typical of any other Mexican restaurant that anyone has ever eaten at. It is a little heavy on the stomach though, and may cause an unpleasant night if you eat here before going out on the town.

Frozen sour cream

Very rude customer service from the manager and our waiter. When speaking to the manager about the service, poor food quality, and incorrect bill charges we were ignored, interrupted, and overlooked. The manager continued to blame us for the mistakes of the restaurant rather than taking initiative and listening to our concerns & complaints. Sour cream was frozen and a whole taco was missing!! Only come here if you're ready to be disappointed. Not usually like this but might not return.

Food was horrible service was also awful! Ground beef smelled like dog food request shrimp.

This is the best Mexican restaurant in Statesboro. Be sure to go to this location and not the one located downtown. Great food and drinks!

The one closest to Downtown Statesboro, on Fair Road (the old one), can get pretty rowdy during Happy Hour.

My goto spot in Statesboro when anyone comes to visit…read more OGreat food expertly prepared, a luscious cocktail menu, desserts that are off the charts, pleasant and helpful staff, and a tremendous bonus to find out that they locally source as many items and ingredients as possible.

Absolutely great bistro in Statesboro! We arrived 10 mins before 11, when they opened for brunch on…read morea Sunday, and there was already a line of people waiting! Must be a good sign. We promptly got sat by the lovely staff working. We sat outside, I ordered an Aperol spritz and my husband got a Bloody Mary. All of our drinks were delicious, reasonably priced. The Bloody Mary wasn't spicy (although a table next to us was complaining it was...), and the Hugo spritz was SO refreshing! They for the fresh mint from their herbs out front! Only complaint was we prefer our espresso martinis to be mostly espresso heavy, and this one was more cream heavy. We ordered the Brussels, country breakfast (subbed cheese grits instead of pancakes because we're gluten free) and got a side of fresh fruit. It was so much food. We didn't finish it all! The grits were nicely seasoned and cheesy. Brussels were super crispy and not drenched in grease or sauce. Eggs were nice and salty, potatoes were fried nicely. Everything was great. We would love to come back for lunch or dinner - especially happy hour. It wasn't too loud and we felt there was plenty of seating.
