Attended a cooking class with the great Chef Dom. The energy was on 100 from the beginning with Chef bringing a positive vibe. Everyone was engaged and ready to learn. We cooked steak fritesand a flourless chocolate volcano cake for dessert. Classes are BYOB and they have an infused water that you can have as well. Instructions were clear, the food was delicious, and after cooking, we had a time to go out and shop (you save 10% on your in store purchases during class), and when we returned to the kitchen our tables were set and we were served family style. It was my first cooking class and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would definitely suggest this for a fun date night. You get the experience and food all in one space. read more

To date, we have attended at least a handful of classes here. We have never had a bad experience and have always enjoyed the offerings that they have. The classes are done very well. A good mix of hands on experience to teacher instruction. The dishes are always flavorful and provide an opportunity to increase my cooking skills. All of the Chefs have been amazing. They are very professional and personable to the attendees. It's one thing to be able to prepare amazing dishes, but it's another to provide instruction to people of various cooking experience and expertise. Took a fun cooking class here on a Sunday morning. Perfecting French pastries. Chef Dominique was a ball of high energy leading us through the class of almost 2.5 hrs. Everything is prepared for you , you just follow instruction. Great space at the back of the store, where they do several classes a week, look up on their website. They offered us water or espresso when we got there. You then get right into it. After you put your apron on, first on the list was sea salt caramels or Fleur de sel caramels ! This was a lot of getting water and sugar to heat and stirring ! Pop it in a pan and cool to cut later. Then onto making the choux pastry for the eclairs. Make the dough and let that cool. While you make the pastry cream and melt the chocolate. Then pipe the dough onto the marked sheets . Bake ! Then once cooled you fill with cream and roll the tops in chocolate. Voila ! Those were fun and delicious. Surprisingly light. Next up was the lavender palmiers . Basically on a sheet of pre made puff pastry sprinkle the dried lavender buds and sugar mix and roll into the pastry . Roll up and cut to size. Bake and eat ! Was a little disappointed it was pre made pastry dough for that one. Plus they were kinda hard after they cooled off. The caramels also did not set so we were not able to cut those. Even when we took home and tried again it still got super sticky once at room temp. All in all the class was a fun time though. You're allowed to shop with a 10% discount if you're taking the class and you get $10 off the next class if you sign up that day in store. The time goes fast as you're going through each recipe. You're placed in groups so not everyone gets to do each step but you end up switching out. They have a great selection of classes and times to suit. Then you take your goodies home with you ! Recently attended the pasta at home cooking class with Dom. First off Dom is amazing - so energetic, fun, and clearly a vet at this. The pasta making process was simplified and enjoyable and the final product made me never want to buy a box of noodles from the store ever again. My wife and I bought a Philips pasta maker from the Charlotte, NC location at Southpark Mall. The machine did not come anywhere close to meeting our expectations. When I tried to return the item, the clerk at the register said we could not return it if we had attempted to use it. Just took the Beef Wellington cooking class for date night. I love that they let you bring a bottle of wine and you really learn how to make a Beef Wellington from the technique to get a perfectly cooked beef to a savory and amazing duxelles (mushroom mixture). They also make time to share the tips and tricks to do the wrapping of the Wellingtons to get that perfect texture on the puff pastry. We met some lovely couples and various skill levels and were surprised at the end with a honey almond cake for dessert. I love that this class also comes with a 10% coupon so we can get a few more gadgets for our kitchen to make these types of meals easily again at home to impress our friends. We came here for a cooking class that I've tried getting into for a year. Due to the pandemic it made it a little difficult because of cancelations and closures of locations. But I was able to finally lock in a date for my fiancés birthday at the South Park Location. He was super surprised and we both were excited to be chefs together and someone show us how to cook something new. The space was very clean and the chef was very kind and helpful. Travis and i both hoped that we could have been more hands on, not sure if that's something they prevented because were still in a "pandemic" or if that's typically how classes are ran. Either way I was hoping we would have like burners in front of us and we cooked our own meals with coaching. We did work as a team with the two other couples that were with us. It was fun and lots of engagement with everyone. We will look into more classes here and recommend you to take a class as well. read more

Just the absolute worst culinary experience ever with Chef Sonia. I am incredibly disappointed to have spent $200 for my girl and I to be yelled at. We showed up 15 minutes early and were made to feel bad for doing so, she seemed so pissed that MOST of the class was there before 7pm on the dot and begrudgingly ALLOWED us to come in to the kitchen at 6:57. We didn't cook a SINGLE thing. One person from our group got to SEAR a pork loin, and that was it. The rest of our time was spent chopping vegetables. Sorry, half the vegetables got put into a food processor so we didn't even really chop those. Chef Sonia cooked the desert, so I have no idea how that was made. we watched her cook the mushroom duxelle, the whole reason I wanted to do this specific class was to cook the duxelle. Outside of any real culinary experience we were yelled at, interrupted, and just overall uncomfortable. It's like we paid $200 to go back to high school and be abused by a teacher that was pissed they couldn't make it as a real chef. Not only was this the WORST cooking experience I've ever had, it was probably the worst date I've ever been on. We couldn't even talk to each other without getting yelled at. Then at the end of the class there was borderline begging for a tip. To wrap this up, I paid $200 to be yelled at, told when I could drink the wine I brought, cook NOTHING, and eat over cooked pork, and then be borderline panhandled at the end. While I feel like I have to start with a disclaimer for the high prices in this store, it's a pretty legit place for those of you out there who like to get your culinary chef on. We may not all be Gordon Ramsey or the next Iron Chefu but we ought to at least be able to feel like it. For that, Sur La Table has your back. Where to start with this place...there are utensils for cooking and for eating, bakeware, pots and pans, cutting boards, an exquisite knife selection, cook books, small appliances and lots of kitchen gadgets I won't bother going into full detail with naming. But think of the stuff you never knew you needed until you saw it. Very specific devices for cutting a single type of fruit or vegetable perfectly. That avocado scooper. The cherry pitter. (I'm not a bartender or professional baker. Many of you might not be either.) But hey, if you're about to make some kind of delicacy and want to make your life easier or shorten the process by several minutes or hours, why not? Most items like that aren't prohibitively expensive. I would be remiss not to mention that they also hold regular cooking classes here. I've never taken them myself but from the looks of it from standing around in the store, they look legit and informative. I've taken the classes at Salud! at Whole Foods and the prices for both fall in the same range. I would definitely like to get in here to take a class myself sometime and see how they stack up. On a final note, I don't want to gloss over the knives here. They've been my draw (what can I say, I dig knives) every time I'm at the mall. The cooking class was fun! My husband and I took the Pappardelle make and take home class yesterday with Daniella as our instructor. She was above average instructor in that she was clear and share tips and best practices about pasta making, knife handling and proper chopping of the ingredients we had to prep I had fun making the pasta by hand. I was glad she gave us a choice. As it's only 2 hours class, most of the ingredients were already prep and measured. All we have to do is chop and cut veggies and mix butter and lemon, etc. The class was very basic enough for beginners to follow along. The class was shorter compared to a class I have attended with Sur La Table in Kirkland WA 3 years ago, but maybe it is because if the pandemic. Overall, I got what I want which was just to refresh pasta making. The crew at the cooking class were helpful, the facility was clean. This store is located within the mall. We got to enjoy the finish product at home with family. The kale salad with the lemon Parmesan and garlic dressing was very good, and was the Pappardelle with asparagus and poached eggs! This is one of my favorite stores. The store focuses on meal preparation and presentation. They have everything from pots and pans, chef quality cutlery, to cooking spices and cooking oils. My favorite element of the store is kitchen gadgetry. They offer so many neato gadgets to up you game in the kitchen. If you aren't a very good cook that's okay- they offer cooking classes! They will so you how to prepare a great meal in their modern hi-end chef's kitchen. They sell their own line of glassware and china. Most of the options are pork so I chose to go with the Greek dish which was a chicken kabob. I highly suggest you bring 2-3 people because you will be working in a group setting. The only downfall of the class is that since it is in a store they do not have a restaurant license so you can't take the food home with you *come hungry*. I'll start by being that customer and say I have spent an ungodly amount of money here. Most of my kitchen is stocked from here. I recently decided to use them to sharpen my knives. The biggest headache and mistake I could have made. I dropped them off, picked them up the same day. When I got home and unsheathed them, they were destroyed. Wavy and unusable. Thinking I was dealing with a company I respected I contacted customer service who asked for photos, and agreed compensation was the right path. They referred us to the store. Darcy, the manager was great when we arrived with the damaged knives, shared she couldn't believe how someone could have done this damage. She took the knives, and asked if we still wanted to go the compensation route, we said yes and provided our address as understandably the store cannot just cut a check. We left the knives also understanding we didn't expect to keep them and receive compensation. She assured us we would have a call back from her Tuesday. (This was a Saturday.) Tuesday comes and goes, no response. Then on Wednesday we receive a call our knives are "fixed". We never signed or gave anyone permission to touch the knives again, and only left them under the guise we were turning them in to be compensated for them. Shocker, the manager "wasn't in" and couldn't be reached. So the associate manager who is the one I left the knives with the first time tells me she was told by Darcy to fix them and call us. Half the blade is gone from each knife from trying to "fix them". It's now been weeks since I first asked for my knives to simply be sharpened and we are getting the runaround on a resolution. We are left without kitchen knives, and no can be bothered to call, and sort this out. I am begging you to move your money to Williams Sonoma who has never blatantly lied to us, and certainly has not damaged our products. This is a sorry excuse for a store who refuses to own what they did, and make it right. read more

I am a Federal Government employee, thinking of moving here to Sharon area and I came to South Park Mall store with my daughter . We purchased a cast iron pot and paid $300. A young blonde female retail store employee took all items out to confirm all was inside. We got home and a piece was missing out of the box. We contacted the retail store customer service center, which verified our receipt of purchase. They told us to return to the store . So we drove from a 1hr drive and the store . The retail store manager name Tina, was not very pleasant about her store's mistake . She did not offer any courtesy credit for the small missing piece or anything. The cast iron pot was $300! Tina was down right trying to deny any wrong doing on the store . This store is not very customer friendly! This was there mistake! This was ridiculous and costly ! Do not visit this location! Save money and just watch cooking demos on tv or tablet. Had to cook with 7 people, not 4 as noted in description. Also didn't prepare the ratatouille as pictured on page (only reason why selected the course). Hands-on just means chopping a couple of items for the front of class chef cooking. If you're looking for a date night idea, I highly suggest taking a cooking class at Sur La Tab. We did the "Surf & Turf" cooking class with another couple and had a blast. The instructor gets everyone to be hands on, so dinner feels like a team effort. You get split into groups of four to do tasks. We had 4 groups of four in our class, and everyone worked towards prepping/slicing/dicing/peeling/etc. The food was delicious and I was surprised at how easy the recipes were. I brought my best friend a cooking class: mastering seafood for her birthday back in mid Jan. But due to the bad weather and scheduling problems we didn't get to do it til a week ago.. I had to call corporate and change the class 3x. And finally I had to call Meredith at South Park location to ensure that Robin and I will be able to attend this class last Thursday. She was sweet and very accommodating. Chef Ron was our master for the night.. During the Carowinds season, he's the master chef/supervisor at one of the big restaurant in there. And Part time at Sur La Table. Been cooking all his life. Started out as dishwasher and work his way up. Now when Carowinds closed, he works there full time. And I'm happy he taught us that night.. Robin and I were just praying we don't set the commercial kitchen on fire. But as it turn out. We manage to make some great dishes. Salmon with a delicious salad.. Then a great fancy oh sooo yummy fish stew. Yes there's a fancy name for it but I can not remember it for the life of me.. Best part, Brittany who help us cleans up.. No fuss. After we eat. We get to shop in the store with our 10% off coupon. Come back cook some more with the wine we brought along. Eat than sign up for the next class with additional 10% off. And of course no clean up. Thanks Brittany. Chef Ron made things look so easy and delicious. I haven't try to make it at home yet but I'm happy to learn something new with his jokes sprinkles in there. I am such a sucker for kitchen tools, gadgets & as Bruce called them, "doodads"! Sur La Table is a place where my type of people (read "suckers") can get lost in plenty of "ooooh, I need that!" On the hunt for a corn silker gadget, I stopped in today. Luckily, a helpful employee led me right to the perfect tool from "Chef'n". I'm a big fan of Chef'n products, as I own several of their kitchen tools. For what this particular gadget was, it was $7.95. Ouch! However, my parents needed it, so reluctantly I shelled out $17.05 (tax included) for two of these. The store has so much product, it would be easy to spend a lot of time (& money) in here. However, everything is laid out & presented neatly. Items are all priced, so you know exactly how much you're spending. As others mentioned, they carry the top brands in kitchen items. My recipe says I need a flour sifter. It's a grand occasion, let me just pop in to SurLaTable and grab me a nice cookie cutter. I need a nice wooden citrus reamer. I know I do not have to worry, because Sur La Table will have just about everything for your kitchen essentials. Place - packed with kitchen gadgets and goods for cooking, baking, drinking, and all the galore. Sometimes it seems chaotic with all the knick-knacks. Prices - truthfully, they are a bit pricier than if you were to go to HomeGoods or Macy's. But just wait out for the sale or browse through the clearance/sale section - you'd be surprised to find something that you would need. Or do what I do, screw it and just buy the darn thing because you have a recipe that HAS TO BE DONE THAT day (cause you cannot be bothered looking around the mall or other stores). Service - kind and attentive. The cashiers are nice and they always questioned what is would use with the gadget. It's a great way to get a conversation going. read more

The gentleman that was working pointed us toward the the coffee accessories without helping and thought it was more important to sharpen knives rather than offer assistance to a customer only purchasing small accessories. This place is great, especially the CLASSES!!! It's like a more-approachable William's Sonoma (not everything is crazy expensive and it's a warmer environment), PLUS they have COOKING CLASSES! Awesome! We went with another couple to attend a cooking class for Date Night where we cooked Tuscan foods. We brought a bottle of wine (they supplied glasses, an opener, water and coffee.) We started by making our desert, so it could 'set' in the freezer. with a fennel & apple salad (we learned basic knife skills and how to properly make a vinaigrette.) Then we ate our yummy salad after tasting everyone's dressings (ours was the best, just sayin'.) We were given a break to roam the store, drink our wine, use the restroom, etc... all while the friendly staff cleaned up our stations for us. We then moved on to learn about cooking techniques and made our entrees. We made chicken wrapped in prosciutto (like bacon!) and first seasoned and seared it, before baking it. While that cooked, we made our roasted vegetables (cauliflower... which two people in our group normally hate, but they loved it!). We learned a lot of new things, laughed a ton (you are grouped into groups of four, make note of that when selecting your station because you will make and eat each other's food, and work together closely). The food was really good, and it was a fun way to try to use new utensils and knives (no pressure to buy, though the other couple bought a new knife set after trying these out.) The pace was great, and everyone was really friendly. The staff and chef (Margot) were the best! My ONLY complaint was the portion size... we only got HALF portions. Which seems ridiculous considering it's nearly $165 per couple, and it would be nominal cost to buy just a little extra protein (we each got half of a breast). That is my only peeve. Simply one of the best overall kitchen stores out there....just nipping out Williams Sonoma. They have some really good, top end stuff, and some not so top end stuff. What is troubling is that many of their seemingly "top end" items are made in China! Now I don't mind paying for great quality cooking toys that are made in: the USA, France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and even Japan. But China? It's poor quality and will NOT last yet they charge you as if it was made in France. Ok, enough ranting. I DO love Sur La Table because they DO sell stuff made in the aforementioned countries! I bought my entire Revol (Made in France) Bakeware here, and this bakeware is THE BEST! Super even cooking and superb quality. It wasn't cheap but nothing of that quality is. They have a great knife selection, and so many gadgets and gizmos that will make your head spin! But again, make sure you look to see where this stuff is made...... Yes I AM a Fan of Sur La Table! For all things cooking, Sur La Table is pretty awesome. Can it be expensive? Sure, but they carry those pricey brands that are similarly priced at other retail outlets. Le Creuset, Cuisinart, Wusthof, Vitamix, etc. I don't really cook, but Sur La Table almost inspired me to do so. I'm especially fond of checking out the section of various fun-colored spatulas, whisks, mixing spoons and such. I can lose myself as well as the sense of time when I set foot in Sur La Table. They have anything and everything you never even imagined. Tiny gadgets, huge gadgets, gadgets that you dont even need cause you can accomplish the same thing by being resourceful in the kitchen (like I do) They are very interesting to look at though. Its quite expensive - $8.99 for a medium sized cookie cutter??? It wasnt even lined with gold! You'll even come across really cute things you will never use, like I did. I bought two sets of six tiny forks with 2 prongs, they were very pretty and fancy looking, and werent cheap either. Unfortunately I got to used them once, when I served melon and watermelon balls, and that was 3 years ago! So be careful and buy what you NEED not what you desire. However, I did buy a bunch of other things that I do use, and I love. Im still a fan of this cooking lover's paradise, I kill time here while my shopping buddies rack up more debt in stores like Michael Kors and the like. read more

Chief Meredith Suggs was a delight and her instruction was so easy to follow. We took the British Tea Time Favorites class. They have water and coffee available to start along with your recipe package, which you don't need since they give you all the ingredients and take you step-by-step through the process. You work in teams of 4 so it is a great event for couples to do together. We really enjoyed what we learned and as we said Chief Meredith was so personable and knowledgeable. We made so much food that they gave us paper plates to take some away. Towards the end things seemed a little rush since we were running out of time, but we had such a good time we are thinking we will try it again. A fellow classmate did let us know that the classes sometimes go on sale so be on the lookout and the date night classes you can bring your own bottle of wine, which is always a plus. read more

Fancy kitchen store...so fancy, they don't even pronounce the "le" on "TabLE." Even if I pronounced it wrong, I felt right at home and instantly added a million things to my wish list. The sell everything for your kitchen you could imagine! My husband and I were joking while walking around and wondered if they sell dehydrators.
