He quoted me a reasonable price and could accommodate me soon. Sam came to do the job. We put new batteries in the timer. But it didn't seem to be working properly. Sam said that not only was it not working properly, but that it wasn't an outdoor clock. Said we should replace it. Of course I was stressed at something not working and really stressed at the thought of what it would cost to replace. Sam looked at a price list from his supplier and said that a clock for 2 zones was only $125. Ok, not terrible. But how many hundreds and hundreds was the installation going to cost? He said "I came to get your system going for the season. I have to do whatever it takes to do that. There's no extra fee for that." I thought that I couldn't passably be hearing correctly. No extra cost? He and his assistant went and got the new timer and came back. But he said he wanted to mount it inside rather than where the old one was, outside my house. He didn't have a drill long enough to go through the wall to run the wire from the sprinkler system to the timer. So, came back after the weekend and did it. I did have to pay for the new timer and another small part that had burned out. But as far as labor, not a penny more than the original price to turn on the system! That is unheard-of these days! Just overall seemed like a good guy. We got a very fair estimate. His wife, the office secretary, was very good with walking me through the process with National Grid, as well as the paperwork process for the rebates. The gas conversion itself was quick and seamless. It is clear they've done this many, many times. Richie was not there. There were a large group of men who came in to do the job who never really introduced themselves. Honestly, more like a much of boys. Most were not very friendly, but I assume it's just because they're young. I had as issue with a sink clogging up the night before the conversion and when I asked them about it the day of (since they're plumbers) they were able to fix it for me which I really appreciate. When the project was done and I gave him a check, the guy in charge seemed annoyed saying how he's got to pay his team in cash, etc. He had stated my husband said we were going to paid cash. And that if I am to pay check now, he'd add tax and charge for me the plumbing work (which obviously it's not like I expected it to be free). He was certainly getting irritated. I honestly felt at the time I didn't have any other choice - they want cash and want it right now... not my check. My husband wasn't home at the time (my husband later denied he said it was a cash deal nor does it say so in our paperwork) so I just shlepped my newborn with me in the dead of the February winter to the bank while they waited for me at the house. It was just a weird situation. Their professionalism can definitely be something of a concern. However they get the job done and they're actually good. And the price is right. I have a warranty through AWRUSA that covers both my in-house plumbing and exterior lines, and when I discovered a leak in my basement tied to a crack in the main drain line, I knew it was going to be a complicated situation. A technician first came out to assess the problem and quickly realized that the crack extended beyond the interior wall and into the exterior portion of the line. At that point, Allied All City Inc. was assigned through AWRUSA, and they recommended a full replacement of the damaged section, which fortunately was covered under my warranty. The team arrived early and started around 8:30 AM. Before any digging began, they had someone come out to properly mark the gas lines, which I appreciated since it showed a strong focus on safety and doing things the right way. The job itself was not easy. It required several hours of digging and breaking through concrete to access and remove the damaged pipe. They explained that there really was no shortcut or temporary fix, and given how much I had already been relying on makeshift solutions just to hold things together, I agreed that a full replacement was the best long-term solution. Throughout the entire process, the crew was communicative and professional. They took the time to walk me through each step, explaining what they were doing and why. When they removed the damaged pipe, they even showed me the extent of the deterioration, which helped me fully understand how serious the issue had become. My water main started leaking in my basement and I had to have the service shut off at the street…read more I call Allied last night, and they sent Juan by to survey my job and they provided me a price to replace my main from the curb to the meter in the basement. They arrived this morning with 4 men and all sort of heavy equipment. Oh so grateful for their drilling equipment so they didn't have to tear up my new driveway and walk installed last year. They ran the new main, ,and replumbed everything in my basement. While the original quote shocked me, you certainly get what you pay for. It turned. out to be a bargin. Any other contractor - I'd be having my sidewalk, walkway and front porch redone. I highly recommend this company.
