I did not expect myself to be getting a burger in the Acores but after hearing about Suplexio I knew I had to try one The line was almost around the block when we arrived but their system of seating and ordering made it move very quickly. We ordered a bottle of wine along with the Azorean and Imperado burgers. The Azorean with pineapple compote was good but not my favorite - the English muffin style bread was my favorite part. The Imperado was more like a classic bacon cheeseburger. You could tell the meat is of course fresh and locally sourced, but otherwise a pretty standard burger. Stopped at Suplexio on Friday night at 740 pm, and it was packed. Had some trouble parking, but arrived at the restaurant around 8pm. Waited 30 minutes for a table inside the restaurant. However, our order was taken outside while we waited. Once seated, our burgers came out within five minutes. We ordered two burgers, Imperadors. I added grilled mushrooms to the caramelized onions, cheese and Suplexio sauce. Burger came medium rare as ordered, as did my partner's burger. Fries or a side salad came with the burgers. We left at 9 pm or so, and more hungry customers were waiting outside the restaurant. Would definitely return, but come earlier to avoid the crowd. read more

Overall it was okay. I think I was expecting amazing from all the reviews. I asked for well done but it came out medium and my friend's medium was rare. She liked it though. I got the azorean one with pineapple. It was very sweet and the bread was good but really rich all together. The meat too was falling apart and a little too moist for me. I didn't really like the texture. Definitely didn't taste like a griddled burger from the US. Which I think is fine, that's not what this place is but just wanted to note that. The fries were cold and bland. My friend liked the walnut cheese burger and to be honest hers looked much better than mine with toppings piled high. I just had a little dollop of the pineapple jam on my bread. The lemonade was good. The waiter had a bit of a rude attitude in his voice but overall it was a fine experience. Suplexio is amazing! This is the best hamburger I've eaten in a very long time! With a wide variety of custom burgers as well as fun appetizers you can see why Suplexio is so popular. In fact it's so popular that you need to be waiting at the door of the restaurant 15 minutes before opening to ensure that you get one of the 6-7 tables available. If you're not there at opening it's best to come back in an hour or so because the place literally fills up in seconds. Because they're such a small operation they really put in a lot of time and effort to every burger. I had an unusual concoction, a hamburger with walnuts and honey, it was too weird to pass up. We saw a few people order a burger served with spicy Doritos among other things, there are definitely some fun craft burgers here, I regret not going twice but the meals are so filling! This place is a must try for the Ponta Delgada food scene. read more

Without any toppings, they would have still been amazing. They were juicy and beefy and so much better than anything I've had in the USA. The options for toppings were fun and a little funky. I am a burger purist, so I went with the option with just cheese and aioli... I think the Simplexio? My friend got the El Chapo. Both were amazing. Ok, first of all, be there to get into line no later than 6:45. They open the doors at 7 and whoever gets in there first gets the seats (this is one time it helps to be a slightly pushy American). There are 8 or so varieties of burgers with different accoutrements including 2 vegetarian options. My favorite was the simple cheese, lettuce and tomato which literally melted in my mouth. The meat burgers are a combination of pork and beef and some secret ingredient obviously. Everyone should try the crisp out of the fryer onion rings.
