Do not waste your time. If you weigh over 240 fully dressed they will not allow you to ride. Plus they are expensive. If you want to ride horses you can ride them in Texas for a lot cheaper and a lot longer. Plus they have horses that are built and capable to withstand your heavier set adult male. Came with five people and my husband who has been loosing weight. 260 fully clothed with Steele toe boots, jeans and enough in the wallet to weigh anyone down. The one staff member who I spoke with was cordial and descent but I will not bring my business back there ever and will deter anyone from going. Tourist trap. My hubby and I had a such an amazing trail ride on Smoke and vaquero who were both very good boys and really took care of us over rocky terrain. Hank is the man! The definition of a true cowboy of the Wild West. He's a great conversationalist who was very in tune with his horses when they were huffing and puffing, and stopped often for breaks. Jumped through 100 hoops to book this a few days ago. Drove all the way out here (over an hour) to be told it was too hot. Which I completely understand - (I guess they couldn't look at a calendar 4 days ago?) Guy said he left me a voice mail. But of course I have every voice mail recorded and there was never one left. Riding here was my wife and I's favorite part of our weeklong vacation in Phoenix, Sedona, and Jerome. Hank was our guide and he was a really cool dude! He knew a ton about the desert and led an amazing tour with hilarious jokes and great facts on the area. We did the three hour tour and the time just flew by. The horses were great as well! I rode Vaquero and my wife rode Smoke and they were fantastic. Vaquero was such a well trained horse and was a perfect match up for me. The horses liked to run down and up out of the ditches and that was a lot of fun! We saw quail, desert cottontails, and a roadrunner at the end hunting a lizard...pretty cool! We love Hank! We're still talking about him a week later! We want to come back and do the full day....maybe 2? in the Superstitions with him maybe sometime next year. So much fun and I think the best way to explore the desert. Talked to the owner afterward in the gift shop afterward and he was cool guy as well. read more

I'm an equestrian for 50 years and when we arrived to see if they had a trail ride availability without a reservation, the skinny young girl looked at me and said ,"well how much do you weigh and how tall are you?" I answered honestly at 5'4 and 185lbs. She then told me I was too heavy to ride!! WTF??? But if I was taller it would be ok....!!! It's bc of my height weight ratio, according to the website she pointed me too!!! Again.. WTF??? I am an experienced rider and yet was turned away for being too fat??? This is nonsense and has no real foundation as a rule for riding a horse. They can accommodate a rider that weighs 240 lbs if they are 6 foot tall, but not me??? Insulting and bullsh't.... We arrived on time and the staff was running behind and acting like we were the weird ones for arriving exactly when they told us. The staff was being short with us and they were racist as the guide leader Denny tried to correct my mom's English on the ride in front of everyone. Unless you're an experienced horseback rider, would not recommend. Staff was rude and condescending, even when you try to make small talk or be friendly. No help in learning to ride or navigate a horse. You sign a waiver, which I understand but staff had no interest in helping you to learn about the horses or riding. They only have you sign a form that if something bad happens or you are injured while riding, it's on you. I would not recommend for beginners or inexperienced riders. read more

I read good things about this place and the woman on the phone was very nice. Pros: location close to other tourist areas in Apache Junction. Cons: The owner had a surly attitude and no one was very friendly except the young woman who booked us. I told her when I was booking that my grandson and I would be riding and that we had ridden before. Partly my fault for not asking if they had a mounting block because I haven't been anyplace that didn't have one. When I asked if they could help me they said no. "If you can't get on yourself you can't ride." (Well sorry, I'm not a wrangler, I'm a grandma looking for an hour ride.) It was mostly the rude attitude as well as not having a mounting block where I could get my arthritic hips over that horse. They were so nasty that my grandson and I left in tears. There is absolutely no reason for that. We ended up going to Don Donnelly Stables where they couldn't do enough for us--and they were cheaper. We had an incredibly beautiful ride and they acted happy to see us rather than acting as if they were doing us a favor by taking our money. As I was talking to other people, they told me that this ranch has a reputation for being rude. I wish I'd known that sooner. read more

I try to go horseback riding on all my outdoor vacations. I picked OK corral since it had good reviews and has a convenient location next to the Goldfield attraction in Apache Junction. I'm rating this on customer service, horses, and scenery. Honestly, being an experienced rider, I've had better rides. My horse walked like he was about to drop from exhaustion. The ride was strictly nose-to-tail without much variety for the experienced rider. If you are a beginner or apprehensive, you'd probably like this ride since it doesn't require any skill. The lead horseman told the usual history stories to the group. He ran a tight ship, though, barking at me to hold the reins while taking a photo (like the horse was about to bolt?) and turning my horse slightly to back away from the horse in front. The best part of the ride was the great scenery in the shadow of Superstition Mountain and amongst the plants and cactus just ready to bloom. The hour and a half went quickly. So my rating for the OK corral is just okay. Not bad, just not anything exceptional. read more

Oh my gosh we had so much fun on our trail ride! It was my cousins first time on a horse, or near a horse, and everyone was so sweet and helpful, he absolutely loved it. We did a 2 hour ride with great views of Lost Dutchman and the Superstitions, really out in the wilderness with no one else around. Our guide was a former Mesa PD officer who's name I can't remember, but he was so nice and attentive and led the perfect trail with just enough conversation and plenty of time to just take in the views. The horses were also super sweet and very well behaved. It was such a great day, and right by Goldfield Ghost Town for dinner after All in all definitely 5 stars!! I will be back again. read more

I've been on trail rides with a couple other places in Arizona, but so far O.K. Corral has been my favorite. Depending on where you're located it may be a little out of the way, but let me tell you the views are definitely worth the drive. For 1 hour and about $55 dollars you get to enjoy a gorgeous trail lined with cacti and the Superstition Mountains. Our guide was great, he taught us all about different plants and wildlife we passed along the way. That His sarcastic sense of humor kept us thoroughly entertained the whole trip. I've been riding a couple times, but by no means would call myself an expert and I felt completely safe on my horse the whole time. Do yourself a favor and swing by next door's Goldfield ghost town after your ride for some more fun! read more

Very excited to ride the well trained, behaved lovely horses they own for their unexperienced riders. While visiting The Ghost town nearby, we chose to experience riding a horse. They were able to accomodate us on the last minute. One hour (that felt like two lol) of history, cactus, plants, and mountain learning lessons included with the ride. The horses were well cared for. Healthy and seemingly very well loved. They loved being pet. The wranglers told us about their personality traits and we got to witness them on the ride. The wrangler leading the group taught us about the plant life and some history of the area. For our 1 hour tour, there were two gorgeous spots for pictures and the wrangler took the pics for us so that we could stay on our horses. Great customer service. The gift shop had really cute handmade gifts and small snack bars/drinks. Small side note that shouldn't really matter, but just FYI... the wranglers were pretty studly. HIGHLY recommend. read more

Kudos to Ron and his crew! I couldn't have been more pleased with our 3-generation ride the day after Christmas with my parents, my three kids (8yo twin girls and 10yo son) and my boyfriend and his son (12). Having owned and competed on some very nice horses (before the kids came along) I was very impressed with the mounts this crew had; very solid and quiet mounts for the adults, but even moreso impressed with the steeds for the kids. These are my twins on the ADORABLE "CJ" and "Miss Molly," and believe my son rode "Vegas." I wouldn't hesitate to own these critters if I had my own barn! The guide was a jokester too so my kids enjoyed the banter along the trail. An added benefit was the gift shop where we found some fun things and mementos to bring home from our trip. My family enjoyed our horseback riding at this stable. The horses are very well kept and in great condition. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. The scenery is amazing. Guide was very nice. My one major issue, that did not make me happy, is their website states they accept MC/Visa, the owner, who was in the office, says they do, but "prefers" cash or debit. I offered the credit card and he still continued to push the issue about what he preferred to the point where if I insisted on using my credit card, and I got more push-back, it would ruin my total experience. Can't say enough good things about this ranch. My boyfriend and I own a horse, I've been riding for about 7 years and my boyfriend had only ridden once before in his entire life and the horses they put us on were perfect for our different levels of experience. Definitely incredibly safe! They are broke, but not dead broke meaning you don't have a boring horse that trudges along, these horses are incredibly happy and love to look around and enjoy the time with you. Our guide was Frank and he was absolutely fabulous, we look forward to coming out every year if possible to have rides with Frank. All staff members are immensely friendly and the horses are very well cared for! The views you will see are absolutely marvelous and the knowledge of these folks on the wildlife and plant life in the area is great. We were in town visiting from Wisconsin and we decided to go horseback riding last minute because of an advertisement of another place on a road we drove past. However, that place was closed because of the weather and they were rude, so whatever. We looked up different places and found this one, and I'm so glad we did! My boyfriend and I were first time riders and everybody was so nice and accommodating! On the trails I felt safe and the tour guide was so friendly and reassuring. I try to go horseback riding at least once or twice a year. It's especially fun when we have people visiting from out of town. The OK Corral has by far the best and most interesting chaperoned rides I've experienced in Arizona. I've been a few other places but they honestly don't compare. The cowboys here are sassy, which is how cowboys are supposed to be right? Ok, maybe sassy isn't exactly the right word but you know what I mean. They know their stuff about the horses and the area and they're authentic. This was an awesome experience for my wife and I and our 8 year old daughter and her 9 year old cousin. My 8 year old daughter had been wanting to ride a horse for as long as she could remember, but she never had the chance until now. Making an appointment was easy and the tour guide was amazing. After our daughter got on the horse she was initially a little scared and wasn't quite sure how to get the horse to stay on the path and stop feeding on bushes. The guide recognized this and was able to tie her horse to his so all she had to do was enjoy the ride. From then on she loved it and so did I. I personally hadn't ridden a horse since I was a kid but this was well worth it. We paid for a 30 minute experience and after we got off the horses it was closer to 45 mins, which was just perfect! We will definitely be back when were in the area! read more
