I got a groupon and had to call to schedule my pick up and arrival time. This gave me reassurance that i had some form of transportation, since it was gonna be my first time and alone in the city. Their customer service was friendly and booked my incoming and outgoing to la guardia airport. The gong show started when you arrive! I arrived on the second floor and i couldnt figure out what to do from their instructions. I went up and down on the elevator at least two times with my large suitcase. FINALLY I DECIDED TO EXPLORE THE MAIN FLOOR. At some point i finally went outside to a supershuttle that has been sitting there. I knocked on the window and asked if he was picking me up and of course he glanced over his paper and flat out said no! So i came to the customer service and asked and finally i got help. I wish their instructions would say GO TO THE GROUND LEVEL AND FIND CUSTOMER SERVICE TO DISPATCH YOUR DRIVER. The sucky part is there are no benches anywhere to sit and wait. Be prepared to wait 30 minutes. Finally a driver comes in and the dispatcher had to beg him to take me. The driver agrees then with a franctic. Drived in a franctic which honestly, didnt bother since its new york. My pick up was 30 minutes late. Get the app to track your driver it will help. Got a bagel and waited. When i got to the airport i tipped the guy at that point he looked at me and said THAT'S IT YOU DIDNT PAY FULL PRICE(cause of groupon) AND YOU ONLY TIP ME THIS!!! I was in total shock. $13 per person coming from La Guardia airport seems like a good deal because it is, considering a taxi cab would probably run you $40 going into Manhattan. We didn't have any reservations but the friendly Fawzia of the Ground Transportation desk at the airport called the shuttle for us. After only 10 mins of waiting, we had our shuttle guy take our bags and drive us into the city. We had to cirlce the airport twice, to pick up more passengers. We sat in a little bit of traffic going into Manhattan and after coming from LGA (Queens) we went through the upper east side, ran through midtown and finally reached our hotel in Chelsea after dropping off couple of passengers. An hour and a half has passed from pick up to drop off. Wow, that is a long time. If you're in a hurry and have only a 2 days or so in NYC, I would skip the shuttle and figure out the bus system or take a cab. read more

Now I usually check yelp reviews before going anywhere, but somehow I didn't with Super Shuttle, and oh how I wish I did! For a lack of better words, "Super Shuttle sucks!" I mean, do I really have to wait over an hour for my 'scheduled' reservation?! I understand that the van has to pick up others from different terminals, but geesh! Oh let's not forget that they have to drop off all the other people to their hotel as well. It took me 3 hours to get from JFK to my NY hotel in Manhattan. The ground transportation welcome center staff could not have been nicer and more helpful, it was super shuttle who was f'd up. I checked in at 6:30, at first I was getting helpful texts "your driver's location is here". Then at 7:30 received a text "your trip is complete". Uh, no, I'm still at the airport morons. The JFK welcome center lady got on the horn to ask them WTF and they redirected the driver. He finally shows up at 8pm but then we still need to pick up more people in and around the airport. Leaving the airport he cusses out a civilian driver for blocking our exit. That was actually cool. When we get to my hotel he has no record of my prepayment online which included a $3 tip. He proceeds to argue with me even though I have the printed out web receipt. He has to call it in. Meanwhile a whole van load of customers is waiting to get dropped off. From Newark to Manhattan, I traded my soul to save money. $17 inclusive (no tolls) + tip versus $60 + tolls ($17) + tip for a yellow cab taxi. Sounds like a no-brainer, right? I waited 50 minutes from the time my luggage was placed in the back of the van, until the time it left the airport. I was originally quoted 25 mins, and even that was way below my expectation...I guess I am used to much more active and frequent shuttles. As it turned out, the driver MUST have a minimum of 5 passengers before he would leave. If you are passenger #5, you likely would say "Oh, so quick and easy! I rate it 4 (or 5) stars!". If I could give less than one star I would. My husband and I scheduled a transport to the airport and the shuttle did not arrive despite three phone calls to customer service. The customer service agent kept assuring us it was on its way but it was not ... had we waited longer we risked missing our flight back home. We also were not impressed with the extensive wait at the airport for the pre-purchased shuttle to take us to the hotel. On a particularly hot day we waited in a line in the heat for approximately 30 minutes. After paying for a private taxi we would like a refund for the transport that never arrived. I landed in JFK and I was told I had to wait 45 minutes since they're soooo busy. I asked if I can get a refund and I was told I have to call a number in order to do that. Since I have no time to lose nor do I have the patience to wait 45 minutes when I'm hungry, I ended up taking a cab. Thanks to yoga, I was able to keep my cool. The trip from my hotel to the airport though was fantastic. I was picked up early and the driver and I were talking about sports the whole time, yay! He wasn't driving like a maniac and I actually fell asleep. It seems like SuperShuttle's problem is picking up from the airport which I don't get. If you are broke and don't mind the possibility of getting A) bed bugs, and B) whiplash then I say YES super shuttle is the way to go! However, if you value your life, and have an extra $5, you can take a large bus from 34th street, or for another $10-$15 you can take a cab. I would splurge if I were you. You'll get to any airport faster, save your life, and won't have to wait for them to try to find parking as they circle the block you live on 4 times. I have had the worst SS moments, from 6 near death experiences, to the driver asking for my number as he tells me it's totally cool if I sit in the front seat, to missing my flight, to sitting next to "man who refused to bathe" for 45 minutes as we circled the city looking for an address that didn't seem to make any sense. Wow, the return trip from JFK was a completely different experience than the trip going the other direction. At first, I was quite excited about being able to check in online, but that was where the fun ended. It was partly my fault - I put down the wrong terminal because I'd flown in Delta domestically, and figured that I could choose the terminal based off of the descriptors provided online. Wrong. Anyway, by the time I figured that out, the shuttle that was supposed to get me was already on its way. At least according to the GPS tracker online. After waiting around for the not so helpful welcome center staff to help, I called the SuperShuttle dispatchers from the airport phone and told them to change my pick up location - that was fine, and I was still going to be picked up by the same shuttle. Great! By this time, it had already been about an hour since I'd checked in, and I'd waited 40 minutes longer than their 15-20 minute quote. So, the driver (who I only found out was the driver later) arrived and called off a list of names - which I was NOT on. He was also not wearing anything that indicated that he was employed by SuperShuttle, so I walked off to call the dispatcher again. I was on the phone with the dispatcher when the same driver returned and called my name. As we were walking off - and then again when we were in the shuttle (in front of a shuttle full of passengers) - he kept saying that he had called my name multiple times and come back to find me multiple times...but I was standing right at the welcome center so I would have heard him if he'd called my name. Ugh. The driver tried to be as fast and efficient with the rest of the pickups as possible, but I still didn't make it home until 2.5 hours after I landed at JFK. He also definitely gave some attitude to other customers on the shuttle. I understand that his job is stressful, especially when everyone is demanding attention and a speedy ride home, but I thought it was quite rude of him. To break it down: To JFK - definitely 5 stars (no headache, door-to-door service) From JFK - 0-1 star (terribly long wait, poor communication) Average of 2 stars. I called in a shuttle to get to the airport from my friend's place in Washington Heights around 11pm for a 4:30am shuttle. They agreed to send someone out, so I tried to get a little sleep. Around 2am, someone calls to say that their single solitary van broke down so they can't send anyone. Like they don't have dozens of other vans to send. I had to take the subway and a bus to get to LaGuardia which was a lovely experience at 4 in the morning in Harlem. So logically, I asked for a refund on the transaction that looked like this "SUPERSHUTTLE EXECUCA 800 05/31SUPERSHUT". After two months, they still haven't replied to my emails or refunded the money. As we arrive at Newark at 11pm the shuttle didn't come pick us up until 1:00am, we arrived at our destination at 2am. In my recent trip to NYC landing in JFK, I had to wait 45 minutes for a pick up from calling on a scheduled pick up. At least you can wait inside the terminal instead of outside where someone will come to call your name near the call center. I had to call twice and there were other drivers coming in an calling names but brushed you off. It's economical about half that of a cab or car service but you have to go from terminal to terminal to pick people up and then wait for others to get dropped off. It took another hour to get to Manhattan. Customer service wasn't professional at all. When I called to re-schedule my flight time, they were "whatever" and didn't send me a confirmation when I asked for it and so I had to call again. You could also hear other people in the background having personal conversations. read more

Unlike other reviewers here of having to wait for hours on end for a pickup, I had the exact opposite experience. I scheduled a pickup the afternoon before my 6am flight out of LaGuardia. I was told that my pickup time would be from 2:35-2:55am. Yikes! Ok...understandable I suppose since there are others to pick up along the way. My buzzer rings at 2:20am. The driver is here. I tell him I will be down as I frantically throw on some makeup and gather my belongings. I get another buzz at 2:30 am - this time threatening to leave me because he has other passengers to pick up. Um ok. Homie, you still aren't within the given timeframe! I race down the stairs and go all the way around the van to let him know I'm there....to which he greets me with rolling his eyes. I say, "you are early", to which he replies, "I have others to pick up", to which I reply "My pickup timeframe was 2:35-2:55am"! I get in the van, he prints me out a receipt, and what does the board time say?? 2:35am! AND YOU KNOW HE CHECKED ME IN THE MOMENT I MADE IT DOWN. He picks up the other passengers and we make it to LGA at 3:30am. The security gates don't even open until 4:30am. So I don't want to hear any excuses of other passengers almost missing their flight because i was "just on time". Operator #9537, you need to take a lesson on customer service or get a new job! I have used Super Shuttle in the the past in Los Angeles, Detroit, and in Orange County; they have been a go to shuttle service provider, however this time they feel flat. Normally I will even tip prior to service as my experiences have been nothing short of on time and on point. However, this experience was horrid. It is below 0 degrees and I was left eating outside for over 45mins waiting for this lazy driver. I called customer service twice, after waiting the 15 overlap I was told 10mins. Then after 20mins later, I called again and was told 2-3 mins, then about 15ish mins later he shows. No apologies. So as we finally hit the road he gets a phone call and spends the entire shuttle service on the phone and as we arrived at JFK he finally realized, oh I don't know where anyone is going. Then he starts asking me which terminal he should go to for Delta, I told him domestic and looked so damn confused. We got there ok, no points for this service. On my trip from Newark Airport to SoHo New York, Super Shuttle received * * * * four stars. On my trip back from SoHo New York to the Newark Airport, Super Shuttle received * * two stars. My trip from the airport, as karma always dictates, I was the 1st picked up and the last dropped off, for the longest of destinations, but it only took about 1 hour or less and was a fairly smooth ride. My trip from SoHo to the Newark Airport, booked at 12pm noon for a 4pm flight on a Friday giving me 4 hours, still took a bit over 2 hours to get from pick-up to destination. Even the driver was questioning the scheduling dispatcher for booking so many pick-ups all over town with traffic delays galore. I think Super Shuttle is hit or miss, and depends if you're trying to save time or save money. It's anywhere from $20-40 I think from "point A to point B" destinations in most cities, and if you book it based upon your flights, in most metropolitan cities you need about a 3 hour window to be picked up prior to your departure time as the cushion to not miss your flight. It's better than most taxi cab options in terms of comfort and cost as well as timing to a degree. I'm not sure if I'm a fan of UBER or not since it's not seemingly regulated to the point where I'm comfortable with the system (especially after hearing about the story of the girl in Los Angeles kidnapped in early June by an Uber driver), so am reluctant to try it. read more

Negatives: -very late. Was late to pick me up by 45 minutes and then ended up getting to airport over an hour later than we were supposed to -fairly expensive (spent $40, compared to $15 if I took the train) Bottom line: I think it all depends on your driver, plus how much time you have to spare. If the driver is nice, with good customer service, it makes a big difference. It was around midnight and we had reserved a SuperShuttle to take her to her hotel in Manhattan. Nobody showed up. We called and were told that there were no shuttles available. Nobody warned us in advance of this and she sat for 90 minutes in the Newark airport alone (in the public area because she had to leave the secured area to get her luggage). Finally, someone who sounded reasonable told me that she should take a taxi and they would reimburse of for the cost. That turned out to be over $100. Guess what? They lied. We had a good experience both times. The cab ride would have cost a fortune. Under $20 a person. Just make sure to look out for the shuttle and be on time when they say to be there otherwise, they will leave. They are on a time schedule. The ride from airport to hotel wasn't bad- it is NY afterall. The ride to the airport from the hotel, took 2 hours but their was lots of traffic and a few stops. The reservations agent was friendly and also knew what time we needed to leave to get to the airport. Not only did I have to wait 30 minutes before we got picked up at the JFK airport, once we did get picked up we were packed into the van like sardines (with no air conditioning) and it took THREE HOURS to get to my hotel in the city. Good god. My blood boils every time I think about this experience. And even though this review is 5 months overdue, not to worry, the details are not in the least bit hazy. My flight from Sky Harbor to JFK was delayed 5 hours due to some massive storms in the northeast, so my flight that was supposed to land at 8PM didn't land til 1AM. I called ahead of time to make sure Super Shuttle was okay with that, and they said no worries, they'd dispatch a van when I called to say I was at JFK. So far so good. Until the shuttle arrived. The driver seemed cheery enough, considering it was 2 in the morning. The van had 6 passengers on board, not including me and this other girl getting on at this terminal. In broken English, he told the two of us that we were "two skinny girls" and both of us could fit in the front seat. This was a rather strange request, but we complied only to regret it 10 seconds later. We kept telling him to let us out so we could move to the back of the van, where there was plenty of room for us to sit comfortably, but he ignored our complaints and instead sneered at us, asking if we "felt safe" with his driving. Honestly, I felt harrassed. The rest of the passengers were not amused either. Most of them had waited at least 2 hours for the Super Shuttle to show up, others had to direct the driver to their stop, even arguing with the driver where they wanted to be dropped off. Midway through, the driver even answered a call, threatening to quit his job. I even overheard him rudely demand a tip from one of the passengers. Feel free to correct me if you disagree, but this sort of unprofessional behavior does not deserve a tip, and I would have gladly told him so if I hadn't already tipped online. If I had known that this was what I had to put up with, the harrassment and the rudeness, not to mention arriving at my hotel at 4AM in the morning (with an appointment at 7AM and my body stuck in Mountain Time), I would have gladly paid an extra 30 bucks, stood in line for what probably would have been 3 hours, and opted for a cab. read more

We arrived at the airport expecting the shuttle to be at the airport or in route to pick us up, after a long day of travel we had the airport service call the shuttle and they said they were 45 min out..... when the airport service put in our destination the total came up as $21.78, we were charged $43 Through New York Pass discount! SuperShuttle provides good service in general which made me gain their trust. However, I had an awful experience with them on 9/5/18 while traveling from JFK to Manhattan. When I arrived at the van escorted by the driver, the first two seating rows were filled. I was happy to squeeze in and occupy the third row, and I was SEATED ALONE in that row. During the transit, I used my phone a little bit but it soon died. I, therefore, left it lying beside me. Inadvertently I dozed off due to HEAVY JETLAG as I was traveling from India. When I woke up, I found myself already at my drop off point and the driver started yelling 'Who's stop is this?' in a rude manner. We tried super shuttle shared rides many times. Initially it was fine for family relatives who find New York confusing. Then the ride kept getting longer and longer. Average ride from JFK is now at least 3-4 hours. Got on the car at 3pm, not at lower Manhattan at 7pm. The car trip from JFK to Manhattan is officially longer than the fight from Chicago. I believe there are not enough vans to go around. So they have to drop off people all over Manhattan. Last time my mother was dropped off about 4-5 blocks away from my home address at night in the financial district, which caused further delay in terms of locating her. We had one additional time when the pickup and requested address did not match. Customer service was not helpful and requested to charge me additional fee for their error. Sigh. What a mess it was using this service both coming and going to LaGuardia airport. Upon going to the airport, the driver was fifteen minutes late coming to my house. There was another passenger with me which I assumed was going to LaGuardia as well. No! JFK!!! First off, why the f--k would you pick up two fares who aren't even going to the SAME AIRPORT?!!! Of course, the driver goes to JFK and now, already short on time, jumps on the Van Wyck to take me to LaGuardia. Anyone and everyone from NYC knows to avoid the Van Wyck at all costs because it's a 24/7 traffic jam. Bumper to bumper traffic and I made it with minutes to spare. The driver noticing my frustration tells me to calm down. Seriously? I could've missed my flight! Coming home was just as much of a nightmare. I waited over an hour for the shuttle to pick me up who then proceeded to take me some weird route to get home when he could've just taken the Grand Central eastbound. No, northbound on the Van Wyck which was bumper to bumper as always to the Cross Island. He went north just to go back south. My flight landed at JFK at 5:50 am, and I called SuperShuttle once I had my luggage (as per the reservation instructions, because yes, I had an advanced reservation) at 6:10 am. I wasn't picked up at my terminal until 6:55 am, despite being told it would be a 15-30 minute wait time by the dispatcher once I arrived. It is now 9:15 am and I am not home yet. I have watched the driver take side streets, pick bizarre routes and navigate into unnecessary traffic without checking his GPS for the last two hours. We waited almost 10 minutes to pay cash going through the tunnel because, for some ungodly reason, these shuttles don't have EZPass. There are 2 other passengers who still need to be dropped off before me. I live in Hell's Kitchen, and we've already had drops in FiDi/downtown and SoHo, and the driver is now lost in midtown. He dropped the last passenger off a block from his destination because the driver drove past the address and shrugged as if to say, "Close enough." The drops are allegedly arranged by neighborhood, though it has become clear that by neighborhood, SuperShuttle means "the island of Manhattan" and "other." Every minute in this shuttle is a new fresh hell. Get a cab, get an Uber, take the train, walk. Anything else. The extra $ is worth the 2.5 hours of your life. read more

I understand it's a 'shared' ride, but GOOD business dictates that even if u have ONE pickup you would honor it after CONFIRMATION!! This is so unacceptable! I would not wish supershuttle on my worst enemy. I decided to use a super shuttle because it sounded a lot more convenient than taking the train (which would take about 40 minutes) due to the fact it picks up directly from the airport and drops off to your selected destination. However, what I did not know was that the shuttle would not leave unless there were other passengers. I phoned in again at 45 minutes after checking in because they give you the option to track your vehicle and my shuttle has not moved for over 30 minutes. I have been waiting for about 50 minutes after my initial check-in (I will update on the total time later) and have yet to be picked up. I could've been home by now and have an extra $20 in my pocket. There is still going to be a 30+ min ride. There is no where to sit to wait for your shuttle as well. I have been leaning against this rail for so long I have lost circulation. I usually do not write reviews, but SuperShuttle has left me a waiting duck; they're basically asking me to write this one. I have work early tomorrow morning and this has left me way behind schedule.. but you can't reverse time. read more

No ac in the van and they put my elderly husband and myself in the back of the van. It was over one hundred degrees. He went to out terminal last so our ride was an hour long. I was sick for the remainder of the day. The driver and passengers in front were the only ones who benefittI tried to call the company to complain but there is no one to talk with only an emailed form. Just horrible. I will never ride with them again In NYC the cab fare to the airport is only a few dollars more than super shuttles Rate. Why did I make the foolish decision to ride with them! Update It's now been three weeks since our terrible ride. I have not heard back from super shuttle despite two emails to them. They continue to tell me the only way to reach them is via email. I would totally give zero stars if I could. I reserved a pickup on Dec 14, 2017 and the driver never showed up. I was waiting outside of my apt building for half an hour like a fool. Keep in mind that there was snow outside. I never received any phone calls, emails or anything regarding my driver at all. I ended up having to take a $50 Uber ride to the airport instead, which resulted in me almost missing my flight to LA from NY. I've opened a total of 4 tickets with the company about the issue and about being charged for service that I never even received, but have heard absolutely nothing. No phone calls, no emails and clearly still no refund. Never will I use SuperShuttle again. They are complete frauds. Today marks Jan 10, 2018. Way to go guys. read more

My shuttle never showed. It was scheduled for 1am. When I called, I was on hold for a total of around 30 minutes. While on hold, I received a text that a yellow cab was picking me up. It did, an hour after my scheduled pickup. I've requested a refund but have not heard back. read more

Despite multiple attempts to contact super shuttle on the website and on socialmedia@supershuttle.net I have received NO response SINCE 3 WEEKS . All I keep hearing is that a case manager will get in touch but no one follows up. I plan to take serious legal action if I do not hear back from the company. We had requested for a pickup from under the residence as she had 3 pieces of heavy luggage for her international travel. Driver Khalid called prior to arrival and said she now needed to come outside the street (one full avenue walk) and he would not come under the building. The driver was extremely rude and threatened to leave without her if she dint come to the main street. With not enough time and no other choice, my mom had to request my sick father to help with luggage to make it in time for the pickup. My father with a severe cardiac history, experienced breathlessness and was close to fainting due to the fatigue and stress of lugging the suitcases. A couple passersby on the road witnessed the entire situation and helped my father regain consciousness. In seeing my fathers worsening condition my distressed mother refused to take the ride. The driver completely unmoved by the situation of seeing an elderly couple in distress offloaded the luggage and drove off. My complaint is on three counts - one, the violation of the last minute pickup location change per the drivers convenience; two, the rude, inconsiderate and almost inhumane behavior of the driver that could have led to the hospitalization of my father and three, the emotional trauma it caused both of them that almost resulted in the cancellation of their international trip.
