A mile or so (technically a couple of kilometers) from the Cliffs of Moher is the Stonecutters…read moreKitchen. A wonderfully picturesque bistro with spectacular views of the County Claire countryside along the Wild Atlantic Way. From the 100-year-old cottage that the restaurant is situated to the beautiful patio and deck around it, Stonecutters provides the ideal scenery if you're visiting the area when you want to enjoy some delicious cuisine. We started with a bottle of Sangiovese while I noshed on some homemade brown soda bread, which was divine with Irish butter. The seafood tagliatelle was delicious and creamy that I savored every bite between the mussels and prawns and squid. The banofee dessert was magical between the biscuit on the bottom topped with bananas and drizzled with caramel and topped with ice cream. Enjoying our meal amidst the glorious setting was equally as memorable, if not more. No pictures can do justice to just how breathtaking it is to enjoy a meal in such a beautiful setting. Stonecutters is an ideal choice to enjoy dinner that has endless amounts of scenery to enjoy a wonderful outdoor dining experience.

This has to be the place that coined the term "cozy" for real estate sales. Upon entering, you are…read morestanding next to the guest log book in the main dining room with around half a dozen tables & there's a "children's" dining room to the left: 3 tables, a high chair and a few toys. The bright yellow house, turned restaurant is easy to spot on the way to/from the Cliffs of Moher. You pull in to a small playground and a friendly dog roaming the grounds. This place is unusually kid-friendly, while not being child-centric, particularly given the size. By that, I mean, on entering the public toilet area, there is a nifty baby changing station - WITH supplies. Anyone who's had a child can relate this to a restroom having toilet paper! I found it to have very thoughtful touches like that, the special room & playground equipment - I also heard staff tell a patron that the kids get a toy to keep with their meal. I didn't view the kids menu, tho I heard a parent talking about some options with her child, including fish & every child's favorite fun food "spaghetti"! Adults were not forgotten- there were candles on the table and nicely plated meals and home-style options, with a lovely selection of wine and beet to choose from. The service was friendly and helpful- food was well seasoned and properly cooked: fingerling potatoes were crisp outside and tender inside. I wish we'd skipped attempting the cafe at the cliffs all together & just started here!!

Could I rank this lower than one star?? I would. For those of you that won't read a long review…read more.. here's the short story: service sucked, they gaslighted me when they got my order wrong, wildly inefficient in ordering made you pay BEFORE the meal and then also kicked us out after we told them their signage for their specials was wrong. Avoid, leave, run... don't go. So many better places to go, I had a large group and none of us will ever go back. First of all... sat down to order which took 20m. They got our drink order, then came back and took our food order, THEN came back to make us pay for our food individually which meant she had to get our food order AGAIN! Took 20m to just get our order. Then, they had 3 specials on the menu... none of which they had available. One special hand out of a burger they don't make, a hot wings challenge they don't do anymore but have signs for and a sign out front advertising a burger they don't have available. I ordered a chicken sandwich and it came out fried. Which was not on the menu. Then they told me the chef made it right and that everyone loves it fried so I should just eat it. When I asked for something different she said they would charge me for it. Another friend had her burger and it made her stomach upset for 3hrs afterwards. We leave, make a comment about the sign outside that said they don't have the specials they are advertising and they said they just don't have it "today". Which means you still don't freaking have it!?! So take the sign down it's false advertising. Then the server just said "it's fine. Bye." And closed the door in my wife's face. Soooooo... never going back. You shouldn't either. If I could give it negative stars I would.

Friendly staff and pretty good lunch. Better then average, and met our needs. We people watched all of the many bicycles going up and down the strand.

I found this place pretty average at best. The food was ok, I had the falafel burger but I've had…read moremuch much better falafel elsewhere. The ones here had hardly any taste at all, was way to crumbly and overcooked, and the hummus that came with it was kind of hard as opposed to smooth. I felt that restaurant lacked authenticity when it comes to actual Mexican food, and I found the food too oily for my liking, even the vegetable side dishes. The sweet potato fries were not too great and I expected better; too limp, soggy-like and greasy compared to what I've had at other restaurants. It very much felt like pricy fast food as opposed to real proper restaurant food. The service was very slow, they forgot one of our orders, did not have any herbal teas except green tea (not even earl grey or peppermint which I find almost all restaurants have) and they did not let us pay separately which made be reduce the stars from a 3 to a 2. Also, I think that the staff could be a bit more attentive to customers. The dessert menu was also quite small. The good points were that the atmosphere was pretty lively, the place seemed clean and the prices were not too bad but didn't really justify the poor quality of food. However, the menu had a variety of options and did cater a small but for vegetarians with dishes like falafel, potato based tapas and salads.

We went here a year ago and I'm just getting around to thanking them on Yelp…read more As an American Tourist visiting Ireland, I needed a change of pace after trying my hardest to eat "authentic" Irish food for a week. Cactus Jacks to the rescue. This isn't dive-y Mexican-American food served with grease and a touch of soul. This is Mexican food treated with respect and served with class. The tacos were artisan and pridefully made with the appropriate amount of garnish. The service was impeccable and the ambiance refreshingly modern. Somewhat regrettably, Cactus Jacks is THE recommendation I make when friends are visiting Galway. When searching for a restaurant, sometimes food trumps geography.
