This was our first experience with Supermac's since we don't have any in the US. The service was very friendly and the restaurant was impeccably clean. Even while we were there the workers were actively keeping every table and the floor clean of food the whole time. Our driver from our tour earlier that day suggested we try taco fries along with our burgers as well. They have others like garlic and cheese that sounded interesting too. For a fast food meal, my burger was very good. I wasn't expecting gourmet by any means but the flavor and texture was as good if not better than similar places. The taco fries were good but I probably wouldn't get them again. They didn't have that punch of spice I was hoping for. We also got a 99 (soft serve ice cream cone with a Flake added) which was creamy and delicious. It was a perfect treat on this hot day. Supermacs is about the same level as a Sonic here in the US and if you ever find yourself nearby you just need to try it to see for yourself. This is Ireland's fast food burger chain, serving up Irish ground beef burgers, chicken sandwiches and even Papa John's Pizza. We only tried the burgers and a 99 Cone along with a side of Taco Fries. The burgers were good and bad... I love lots of sauce on burgers, the messier the better. These had a ton of sauce and the burgers kept sliding out... it was messy in a good way. They had lettuce, tomato, red onion and pickles which was great. The bun was toasted and steamed so it was very soft. All good things so far. All that's left was the meat itself and while it's all Irish beef, it was thin, a little dry and incredibly firm in texture. So that took away from my overall liking of the burger. The taco fries were covered in their burger sauce, seasoned taco meat and cheese, very tasty. The 99 Cone was a great vanilla swirl cone that was just perfect. A good experience overall just a strange texture to the patties. read more

I was so excited to come to Supermacs, the penultimate Irish dining experience. I got of course the most classical of all Irish dishes, which was the muffin with the ice cream! It is absolute heaven. They microwave the muffin for you and put soft serve vanilla on top, what a combination I can't find anywhere but Ireland. Clearly the Irish are brilliant. I've returned from Ireland but am still craving my Supermacs hot muffin with ice cream. If this doesn't define Ireland, I don't know what does. God bless Ireland and its fantastic cuisine. read more

Supermacs is Ireland's answer to McDonalds and it works nicely. Somehow there is a connection to the Papa John's chain? Not sure I get that. Anyway, I ordered a chicken wrap with a sweet chili sauce and it really hit the spot. The fries were a disappointment as they lacked seasoning and the texture was a bit mealy. This one had a drive-thru, but I'm pretty sure that most do not. I really didn't encounter Supermacs outside of the city, so it might be just a city thing. The service was friendly and fast, so no complaints there. Not sure why I decided to hit a fast food restaurant, but I think I was just tired and decided that I wasn't interested in doing the pub thing and just wanted to takeaway food and hole up in my airbnb. I bet the burgers are really good. I sort of wished I'd opted for one of them as opposed to the chicken wrap, but no complaints there because it was quite delicious. Yay for not wavering and driving through a MickeyD's whilst abroad. It always kills me to see Americans pouring into American chain restaurants when they are in another country. I look at it as a lost opportunity. Then again, when your short on cash, fast food fits the bill. Supermacs was that for me and my lazy no effort whatsoever meal for my stay. If you need a little break and a quick bite, I can recommend. Maybe skip the fries, though. Oh, I mean chips. read more

This is a fastfood restaurant to beat all fast food restaurants. It has the best chips that are actually real potato and the best veggie burgers in Galway. There is also a healthy counter where you can choose from a range of bagels, wraps and sandwichs. If you are in a hurry and have the kids in the car, you can just go through the drive through. read more
